Chapter 1: The Keeper of Second Chances

Elara Roselyn, Lucien Valerius, Kael Orion, and Lyra Celeste found themselves standing beneath a pathway lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees.

Soft pink petals drifted through the air, dancing gently in the breeze. The atmosphere felt warm and peaceful, unlike anything they had experienced before.

The four slowly walked forward.

The place seemed almost alive, as though the cherry blossom trees themselves were welcoming them home.

For a long moment, none of them spoke.

Elara gently touched a flower petal that landed in her palm. The warmth surrounding her felt strange. In her previous life, she had known nothing but betrayal, heartbreak, and regret during her final days. Yet here, she felt no pain.

Lucien glanced around cautiously. He had spent his life building an empire only to lose everything in the end. Was this heaven? A dream? Or punishment?

Kael shoved his hands into his pockets and frowned.

"This is weird."

Unlike the others, he couldn't relax. The place was too perfect. Too peaceful.

Meanwhile, Lyra stared at the beautiful scenery with wide eyes.

Flowers bloomed everywhere. Crystal-clear rivers reflected the sunlight. Butterflies danced through the air.

For someone who had spent most of her life feeling unwanted and alone, it felt like a paradise she had only dreamed about.

As they continued walking, they gradually became aware of one another.

They were strangers.

Yet somehow, each of them carried the same sadness in their eyes.

The sadness of people who had lost everything.

Then they heard it.

A beautiful voice filled with warmth and kindness.

Without realizing it, they followed the voice deeper into the mysterious realm.

Soon, they arrived at a vast clearing surrounded by flowers, rivers, and towering trees.

The moment they stepped into the area, a strange sense of calm washed over them.

Standing in the center was a breathtakingly beautiful woman.

Her long silver hair flowed like moonlight, reaching her waist. Golden butterflies fluttered around her, and flowers bloomed wherever she stepped.

Behind her was a radiant halo formed from countless golden stars.

Her golden eyes sparkled with warmth and affection.

She smiled gently.

"My dear children," she said softly. "How are you?"

The warmth in her voice immediately eased their hearts.

"I know your suffering. I know your regrets. I know how desperately you wished for another chance to change your fate."

The woman opened her arms.

"My sweet children, I have always watched over you."

The group stared at her in confusion.

"Who are you?" Kael finally asked.

The woman blinked.

"Oh my."

She laughed softly.

"I forgot to introduce myself."

She placed a hand over her heart and bowed gracefully.

"My name is Seraphina Aethelia."

"The Keeper of Second Chances."

The four exchanged shocked glances.

Seraphina continued smiling.

"Before we continue, I would like each of you to introduce yourselves."

After a moment of hesitation, Elara stepped forward.

"My name is Elara Roselyn."

Her hands trembled slightly.

"I trusted people who betrayed me and abandoned the family that truly loved me."

Regret filled her eyes.

"I died wishing I could change everything."

Next came Lucien.

"My name is Lucien Valerius."

His voice was calm but heavy.

"I spent my entire life chasing success."

A bitter smile appeared on his face.

"By the time I realized what truly mattered, I had already lost it."

Kael stepped forward.

"Kael Orion."

He looked away awkwardly.

"I threw away my family's future because of my stupidity."

His fists tightened.

"I thought I had all the time in the world."

Finally, Lyra spoke.

"My name is Lyra Celeste."

Her voice was barely above a whisper.

"I just wanted someone to love me."

Silence filled the clearing.

Even Seraphina's smile faded for a moment.

Then she gently patted Lyra's head.

"My poor child."

Tears gathered in Lyra's eyes.

Lucien stepped forward.

"Why were we chosen?"

Seraphina looked at all of them.

"Because each of you died with regret."

She paused.

"And because each of you still has a future worth saving."

Elara narrowed her eyes.

"Why help us?"

The question surprised everyone.

After everything she had suffered, trusting others was difficult.

Surely there were people more deserving than them.

Seraphina stared at them.

Then she crossed her arms.

"Because all of you are idiots."

Silence.

"What?" Kael asked.

"You heard me."

She pointed at them dramatically.

"You are intelligent people."

Then she pointed again.

"But absolutely terrible at judging other people."

The group immediately looked away.

Embarrassed.

"You couldn't tell the difference between people who loved you and people who wanted to use you."

Suddenly, a fluffy white creature leaped into Seraphina's arms.

Instantly her serious expression disappeared.

"My baby!"

The group stared.

Moments ago she looked like a divine goddess.

Now she looked like an overly excited pet owner.

After cuddling her pet, Seraphina cleared her throat.

"Anyway."

She raised one finger.

"There are rules."

A glowing screen appeared before them.

Rule One: Never tell anyone that you have been reborn.

Rule Two: I cannot directly interfere in your lives.

Rule Three: You may work together and support one another.

Rule Four: Trust must be earned, not freely given.

Lyra hesitantly raised her hand.

"Will we ever meet each other again?"

Seraphina smiled.

"Of course."

"You have all been given a special gift."

The air shimmered.

"Telepathy."

The four blinked.

"You will be able to communicate through your minds."

Another screen appeared.

Mission One: Discover the truth about yourselves.

Mission Two: Expose the people who ruined your lives.

Mission Three: Find genuine happiness and live freely.

Mission Four: Build the future you deserve.

A bright light began surrounding them.

"Oh!"

Seraphina suddenly remembered something.

"One last thing."

The group looked at her.

"You are all returning five years into the past."

"What?!"

The clearing erupted with shocked voices.

Lyra immediately turned pale.

"They'll bully me again..."

Seraphina gently held her hands.

"No, my child."

Her golden eyes softened.

"This time, you are not alone."

For the first time, Lyra smiled.

Elara clenched her fists.

"This time, I will protect my family."

Lucien lowered his head.

"I will become a better husband, father, and son."

Kael smirked.

"I won't waste my second chance."

Lyra wiped away her tears.

"And I will finally learn how to live."

Seraphina's smile grew brighter.

"Then go."

"Live."

"Fight."

"Discover the truth."

"And create the future you deserve."

The light consumed them completely.

And thus, their second chance began.
