While they were talking, Pinkie Pie has been in the basement for some time observing Twilight's lab while drinking bubbles of gum juice. While she was walking, something bumped her and accidentally spilled bubble gum juice on the portal which resulted in a continuous wave that also resulted in an imbalance between time and space. And it's up for the mane six to save the multiverse from combining one universe with another.
