You quickly reapply your lip gloss

As you approach the table and slide into your seat, your date looks up from his phone and gives you a big smile.

Terrance: There you are! I thought you had run out on me!

...Maggie: oh my god, I would never!...

Terrance: so, what took you so long?

...Maggie: I was just chatting with some lady....

Terrance: I hear the women’s restroom is just one big party, you all end up making friends with each other.

You try not to fall asleep as Terrance goes on and on about his mother about his mother. By the time your food arrives you feel like your going to lose control.

Terrance: and so one time, my mom got me this hideous tie for my birthday, and I had no idea what to tell her. Like how do you tell your mom you hate a gift she bought for you?

Jackson: Maggie?

...You look up from your wine glass to see Jackson standing beside Terrance. A pretty woman on the other side of him, twirling a lock of her perfect golden hair and staring into her phone. ...

Suddenly, the girl looks up from her phone and straight into your eyes.

Alexis: Um? who is this girl?

Jackson: Maggie is that you?

...Maggie: Um, yes?...

Jackson: That face of yours...it’s one I’ll never tire of seeing, even after all these years.

...Suddenly, you shift your attention to Terrance, who’s looking vividly uncomfortable in his seat....

Jackson: oh, I’m sorry! God, how rude of me! I’m Jackson peterkins.

...Jackson puts out his hand for Terrance to shake. The two men stare at each other for a brief moment of silence before Terrance takes Jackson’s hand....

Terrance: I’m Terrance. Terrance Fond.

Jackson: Would it be rude of me if I asked to join in on your date? It’s been so long since I’ve seen this one

...Without skipping a beat, Jackson pulls up two chairs from an empty table nearby. He motions for his date to sit down....

Jackson: This is Alexis.

...Alexis smiles before sitting down and turning her attention back to her phone....

Alexis: Hi.

Terrance: I’m sorry, what? You know Maggie?

Jackson: oh, we go way back.
