Chapter 4 - An unshakable truth

A young wolf in complete white skin like a vampire, zig-zagged markings under his eyes in black and red, and dark grey eyes with a broken heart and no emotion in it. What the-! What is he doing here?! I quickly got up and ran out of the house as fast as I can.

"Wa-wait!! Astra! Come back!" the young wolf shouted. Jaxon came out of his hiding spot and walked to the young wolf. "Dude, why did Astra ran out of the house, and are you acquainted with each other?" Jaxon asked.

"Yea, you could say that." the young wolf replied as he sighs. 'Now that nothing is holding me down. I can finally settle the scores with you' he thought.

"Would you mind enlighten me on the details of this whole mishap?" Jaxon asked, confused.

After telling the whole story and keeping it short, Jaxon was shocked and angry. "Dammit!" Jaxon yelled as he punched the wall. "That woman is too much! You have to go after her, Nessler!" Jaxon shouted as he grabbed Nessler.

"No, you should go after her. If I go, she won't listen. I don't think she hasn't forgotten about that time'." Nessler said as he looked away from Jaxon's eye contact.

Meanwhile......

Huff....puff. Why him? Sob. Does this jerk realize that I have been trying so hard to forget our days together? It hurts seeing him again.

Nessler Sykes, my ex-boyfriend, singer, and leader of the three-boy band of the Heartbreakers. Nessler's personal information isn't very well known and they are kept confidential from the public. I don't know anything about his personal life but what I know is that I can never forget those emotionless eyes. How does he know Jaxon? I know they are band members but living together under the same roof? As fast as I ran, I went to an alley but then I bumped into someone, the person who ruined my career and almost killed me from a tall building 5 years ago. I was shocked, scared, and trembled as I look up and saw, Lindsay Anderson, a model, and a singer with a bad reputation. You may think she is good at singing but she was actually lip-syncing my singing voice. The reason why she did modeling the most than singing is that if she writes songs and she sings in her voice, her career would have been said than done. I don't give a damn why she is here but I don't even want to see her face at all.

"Well if it isn't Astra, my old friend!" Lindsay said with a fake smile. Hmph, touche. Putting that nice girl facade when you are actually a two-faced snake, disgusting but I have to keep my cool. If I don't, I would be in more trouble.

"The pleasure is all mine, Lindsay" I replied as I shook her hand and got up. So fake, tch. "How is your life for the past 5 years since I last saw you?" Lindsay asked. Is she indirectly looking down on me? Hey! If it weren't for your stupid schemes, you wouldn't be living a life, full of luxury right now!!

"Nothing much. I have been living my life just fine" I replied, trying not to show her any anger. C'mon just leave me alone!! I want to run away from these two flies! "If there is nothing else, I will be taking my leave now," I said as I was about to leave.

"Aww~ Leaving so soon? I was gonna tell you something important while I was looking for you." Lindsay smirked. I have a bad feeling about this. I should leave A.S.A.P!! But as soon I was about to make a run for it, Lindsay's bodyguards blocked the entrance. My goodness, they are so tall!

"You shouldn't have done that. It breaks my heart when you want to leave so suddenly" Lindsay smirked. This girl! Wait a minute, those guys look familiar. Hold on!!

"Are you the one who sent those mafia-looking dudes who attacked Mrs. Johnson?" I asked. Let's hope this is just a coincidence...Lindsay smiled creepily.

"So what if I did?~" Lindsay replied. She didn't deny it!! Crud! This is bad. I want to ask her more but if I keep pressing her any longer, she might find out that I'm the one who saved Mrs. Johnson!!

"How did you know Mrs. Johnson who is Chris Johnson's mother??" Lindsay asked curiously. "We were acquaintances. That's how I know her...." I lied as I tried to avoid eye contact with her.

"I see...Well, that doesn't concern me at all!" Lindsay said as she smiled. What the heck!? You just asked me that question and you say that doesn't concern you at all?! You're so tactless!! Sigh.

"Can I leave now? I don't want to talk with you right now. I have other things to do. You're delaying my duties." I told Lindsay. She flinched with an angry look on her face, then smiled.

"Oh sorry!~ I didn't know that it took so long so I got carried away!" Lindsay said as she put on a fake face. "Don't worry. I'll let you off now!~ We'll catch up like the old times!~" Lindsay shouted, waving farewell after ordering her bodyguards to move out of the way as I quickly ran off. Thanks but no thanks!! I rather die than meeting you in this hellhole of a life!! Tch! I should run back home. Kairo must be worried about me.

When I arrived at my house~

On second thought, I take back what I said. This guy-! He's not even worried about me?! Geez, I know his temperament but he doesn't have to be this shameless! That's it. I better wake him up and teach him a lesson......but I'm too tired to beat him up right now. I should go rest up for tomorrow.

The next day~

"Although it may sound rude to ask.....did you have enough sleep? Because I can see those black circles under your eyes." Eva asked. "I'm fine, ma'am. I'm just tired, that's all." I reassured her. Honestly, I'm DEAD tired!! I couldn't even get a wink of sleep thanks to her! Well done, Lindsay! You made my life miserable once again!! "I think you should take a day off. I don't want to have my son's bodyguard to be very tired." Eva said worriedly. Poor Mrs. Johnson. You're too kind for your own good. I get that you care but pls don't be too much. Anyways, I agreed to take a day off so I left the house and went back to my house to rest. Whew!! What a day! Who would have thought that stupid woman to appear in my life again! Just great. Sigh. What should I do now?

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

Huh? Who's at the door? I wasn't expecting anyone. When I opened the door, Jaxon looked at me worriedly. Oh. Must be because I ran out of his house yesterday. Crap, what should I say to him? I don't want to tell him fully about my life after I ran away that day.

"Are you okay, Astra?" Jaxon asked worriedly. "Yea, I'm fine. I was taking a day off from work." I replied. "Oh, I see. May I come in?" he asked. Uh oh. If he saw Kairo, he will question me about his origins! I can't do that! "Okay, just wait a moment there!" I replied quickly as I ran upstairs. I told Kairo not to come out unless I told him to no matter what happens. He agreed but he asked me whether I'm seeing someone here. I want to give him an earful but nows, not the time for that so I quickly ran downstairs and opened the front door to let Jaxon in.

After we settled down, there was an awkward silence in the air as we tried to start a conversation. Jaxon started first, "So about yesterday..." "Oh, that...I was just shocked to see him again. We are acquaintances after all" I replied terrified, trying not to answer him in the whole truth. "Astra.....Nessler told me everything. You don't have to hide anything from me" Jaxon reassured. Great. Just great. So he knew the part of my dumb miserable second life right off the bat.

"He even told me the reason why you two broke up" Jaxon continued. "So what? He wants us to be together again? I'm sorry but that's not gonna happen" I replied in anger. Why does he get to hear reason with Nessler while I have to wait for his answer for 5  frickin years?! "He said he's not forcing you for you two to be together but to clear up the misunderstanding between the both of you" Jaxon assured. "What misunderstanding? Does he even realize how hurt I was back then? I thought he really means it when he said that I have to wait for him to give me the answer but NOOOOO. He ended up on stage! With you right beside him! I went to seclusion because of everything happening to me throughout my whole life!!" I shouted in anger. I couldn't control my feelings so I vented out all my anger at Jaxon despite knowing that it wasn't his fault that I fell to despair. "I thought my life gets better after I ran away but misfortunes always follow me wherever I go!! Besides being heartbroken, I was betrayed....by my first best friend!!" I vented.

Jaxon quietly listened to me shouted while I blindly vented all my anger out of me. When I finally calmed down, I realized that I said everything without knowing that Jaxon was listening to me the whole time. Crap!! What was I thinking?! Stupid brain!! Stupid! Ugh! "Jaxon, I...." I tried to explain but was stopped by Jaxon. "Don't worry, Astra. Now I heard everything from your side of the story, I guess I can finally tell you everything" Jaxon smiled and starts telling his story.

"As you can see, Nessler, Scar, that red and black-haired boy and I are the members of the Heartbreakers but the story behind all that was kept confidential from the public. No one but us knew everything because the three of us are in a relationship with the same woman without us knowing it and that woman....was Lindsay Anderson." He said.

Lindsay!! That damned woman is such a she-dog and a player!! How could she? I expected more from you, you dum dum!!

"Lindsay first started the relationship with Nessler, just weeks after his break-up with you. Before you start being mad, I suggest you listen first, Astra. Anyways, Nessler never wanted to end his relationship with you nor start his with Lindsay but he has to choose. He was being driven into a corner and there was nothing he could about it." Jaxon said. "Why didn't he tell me? If he did, I would have understood." I asked. "That's the thing. He wanted to, but his stepmother and Lindsay threatened to kill you if he said a word about it. He was scared that time hesitated, and was forced to agree with them. He didn't mean to break up with you, sis so I wasn't mad at him when I was told about it. Please understand. The reason why Nessler and I lived together is that we are stepbrothers. Mom was together with another man after she left Dad. When I asked my new Dad why he was together with Mom, he told me that he was not interested in her for anything. He just needs someone who has parenting experience to take care of his son, Nessler for him because his relationship with Nessler is not very good. He asked how am I not scared of him because of his appearances and the murderous aura he gave out. I answered him 'My mother was even scarier than you. I knew from first glance that you are not a bad guy no matter how I look at it.' My new Dad gave a small smile and before he left the house, he asked, 'Before I go, please look after my son for me. He's scared of me for my appearance as a monster. I know I look scary but it's painful to see Nessler like that. That's why I'm in a contract marriage with your mother. Forgive me.' He said and then left. It's been years since I last saw Dad." Jaxon said.

He leaned forward and whispered, "To be honest, I know where our new Dad was but I can't visit him because of Nessler. We lived together after all." Ah. So that's why he broke up with me. I sat down on the couch and thought, 'Nessler...no, Nessie. You're such an idiot you know that? A bumbling idiot' Aish! This is too much information to take in! I think I need a break for real!

5 minutes later~

"Are you calm now?" Jaxon asked worriedly. "Yea...I'm fine now." I replied. "I know this is too much information to handle but you deserve to know the whole truth and know what is going on." He said. "I know. I know. So you knew everything about my second life after 'that'."

"Most of them. Not all of them. Astra, you and Nessler should clear up this misunderstanding and make-up." Jaxon said, worriedly. "I know but I honestly don't know what to say to him right now or face him after what I did yesterday" I replied, worriedly. "Ah, about that. Don't worry about it. He understood the fact that you were very shocked to see him again back there so it's okay." He assured me. I stopped for a minute and looked at Jaxon. Phew, I'm honestly glad.

When Jaxon was about to leave, he turned and said, "Oh! Before I forget, Nessler wanted me to relay a message to you." "Huh? What did he say?" I asked. "He said, 'Astra, whether you forgive me or not is up to you...and I'm sorry for making you wait for this long. I hope you aren't mad at me for keeping this a secret. I was a fool back then. I'm sorry. It's best for us to not be in a relationship and be in our separate ways. It's for the both of us, Astra.' That's all he said.

Heh. That's fine. I understand, Nessie. Very well, we will be friends. I smiled and waved goodbye to Jaxon.

"Mommy!! Is he gonna be our new daddy??" Kairo asked, excitedly from the stairway.

. . .

This guy-! I almost forgot about him!! "You little runt. Who told you, you can eavesdrop on other people's business??" I gave him a creepy smile and cracked my fists to beat the crap out of Kairo. "Come here you-!" I shouted and chased after him. Now that this misunderstanding has been resolved. I don't think this was over yet. Better be prepared for the worst.
