The Post-Survivor Adventures

The Post-Survivor Adventures

The Zombie Apocalypse and Me

*Growl*

*Bam* *Bam*

*Roar*

I scratched my head feeling frustrated. These zombies are quite annoying... No, too dang annoying. I can't even make a smooth nap for three days now.

I am currently stranded here on the third floor of my rented apartment. In this whole apartment, I'm alone. All the tenants and the landlords were either escaped, died, or turned into a zombie. Oh! Maybe one of them turns out one of the zombies outside that consecutively making noises, roaring, and slamming the walls.

They are as annoying as hell but I can do nothing to make them shut up. I'm just a powerless citizen and only a kitchen knife and a wooden rod are what with me to protect myself from them.

*Croog*

I'm hungry again. I can't help but touch my protesting, trembling stomach.

*crosgsj* (sound of plastic unfolding)

This is my last food. I'm planning to escape here as soon as possible but I can't find a good chance to do so. I also don't want to leave my room, for the time being, afraid to be eaten by the zombies waiting for me outside. Alive.

*crush*

I don't know if (not cooked) noodles really taste this great or I'm just too hungry and hallucinating. But I feel like, chewing this hard noodle with the seasoning as the toppings, I feel like I'm in the ninth heaven.

Yum...

So yummy...

I even forgot to spare some for my next meal.

I ate the whole noodles so fast. My last food disappeared in a blink of an eye.

~Hays~

What can I do? Done is done, eaten is eaten. I can only sigh inside my heart. There's nothing to regret tho. I was the one who ate it, after all.

As I was busy reading someone's novel, I unconsciously neglected that the sky for an unknown reason turned dark and a rain of blood fell from the sky.

Everyone was scared and started shouting the names of different Gods. The world was in chaos as the corpses of deaths woke in under their graves.

Of course, me, as a novel addict. I was reading at that time with a headphone and everything had happened under my nose. Without me knowing that something was happening, I was calm inside my room...

While all the other tenants and the landlord was running for their life, my door was locked and I was reading a novel.

I only found out that something disastrous was happening after about five hours passed since the apocalypse started. I took my headphone off and I heard shouts and roars outside, that was how I found out.

At first, I thought a brawl was happening so I decided to watch the show. But what I witnessed was a group of humanoid monsters roaring while eating a body of humans, bloody and tearing fresh meat, alive. The one they were eating was shouting for help but to no avail until his death.

I want to help but I halted because I found that there was a group of zombies on the second floor wandering.

I ran back to my room and locked the door again. Hopefully, I locked it as soon as I entered because not long after, the zombies came and tried to open my door. ..

.

With the spare foods in my fridge, I locked myself here in my room.

[Back to current]

And yeah... It had been three days since the disaster started.

All foods and water were consumed. I'm a bit eater and can't restrain myself from taking some taste sometimes.

Even my phone also deadbat. With the knife with me that I can use as a weapon that I could use in time of emergency, I don't own more. I'm currently poorer than rats.

At least rats able to eat clothes but I'm not.

[Another five hours passed]

I think this won't do!

I needed to find a source of food as soon as possible!

My stomach is protesting!

I'm not gonna die from a zombie's attack but hunger would kill me!

Having this thought about foods, I stood up and walked towards the window. There, I looked outside to try to search around to see if could I spot food.

As a common person, as a normal human, I also need food as a supplement of energy and to protect my health.

.

Wait~ That's it!

Not long after, I spotted the broken-down garden of my neighbor. There are fresh vegetables planted there. Although some were destroyed by the footsteps of humans and zombies, there are still many who survive.

If what I remember was correct, this garden was that old man's... It's just that I can't remember his name, after all, I'm not good at remembering names but faces.

But why am I even thinking about the other? I shook my head to clean up all the useless thoughts. If I could take those vegetables, it can help me as a supplement of energies and stay alive for a week or so...

It depends on how I'll eat.

By the way, ~ Thinking but staying alive, I suddenly remembered my family. The internet was cut off and there is no signal, there's no way left for me to contact them. I don't know if they are still alive, but I wish they are. I still want to meet them again.

Right, if I want to see my family again, I need to learn how to fight.

Thinking about my family, a sense of fighting spirit made my morale jumped to the peak. I think there wouldn't be any problem if I try to lurk as long as I stay vigilant and I didn't lurk for too long.

That food... I think it's time for me to fight.

[Half an hour later]

After building a plan, I decided to take off. With the kitchen knife in my hand and a wooden rod hanging at my back, I walked close to the door. To make things safer I didn't open it as soon as I came but stopped.

I put the knife in my tight and changed the rod as my weapon.

With my watchful and alert eyes, I put my hand at the doorknob.

*Click*

I slowly unlocked the door and performed my moves silently. There was still the sound but not that loud.

I made a small space and looked outside first. When I saw no zombies around, only then I opened the door wide open and slipped out.

Watching my step, walking with vigilance around me, and observing every corner. I'm about to walk downstairs when I saw a zombie also walking upstairs.

I retreat first and dare not to face the zombie head-on.

Witnessing a bloody and ugly zombie this close, it feels gross at the same time I shivered a little. I almost lost my grip on the rod if my instinct didn't kick me back to my senses.

I don't know if I'm ready to fight, after all, this would be my first time battling for real, and my first time fighting since I was born was destined to be a versus a zombie.

If only I could use the skills in Novels... But... That wouldn't work. The only skills I know were learned from Novels. I don't even know if I could execute those skills.

But first of all, what I need to do is to calm down. I took a deep breath and forcefully suppressed my inner fear. I looked around me when I found it safe, I learned at the wall. I was in the hidden spot of the zombie. Waiting for the zombie to come close before killing him.

*Tap*

*Tap*

Grinding my teeth, I closed my eyes and tried to calm myself down. After calming down, only then I activated all my six senses. It feels like I'm looking at the zombie directly as all of its moves are being visualized in my head.

*Tap*

When the sound of the footstep is creaking louder and louder, the suppression I can feel also turning higher and higher.

But I'm already here, there's no way I would turn back like a coward and run for my life.

It's earthier me to the zombie. Only one can keep his life.
