Chapter 1

Alcata was a plain looking girl with long brown curly hair with freckles on her face, she lived a tough life as a poor orphan on the streets but through a chance of luck, she was able to work as a maid at the Elvenor House. The house of a rich merchant who lived with his wife and daughter, Siloami.

Alcata has been working at the Elvenor house since she was 10 years old and now it has been over 8 years. But working at the Elvenor house was not easy. Alcata suffered from the abuse of Mrs. Elvenor and their daughter. Despite the abuse, Alcata still stayed working for them as a maid. Because life on the street was much worse than life with the Elvenors.

"Alcata! Alcata! Where is that damn girl?" Siloami yelled out to the maids who were waiting on her in anger.

The maids scattered to search for Alcata. But Alcata was outside drying the clothes she had just finished washing. She was humming a song as she was setting the clothes to dry out in the hot sun.

"Alcata! We've been looking for you!" A maid yelled out. The young maid came running to Alcata. "Big trouble, it seems Siloami wants you!"

"Me! Now? Why does she want me for?" Alcata said confused. She had all these other maids but she always picked on her.

"Don't know but she seem angry. Best to be on your way. Hurry! She is in the tea room!" The maid said as she push Alcata towards the house.

Alcata was in front of the tea room door and took a huge breath to calm herself for what was to come. She open the door and walked in.

"I'm here, Siloami. You were looking for me." Alcata said while looking at Siloami who was sitting down in the grand chair that was in the tea room.

"Where were you?"

"Outside."

"Doing what?"

"I was tasked to wash the clothes and was drying them outside."

"Ok. Go and pour me tea."

Alcata went to the table where the tea set was at. She pour the hot water in the tea cup and put the right amount of sugar that Siloami liked.

"Your tea." Alcata said while handing it to Siloami.

"Hmm..." Siloami took the tea cup from Alcata and looked at her with a grin. She splash the hot tea at Alcata.

"Ahhh!" Alcata screamed in pain from the shock of the hot liquid that was now seeping into her maid uniform.

"Oh no! It seemed my hand slip. Be a dear and make me another tea." Siloami said as she handed the tea cup back to Alcata. Before Alcata took the tea cup, she wiped her hands dry on her uniform and glared at Siloami.

"Of course." Alcata said with gritted teeth. She took the tea cup and made a new tea for Siloami. She handed Siloami the tea cup and Siloami took it with a wicked smile on her face.

"Oh dear!" Siloami exclaimed as she pour the tea on the floor. "I'm not in the mood for tea anymore. Please clean it up."

"Of course."

Siloami snickered at Alcata as she got up from her chair and walked out of the room.

"Why that ugly devil just called me here just to make her tea and pour it everywhere for me to clean up?" Alcata muttered as she grabbed a rag and started to clean the spilled tea.
