My Precious
Syra stared up at her father, her face red from all the anger but she still didn't say a thing. Even if she did, he was not going to listen to her. She placed her fork down on the plate and looked up at her aunt. She immediately avoided her eyes like she had been doing ever since they arrived at the dining table. She looked at her two elder brothers who did the same and then her father. Except, he didn't look away like the rest but maintained eye contact. Syra stared at him with so much hate. That's might just be the only thing they had in common, They both disliked each other.
"You do know staring is rude, Syra." He said and she looked back at her plate. "There is a big difference between staring and glaring. What I am doing right now is called glaring." Orius slammed his hand on the table but she barely moved. "You really should mind the way you speak to your father!" Syra shrugged standing up from her seat. "I would if you ever once treated me like I was your biological daughter. There you are trying to get rid of me and asking me to respect you, father."
"It's for your good, you ungrateful moron!" Syra raised a brow before a smile crossed her lips. A smile he remembered too well. That evil smile. Rhosyn! The crooked wicked one-sided smile was so familiar. Syra noticed the expression on his face and chuckled. Was he really that much of a coward? "You can get rid of me but not your guilt." A laugh escaped her lips as she walked up the stairs. As evil as her mother, he thought.
Syra sat in her room in front of the mirror. She did look a lot like her mother. The white hair. The silver eyes. She even got her mother's height which wasn't exactly tall. She picked up the comb brushing it through her curly hair. She hadn't even met her but with the few definitions of her she heard, she was able to fix the resemblance. Three days, she thought. Three days and she'd be leaving this excuse of a home. But with who? She never expected much from Orius anyway.
She walked to the window staring at the dark clouds and twinkling stars scattered in the sky, all around the moon. She turned to her nightdress perfectly laid on the bed. She slowly changed into it before changing into before climbing into her bed. She slowly turned off the light from the lamp and staring at the empty ceiling. She pictured how her life would be if she got married. A man monitoring her every move. She didn't want that but she eventually was going to get married so it'd rather happen now. And she wouldn't have to deal with her father anymore.
She sighed wondering how the man she was married to would be. She remembered how difficult it was for them to carry out the necessary wedding rituals without meeting each other but then she was only fourteen. It was five years ago. She remembered how scared she was when a few of the maids told her a wife had to head for her husband's house after marriage. But luckily, he gave her time. Time to grow. Sighing, she shut her mind of all thoughts and decided to sleep.
