A New Beginning

[10:30pm, June 3, 2022; Angono, Rizal]

*constant mouse clicking*

*rapid keyboard pressing*

A few minutes later...

"YES!!", shouted by a guy sitting from a monoblock chair and playing on a laptop in a narrow room.

"Hey Alex, I got to go now, let's play again sometime", said by a person coming from a voice call in a computer.

"Ok, thanks for the game, see you tomorrow", Alex replied, standing up and stretched his arms upward in his position.

Alex then shutted down his laptop and place it inside its bag. He then walked downstairs coming from the 2nd floor and grabbed the key to the door outside. After he opened the door, he then placed the keys in their mailbox, confident that it won't be stolen at this time of the night.

The streets outside were eerily quiet and feels lonely but Alex is not bothered by as he is used to it, rather, he feels even more comfortable than he was at home. He walked for a few minutes and got to a convenience store. Upon entering, he picked up some snacks and drinks and paid for it at the counter. A few minutes after leaving, there seems like a looming shadow in the front that is slowly creeping into his position.

'Why is street getting darker?', Alex thought as he looks at the houses, road and lamppost from far away seemingly getting darker for unknown reason.

Alex used the flashlight from his phone to lighten up the area in front of him, yet for some reason the light can't seem to get past the looming shadow.

Right as he blinked, the looming shadow zooms through him, faster than he can open his eyes.

*torch flames flickering*

Alex wakes up in a dimly lit stone room with a single torch in it.

'Where is this place?', Alex thought while slowly opening his eyes, feeling like he was awoken from a long slumber, 'I remember I was pointing my phone's flashlight to a seemingly looming shadow', he continued as he raise his body up.

He examined the surrounding area and he found nothing but his snacks and drinks, stone walls, a dimly lit torch and a door. He looked through his pants' pocket to see his phone and picked it up quickly whilst opening it. He noticed that there is no signal in his area, quickly placing his phone again in his pocket. He grabbed his snacks and drinks up then opened the door and there seems to be nothing but darkness in front, yet he still walked forward albeit with his guard and senses up. He continued walking for hours as if he's used to doing it, and even though he feels tired already, he still continued forward with the hope that it will end soon. A few minutes later, he crashed into something, surprising him which made him fall back on his butt.

'What was that' Alex thought as he stood up while seemingly curious on what was ahead. Alex placed his right hand in the front as he moves forward while carrying his snacks and drinks in the left. He then felt a hard surface from his right hand and then examined its surrounding area and knocked it to see what it is made of, and realizes it is made out of wood. He then pressed something in the right side and suddenly, he felt an overwhelming presence whilst something is rooting his right hand on the area he pressed on, making him fall on his knees as he hasn't feel any pressure like it before. He suddenly felt a tiny sharp needle injecting into his right hand, sucking his blood for a second, then the presence fades away as his right hand got released from being rooted. The hard wood surface in the front then slides outside to the left, welcoming the light outside to come in. Alex saw his surroundings clearly and he only saw a normal empty small house made out of wood and a plain wood door in front of him which made him confused.

'I started in a stone room and walked for hours, yet there doesn't seem to be anything of resemblance' Alex thought as he feels that something seems wrong, but he didn't linger on it and placed all the snacks and drinks that fell outside the paper bag inside it again.

Alex then walked outside, and saw a vast field with small roads and a village seemingly from a past era.

"Woah... how did I end up here?" Alex couldn't help but speak his mind as he marvel to an unfamiliar place in his eyes.

Alex then looked up to the sky and saw a yellow crystal instead of the sun, which got him feel more unfamiliar and curious to the place.

'This looks like a fantasy world... did I just got isekai'd?' Alex thought as he compare this place from the novels and mangas he had read.

'Wait, what time was it now?' He thought as he remembered that he has a tournament grand finals to attend in the noon, and looked at his phone quickly.

[12:01, June 4, 2022]

'Oh crap..' He thought as he felt saddened that he is already late and he doesn't even know a way back even if he was early.

Alex then walked towards the village to find hints about the place, or even the world he's in. As he is near the village, a horse driven carriage can be heard from far behind and it quickly got near him.

"Move aside! move aside!" said the middle-aged driver, as the carriage run past through Alex.

'This seems like an area set in the old era' Alex thought as his eyes followed the carriage entering the village.

He then walked inside the village and saw lots of wooden houses and a variety of people along some he had never seen before like a beastwoman that looks like a cat wearing a tight leather armor. He also saw some people looking like an adventurer, a merchant and a seemingly normal person wearing old fashioned or fantasy-like clothes. He also saw some people staring at him, looking at him and his t-shirt and jagger pants. Suddenly, a kind looking young man wearing a robe walked closer to him.

"Hello there, it seems like you're new to this village, do you need any help?" said the young man as he smiled to Alex with his narrow eyes nearly closed.

"Uhh.. yeah!" Alex said as he is startled, not used to getting suddenly talked by a stranger, "I actually don't know where to go from here", he continued, as he rubs the back of his head.

"It seems like you're lost and you don't look like an adventurer or a merchant. I suggest you get an adventurer card from the adventurer's guild and start from there. Follow me, I'll help you get there" said by the young man.

"Ok, thanks" Alex replied with a smile, 'I guess this might be a new beginning for me, though I'll still miss my friends', he then continued in his thought as he and the young man started walking. Alex looked forward to his new beginning in a fantasy world.
