I soared through the air looking towards the trees. I swayed from side to side, tryin my best to avoid the tree branches. The rain fell on me and I began to feel cold. My body shivered but I kept going. No matter what, I needed to get out of here.
Whoosh.
I looked to the side and saw a rock pass me, just an inch away from my face. I looked back and saw the vampire still coming after me holding another rock in his hands. He threw it and I was just barely able to avoid it. The rock moved quickly, running into the branches of a tree with a smack.
I forced myself to fly faster but the rocks kept coming. I turned around and saw that the vampire was still close behind me. I took a sharp turn left, which seemed to throw him off. I looked behind, and saw him looking around trying to locate me. Then a sudden pain went through my body. I slammed into the branches of a tree and they scratched my face and I could feel blood pouring from the wounds. My wings were tangled in the branches. I struggled to move, then suddenly I heard a crack. The branches broke from under me and I started falling to the ground. I screamed on impact and felt something break in my wing. I clenched my teeth, trying to keep quiet despite the unbearable pain I was in.
I could hear footsteps in the distance. I forced myself to get up, whimpering when the pain in my wing worsened. "Shit," I muttered. The footsteps came closer and I had no time to think before I got up and started running. I held my injured wing against my body with one hand, while the other wing laid limply against my side. I couldn't hide them now, not when one was broken. I hissed when I made contact with the ground once again, after tripping over a fallen branch. I got back up quickly and ran, ignoring the blood coming from my knees. I ran and ran for what seemed like forever, and then I saw a massive house up ahead. I rushed towards it, assuming that it would be my best chance at survival.
I ran towards the house, hoping someone could help me. I banged on the door, looking behind me constantly. The few seconds that passed felt like years before the door finally opened. I looked up and saw a beautiful women standing in the doorway. She had blond shoulder-length hair that framed a pale face, and honey colored eyes. She looked at me with a shocked but confused look on her face. I could tell she was a vampire but I had no choice, it was either this vampire or the other one.
"Ma'am.... please help me, theirs a..... vampire trying to kill me," I said, trying to catch my breath. She looked me up and down, seeing the distraught state I was in. She looked off into the woods before speaking. "Alright, come," She gestured for me to enter her house. She closed the door behind us after taking another quick look around.
The moment I stepped in her house, I felt a wave of exhaustion hit me and my body gave out. I landed on the floor, on my hands and knees. "Are you okay!?" The woman asked and ran towards me. I felt her place her hand on my shoulder, in a comforting way but before I could answer my body collapsed on the floor and everything went black.

I opened my eyes to darkness. I sat up groggily, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I looked around and saw that I was sitting on a large queen sized bed with a grey comforter draped over me. I looked around and saw that my wing was bandaged in a way where I couldn't move it. I looked at my arms and saw bandages on the cuts and scrapes. I got off the bed, almost stumbling to the floor and turned on the lights. I flinched at the brightness and looked around the room. From where I stood, their was a door in the middle of the room in front of me. Then on the right wall, their was a window that showed the trees and the starry sky and a desk stood in front of it.
It was then I realized that I was wearing different clothes than before, I wore some black sweatpants that fit me loosely and a plain grey t-shirt that was also loose.
I turned around and looked at the messy bed. Deciding not to be a slob, I fixed the bed before walking to the door. I opened it slowly into the brightly lit hallway. I looked around and saw another door in front of mine. I closed the door behind me and walked down the short hallway and came to some stairs. I walked down them still listening for a sound. "Um... hello," I called out but no one answered. I walked around, looking for the women from before. I contemplated leaving but decided against it. Who knows if that vampire is still out there.
I walked into what seemed like a kitchen and stared in awe at the beautiful kitchen. "I see your awake," a women's voice sounded behind me making me jump. I turned quickly to see the women from before. I gave her a small shy smile. "Do you feel better?" She looked me up and down with a concerned face. "Yes, thank you for helping me," I gave her a genuine smile, grateful.
"Oh I didn't do anything. It was all my little brother, he's rather gifted with healing powers." she said nonchalantly. "Oh, I see" I said suddenly thinking that I was in different clothes. I felt a bit embarrassed, hoping that it wasn't him who changed me. The woman seemed to know what I was thinking and spoke. "Don't worry, I changed you, he just helped with your injuries."
I smiled and thanked her again. I then realized I didn't know her name. "By the way, what's your name?"
"Oh forgive me, I completely forgot to tell you. My name is Alice, nice to meet you...-"
"Scarlet," I filled in for her. "Well Scarlet, you're allowed to stay here for a while if you like." I quickly nodded figuring I had no where else to go. Then a thought hit me, she knows I'm a fairy, I mean its obvious with these giant wings dragging behind me and my silver hair. Could I trust her?
It seemed as though Alice had read my thoughts, "Don't worry, I know your a fairy but your safe here. Honestly I have no interest in the power of fairies," She reassured. I couldn't fully trust her but I couldn't leave and possibly be captured by other wicked creatures. I gave her an uneasy smile. "Now I think its best if you go back to sleep, your still weak and your injuries haven't healed yet." I nodded at her, then said goodnight. I had no choice but to trust her.
