CHAPTER 1

Jack Thorne's House

On a Friday night , Jack Thorne was sitting on his bed with his legs folded , and his cheek resting on his right hand palm . As he sat up straight it was clear he was in his bedroom . It was a big room with dark - navy blue walls . His bed was facing a wall with a white poster of his favourite band it said in big black bold letters “BTS” The wall on the right of his bed had a dark wooden door that was the entrance/exit of his room, and on the doors right side were shelves which were the same wood as the door. They had tiny pot plants of bamboo and books of his two favourite franchises which were “Harry Potter'' and  “The diary of a Wimpy kid ”. On his beds left side were two windows stuck to each other to make them look like it was one big one . They stretched from the floor to the ceiling with dark brown curtains on the sides. He put his feet on the floor which was a dark brown wooden one. As he turned he saw his bed with a white bed sheet and a messed up comforter which was the same colour as his walls . It had two white pillows placed against the headboard of the bed which was also wooden. There were also two side-tables one on each side of the bed. And yet again , the side-tables were also wooden and had one drawer on the bottom of them. On one of the side-tables more specifically , the side-table on the right side of the bed , Had a table lamp and a picture frame with four teenagers in it . You could say they were about sixteen. On the left side stood a boy with black hair and dark brown eyes and average lips . He had rather short eyelashes but dark eyebrows and was rather attractive . He was wearing a plain sap green T-shirt and light blue ripped jeans this boy was of-course, Jack Thorne. Next to him stood a girl with long and thin-straight black hair with beautiful green eyes and pink- glossy lips . She had long eyelashes and rosy yet subtle cheeks . She was wearing a full sleeve black top which was tucked in to a black knee-length skirt . This was one of  Jack’s best friends , Allison Jones .Next to Allison was another girl who had long thick blonde hair which was also straight .She had hazel-coloured eyes and normal pink lips . She was also one of Jack’s friends,Geneva Washington.And finally next to Geneva was a boy with bushy dark brown hair,brown eyes and average lips,Max Brown.Jack smiled at the picture softly by only lifting up one cheek . He picked up an I-phone X from one of the side-tables which had a white phone case . He opened an app and clicked the name of a group which was,“Crazy talks'' he sent a message while typing rather fast .He said: '' Hey guys wanna meet at Denny’s tomorrow at 3?” He hit the arrow and put his phone down.But in less than 5 minutes his phone started dinging continuously.He clicked the notification and saw that the first reply said :“Hey sure! See ya there!” With a smiley emoji on it.This message was from Geneva.Allison and Max replied,saying yes of course,With that note he closed his window curtains,turned off all the lights and went to bed.But his sleep wasn't going so well,he started kicking and folding his legs in an Upward motion . His hands were going in sync with his body's turns and twists and he made gasping sounds as if he couldn't breathe.It was clear he was having a nightmare.In the nightmare , he saw himself in the middle of a road , an empty one , he heard a familiar voice screaming and ran to it . And then he yelled out : 

Jack : MUM!!!!!!!

While running towards a car which had toppled upside down. As he came closer , using all his strength he slowly pulled a woman out of the car which had met with an accident . The woman had a sort of blonde hair and had dark brown eyes - the same as Jack’s. She had  small eyelashes , a round nose and dark eyebrows - Also like Jack’s.This was his mother. With fear and stutter in his voice he said:

Jack : Mum? Mum? mum wake up ..it's gonna be ok mum? Ok..ok  hold on i'm gonna call for help….   

He takes his phone out of his pocket and dials 911 while pacing around very intensely. A faint ringing sound can be heard.But the longer it rings, the more terrified Jack became .

Jack: Pick up…..pick up ...pick up please! 

Phone: The number you have dialed-

Jack : ugh! (he cuts the phone) …. Mom...just hold on ok? I'm gonna call dad he might pick up…

He went through his phone contacts very quickly and clicked his dad's contact number very aggressively. He called but he couldn't hear anything. He took the phone off his ear and looked at the screen. He couldn't see any bars.

Jack : No-no-no-no-no !!! he whispered to himself  Mom? Just hang in there please?? He sees that she’s not moving an inch, she's like a statue. He moves closer to her , kneels down and says:

Jack: Mom? She isn't breathing ...he whispers to himself  MOM?! He says with tears in his eyes MOM NO!! MOM WAIT PLEASE MOM NO!!! He wails MOM!!!.

Jack suddenly wakes up gasping with his legs covered in a comforter and a drop of sweat moving down from the right side of his forehead to his cheek. He kept on gasping. He got out of his bed and turned on the table lamp on his side-table. He slowly opened a drawer and pulled out a picture of him and his mom both smiling and looking really happy.He weeped while looking at the picture and thought to himself “she’s gone Jack she’s gone.” he sat there weeping for hours , but finally took a deep breath in , wiped his tears, put the picture carefully back in his drawer and got back in his bed. He woke up and felt a little better after last night. But before he even got out of bed his phone got a notification from his group “crazy talks” , it was from Allison,and it said,  “ hey guys are we still on for denny’s at 3?” Jack sent a reply saying: “yep we’re still on but seriously All how are you up so early?” he didn't get a reply for about 5 minutes until Allison called him . He clicked accept and put the phone to his ear.

Allison : You do know it’s 11 in the morning right? 

Jack: Really?!

He took the phone off his ear and checked the time , it said  ..11:01 am after seeing this he slapped his right-hand palm to his forehead and put the phone to his ear and said:

Jack : i’m an idiot (he said while laughing at himself)

Allison laughed and said:

Allison: Yes you are !!

She kept on laughing but calmed down and said:

Allison: Oh my god …..Okay..

Jack: Okay it's not funny anymore 

Alisson: Jeez! Moody ...anyway i gotta go...see-ya!

Jack: see ya!

He took the phone off his ear and clicked the red button with a phone figure on it and put it in his pocket . He got out of his bed and walked towards the bedroom window and opened the curtains. He went inside the bathroom and splashed some water in his face while looking in the mirror. His pale blue shirt was all wet around the collar after splashing water , but he ignored it and went out of his bedroom door and went down the wooden stairs which took him to an empty kitchen with no one sitting on the counter stools with a confusing tone he said:

Jack: Dad?

He walked towards the counter and saw a letter that said “Jack” he opened it , the letter said :

“ hey bud , good morning i've got another late shift today ...so your going to have to make your own food today...im sorry” Jack sighed and said

Jack : Great

While throwing the note on the floor . He walked towards the fridge and took out a milk carton and placed it on the counter. He then opened a cupboard next to the fridge and took out a fruit loops cereal box. After that, he opened a cabinet on his right and took out a yellow coloured bowl and put it on the counter . He first poured a fair amount of milk into the bowl and took the cereal box in his hands.he turned it upside down only to find that it was empty. 

Jack : ughh!

Jack said in an annoyed tone . He took his phone out of his pocket and went on “recent calls”  the first one was Allison since he was on a call with her the morning , and the next one was Mike . he clicked on Mike’s contact and put the phone to his ear again 

Mike : What’s up?

Jack: uhh

Mike : (sighs and says) Yeah i'll be at your place with food in five 

Jack : thanks bro (laughs embarrassingly)

While waiting for food , Jack walked towards a couch placed not far from the counter ,sat comfortably and then  went to the search bar on his phone and typed “insta”. Within 5 seconds an app called instagram popped up . He clicked it casually scrolling down posts  and pressing the heart/like icon on every single one after five to six minutes the doorbell rang . Jack made a confused-looking face , Mike did say 5 minutes but Jack didn't think he meant it literally!, he got up, having a tough time getting off his comfortable position on the couch, he walked towards the door and opened it .

Jack: Mi-

But there was no one there. He stepped outside onto the porch and saw a note .The note said : I MISS YOU .It was written in blood and was a little hard to read but not impossible to . Jack stood still looking at it for a split second and immediately dropped it to the ground in fear . After a second he relaxed and murmured to himself 

Jack : kids

While walking towards a trash can . He threw the note aggressively into the garbage and was just about to walk back inside when he saw Mike

Mike: Hey! I got pizza !

Jack: Pizza for breakfast????

Mike : Dude chill...besides your dad isn’t home..

Jack: good point!

They went inside ,  jumped on the couch and started stuffing pizza slices into their mouths .

Mike : Dude you won't believe what happened today ...when i was going to get pizza for you , a kid put his skateboard in the middle of the lane! And you won't believe what happened next!

Jack : You stepped on the skateboard and tripped?

Mike : Yeah…...how’d u know?

Jack : lucky guess ..But i swear - today a kid put a note on my porch saying “I miss you” 

It looked like it was written in blood ! BLOOD!

Mike: Dude!

Jack : I know ! 

Mike : kids gettin’ violent these days

Jack scoffed and walked towards the counter and put the boxes down 

Mike: Anyway…..dude you picked the BEST day to meet at Denny’s 

Jack said in a confused tone

Jack: Really?

Mike: Yeah! They're serving a special and limited choco-ice cream shake only for today!

Jack : Coo-

But before Jack could finish , suddenly the fan stopped moving 

Mike: uhh

Jack : (groans and says) The power’s probably out 

Jack just stepped away from the counter when all the curtains,doors,windows and blinds shut close

Mike: JACK??!!

Jack : I DON’T KNOW !!!!

They both took out their phones and turned on the flashlight 

Mike: you figure this out and i'll call Allison and Geneva

Jack: kay...

Mike took his phone out and clicked “Group call” he then clicked on Allison and Geneva’s contact . Geneva was the first to pick up the call and then Allison

Geneva: Guys why is it so dark?

Allison: Yeah...why?

Mike : I'm at J's house and it's going bloody mad in here!!!

Geneva: what?

Geneva said in a confusing tone

Jack : The power went out and someone locked all the doors and windows!!

he said in the bag round.

Allison : Guys! chill...it's probably some stupid kids playing pranks

Mike looked at jack in a calmer tone

Mike : wouldnt be the first time.
