when there is a river, people must go to swimming , but in our village we are not allowed to go to bathe in the river because there are always people who drown in the river.

This drowning incident has always happened in that river. The old people always said

that the river has river ghosts. The ghost of the river (hantu air) are a kind of subtle creatures called mambang or jinn that are found in watery areas.

I will tell a story about water ghosts. This story was told by a friend. The story starts like this ..

My friend and I went to the waterfall area and the waterfall is located deep in the jungle. But the scenery is very beautiful and cool.

before going to the waterfall area we stopped at a stall to eat. the owner of the stall asked us "where do you want to go?". and I said “we want to go to the waterfall”.

the owner of the stall said "be careful when going there and don't do bad things because there are a lot of bad things happening in the area ". we just nodded and continued our journey to the waterfall .

the journey to the waterfall area is very challenging and a bit tiring because you have to climb hills to get there.travel there requires at least 3 hours of travel.

when we got there .. we made a tent and firewood for the bbq .the waterfall was a bit high and the water was a bit green. when you think back it was a bit scary to bathe there.

we showered happily and joked there.

all of a sudden a friend of mine shouted for help.we saw him getting farther away from us and drowning.we tried to save him.thanks to god we were able to save him.

we asked him what happened ?. he said that something pulled his foot in the water .after hearing his story we rushed to go home.
