To avoid suspicion, Lucifer chose a new name for himself.
From now on, he would be known as Louis.
Disguised as a kind and respectable young man, he walked through the streets of Ange City until he spotted Evelin standing near the abandoned Golden Church.
For a moment, he simply watched her.
Evelin was exactly as the reports had described.
Beautiful.
Innocent.
Intelligent.
Yet there was also a quiet strength in her eyes that made her different from others.
"So this is Heaven's favored angel," Louis thought.
A smile appeared on his face.
"Interesting."
Approaching her calmly, he greeted her with a friendly smile.
"Good morning. You seem new to the city."
Evelin turned toward him.
"Yes. I arrived recently."
Louis nodded.
"If you're looking for a place to stay, I know a nearby inn. The owner is honest and the rooms are comfortable."
Evelin studied him carefully.
As an angel, she could usually sense darkness within a person's heart.
Yet something felt strange.
She sensed no evil energy.
No corruption.
No trace of darkness.
Unknown to her, Lucifer had hidden his true nature perfectly.
Believing him to be an ordinary citizen, Evelin relaxed slightly.
"Thank you," she said politely.
"I would appreciate your help."
Louis smiled warmly.
"It would be my pleasure."
Inside, however, his thoughts were very different.
"She suspects nothing."
The game had begun.
As they walked toward the inn together, neither spoke much.
Evelin was focused on her mission to restore the abandoned church.
Louis was focused on understanding his new opponent.
Both were hiding secrets.
And both knew that sooner or later, only one side would succeed.
The battle between light and darkness had finally begun.
Louis walked beside Evelin through the quiet streets of Ange City.
"So, what brings you to this city?" he asked with a friendly smile.
"I have important work to do," Evelin replied carefully.
Louis nodded.
"You seem like a kind person. The people here could use someone like you."
Inside, Lucifer was pleased.
Everything was going according to plan.
"Excellent," he thought. "She trusts me already."
Just then, an elderly priest appeared from a nearby alley.
His white beard reached his chest, and he carried a wooden cross in one hand.
The old priest stopped suddenly.
His eyes widened as he stared at Louis.
For a brief moment, he saw through the disguise.
"Darkness..." he whispered.
Louis's smile disappeared.
The priest quickly took out a small bottle.
"In the name of God Almighty!"
He sprinkled holy water toward Louis and began praying loudly.
The moment the holy water touched him, dark smoke erupted from Louis's skin.
"Agh!"
Louis staggered backward.
His disguise began to crack.
His warm brown eyes turned crimson.
Dark energy burst from his body.
For a moment, his hidden wings appeared behind him.
The streets trembled.
Evelin's eyes widened.
"Lucifer!"
The truth was finally revealed.
The old priest continued praying.
"Holy Father, protect us from evil!"
Lucifer glared at the priest with hatred.
"You foolish old man."
Evelin immediately summoned her angelic power.
Golden light surrounded her body.
Her human disguise vanished.
Brilliant white wings spread behind her.
The street became filled with holy light.
"You deceived me," Evelin said.
Lucifer laughed coldly.
"Of course I did."
A spear of golden light appeared in Evelin's hand.
Without hesitation, she charged.
Lucifer blocked the attack with dark energy, but the holy power pushed him backward.
The clash of light and darkness shook the surrounding buildings.
Evelin attacked again.
And again.
Each strike forced Lucifer farther back.
The old priest continued praying, strengthening the holy energy around them.
Lucifer realized the situation was turning against him.
Without his full power and caught by surprise, victory was impossible.
His eyes narrowed.
"This battle isn't over."
Dark shadows gathered around him.
"We will meet again, Evelin."
With a burst of black smoke, Lucifer vanished into the darkness.
Silence returned to the street.
Evelin lowered her weapon.
The old priest approached her slowly.
"You are not an ordinary traveler, are you?"
Evelin looked at him and smiled gently.
"No, Father."
The priest nodded.
"I suspected as much."
Then he turned toward the abandoned Golden Church standing in the distance.
"Come. There is much we need to discuss."
Together, they began walking toward the forgotten church, unaware that Lucifer was already planning his next move.
As Evelin and the old priest walked toward the abandoned Golden Church, the priest began sharing his story.
"My name is Father Matthew," he said gently.
"Many years ago, I came to Ange City as a missionary."
Evelin listened carefully.
"I preached the Gospel, taught the Scriptures, and helped those in need. Little by little, people began accepting Jesus Christ. Families came to faith. The church became full every Sunday."
A smile appeared on the old priest's face as he remembered those days.
"It was the happiest period of my life."
Evelin felt joy hearing his story.
"Thank God," she said warmly. "Your work helped many people."
The priest nodded.
"Everything was going well."
His expression suddenly became sad.
"Then he arrived."
"Lucifer?" Evelin asked.
Father Matthew sighed.
"Not openly."
"He came disguised as a wealthy factory owner."
Evelin became interested.
"What did he do?"
"He was clever."
The priest looked toward the city.
"He donated money to the poor. He built houses. He gave jobs to struggling families."
"Everyone loved him."
"Everyone trusted him."
Evelin frowned.
"But it was all a lie."
Father Matthew nodded.
"Behind his kindness was manipulation."
"He whispered doubts into people's hearts."
"He spread fear."
"He twisted the truth."
The priest's voice became heavier.
"Eventually, rumors began spreading throughout the city."
"Rumors that the Golden Church was cursed."
"Rumors that evil spirits haunted the building."
"Rumors that anyone who entered would suffer misfortune."
Evelin's eyes widened.
"And the people believed him?"
"Yes."
The old priest lowered his head.
"Fear is powerful."
"I tried to stop the rumors."
"I preached."
"I prayed."
"I visited families personally and told them the truth."
"But the rumors kept spreading."
Soon fewer people attended church.
Then only a handful remained.
Eventually, the church stood empty.
The city that once praised God now avoided the church completely.
"I fought as hard as I could," Father Matthew said quietly.
"But it was hopeless."
For a moment, silence filled the road.
Then Evelin placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You did not fail."
The priest looked at her.
"You remained faithful."
A gentle smile appeared on Father Matthew's face.
"Thank you, child."
Evelin looked toward the distant church.
The building was damaged.
The people were afraid.
Lucifer's influence was everywhere.
But her determination only grew stronger.
"If fear closed this church," Evelin said firmly, "then faith will reopen it."
The old priest smiled.
For the first time in many years, hope returned to his heart.
The days that followed were not easy.
Most of the people in Ange City had lost hope.
They believed they were broken beyond repair.
Many thought God had abandoned them, while others believed their sins were too great to be forgiven.
As a result, very few people still believed.
Only a small group remained faithful.
Among them were several orphans whom Father Matthew had adopted and cared for over the years, along with a married couple who lived in the priest's home and helped him maintain the abandoned church.
Evelin decided to stay with them.
Each day she taught them how to pray with faith and sincerity.
She shared stories about God's love, mercy, and forgiveness.
She encouraged them to trust in God even when life seemed hopeless.
Soon, she began teaching them hymns and songs of worship.
As an angel, Evelin possessed a beautiful heavenly voice.
Whenever she sang, her voice filled the church like gentle sunlight breaking through dark clouds.
The songs carried a holy power.
People who heard them felt peace enter their hearts.
Bitterness began to fade.
Fear became weaker.
Many found themselves remembering the faith they had once abandoned.
Word quickly spread throughout the city.
"The abandoned church is no longer empty."
"A young woman sings there every evening."
"The old priest is preaching again."
Curious citizens slowly began visiting the church.
At first only a few came.
Then a few more.
Then dozens.
The once-abandoned church slowly came back to life.
The orphans helped clean the building.
The married couple repaired broken furniture and welcomed visitors.
Father Matthew preached with renewed hope.
And every evening, Evelin sang hymns that lifted people's hearts toward God.
Day by day, more people began believing in Jesus Christ.
Many repented.
Many forgave one another.
Many found hope for the first time in years.
The light of faith was returning to Ange City.
However, not everyone was pleased.
Far away, in his dark palace, Lucifer watched the growing crowds around the Golden Church.
The smile disappeared from his face.
His fingers tightened around the armrest of his throne.
"Interesting," he said coldly.
"It seems the little angel is making progress."
His crimson eyes narrowed.
"But this is only the beginning."
Darkness gathered around him.
"If faith is spreading through the city..."
A cruel smile slowly returned.
"...then I shall give the people a new reason to fear."
And with that, Lucifer began preparing his next scheme against Evelin and the Golden Church.
Meanwhile, deep within his dark kingdom, Lucifer's rage knew no bounds.
The reports kept arriving.
More people were returning to the Golden Church.
More people were praying.
More people were turning back to God.
Each report felt like an insult.
"Impossible!"
With a furious roar, Lucifer hurled a crystal goblet across the throne room. It shattered against a wall.
The demons serving him stepped back nervously.
Several fallen angels tried to calm him.
"My lord, please—"
"Silence!"
A wave of dark energy exploded from him.
Tables overturned.
Torches crashed to the floor.
The entire throne room trembled.
"How dare she!"
His crimson eyes burned with fury.
"How dare that angel destroy years of my work!"
Another object shattered against the wall.
"I built fear in their hearts."
"I filled them with doubt."
"I convinced them they were beyond forgiveness."
"And now she comes and ruins everything!"
Dark laughter suddenly escaped his lips.
"Ha... ha... ha..."
The laughter grew louder.
"HA! HA! HA! HA!"
His servants exchanged worried glances.
Lucifer slowly stood from his throne.
The laughter stopped.
A cruel smile appeared on his face.
"You have won a small victory, Evelin."
"But this war is far from over."
He looked toward the distant city through a magical mirror.
The Golden Church glowed with holy light.
People were praying.
Children were singing hymns.
The Holy Spirit's presence surrounded the church.
Lucifer clenched his fists.
Ever since the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, his power over faithful believers had weakened.
He could no longer enter holy places freely.
He could no longer approach those protected by sincere faith and prayer.
The church was becoming a sanctuary beyond his reach.
And that infuriated him.
The prayers of the people were cleansing their hearts.
Their repentance was driving away the darkness he had carefully planted within them.
The more they prayed, the weaker his influence became.
Lucifer stared at the church in silence.
Then a wicked smile slowly returned.
"If I cannot attack them from within..."
His eyes glowed red.
"...then I will attack from outside."
The fallen angels looked up.
A new plan was already forming in their master's mind.
One far more dangerous than the last.
And somewhere in Ange City, unaware of the storm that was coming, Evelin continued singing hymns beneath the restored church roof as the people gathered around her in prayer.
For the first time in many years, hope had returned to the city.
But so had the attention of the ruler of darkness.
Deep within his dark kingdom, Lucifer sat silently upon his throne.
The Golden Church had become a fortress of faith.
Prayers filled its halls.
Hymns echoed through its walls.
The people who once lived in fear were beginning to find hope.
Lucifer hated it.
"If I cannot enter the church myself," he growled, "then I shall send those who can corrupt hearts from within."
He rose from his throne.
Dark flames erupted around the chamber.
One by one, seven powerful figures emerged from the shadows.
These were Lucifer's most trusted ministers.
The rulers of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Each had ruined countless lives and led many souls away from the path of righteousness.
The first stepped forward.
Vainglory, the Minister of Pride.
He wore a golden crown and constantly admired his own reflection.
"I shall fill their hearts with arrogance," he said.
The second emerged.
Greed, the Minister of Covetousness.
His hands were covered with jewels and gold.
"I shall make them desire wealth more than God."
The third appeared.
Lust, the Minister of Illicit Desire.
She smiled sweetly while hiding countless traps behind her charm.
"I shall tempt them with desires that lead them away from wisdom."
The fourth stepped from the darkness.
Envy, the Minister of Jealousy.
His eyes burned whenever others succeeded.
"I shall make them resent the blessings of others."
The fifth appeared.
Gluttony, the Minister of Excess.
He constantly sought more pleasure and satisfaction.
"I shall teach them that nothing is ever enough."
The sixth minister emerged.
Wrath, the Minister of Anger.
Flames danced around his clenched fists.
"I shall turn small disagreements into hatred and conflict."
Finally came the seventh.
Sloth, the Minister of Laziness.
His eyes were half closed.
"I shall convince them to abandon their duties and ignore what is right."
Lucifer smiled.
"Excellent."
Then he waved his hand.
A vision of Heaven appeared before them.
Above the clouds stood the Seven Heavenly Ministers.
Humility.
Charity.
Chastity.
Gratitude.
Temperance.
Patience.
Diligence.
These heavenly servants guided people toward virtue, faith, and righteousness.
Lucifer's smile faded.
"They have opposed us since the beginning."
His eyes glowed crimson.
"The church grows stronger every day."
The ministers bowed.
"What are your orders, my lord?"
Lucifer looked toward the image of the Golden Church.
Inside, Evelin was teaching children to sing hymns.
People prayed together.
Hope was spreading.
"Go."
His voice echoed through the throne room.
"Plant temptation where faith is weakest."
"Turn neighbors against one another."
"Turn gratitude into envy."
"Turn patience into anger."
"Turn diligence into laziness."
"Turn humility into pride."
The seven ministers knelt before their master.
"As you command."
One by one, they vanished into the darkness.
Lucifer watched them leave.
Far away, the bells of the Golden Church began to ring.
A storm was coming.
Lucifer sat upon his dark throne, watching the image of the Golden Church through a magical mirror.
The church was thriving.
People were praying.
Children were singing hymns.
Faith was spreading throughout Ange City.
His eyes narrowed with anger.
"Evelin has become a greater problem than I expected."
The Seven Ministers of Sin stood before him.
Vainglory.
Greed.
Lust.
Envy.
Gluttony.
Wrath.
And Sloth.
Each waited for their master's command.
Lucifer rose from his throne.
"You know your mission."
The ministers bowed.
"My lord?"
Lucifer pointed toward the image of the church.
"Destroy her work."
His voice echoed through the hall.
"Plant temptation wherever faith begins to grow."
"Turn the people against one another."
"Corrupt their hearts."
"And bring Evelin to me."
The Seven Ministers exchanged confident smiles.
Lucifer's eyes glowed crimson.
"I want her faith broken."
"I want her hope destroyed."
"I want her to become a fallen angel."
The throne room became silent.
Then Vainglory stepped forward.
"We shall not fail, my lord."
One by one, the ministers began changing their appearance.
Their demonic forms disappeared.
Horns vanished.
Dark wings faded.
Their sinister auras became hidden.
Soon they looked like ordinary humans.
Vainglory became a wealthy nobleman admired by the city.
Greed became a successful businessman.
Lust became a charming and persuasive woman.
Envy became a respected citizen who secretly spread jealousy.
Gluttony became the owner of the city's finest restaurants.
Wrath disguised himself as a passionate community leader.
Sloth appeared as a friendly man who encouraged people to avoid responsibility.
No ordinary person would recognize them.
Lucifer smiled.
"Excellent."
"Humans rarely fear evil when it wears a friendly face."
The Seven Ministers bowed one final time.
"As you command, Lord Lucifer."
One after another, they vanished into the darkness.
Far away, in the Golden Church, Evelin was teaching the children a hymn.
The church bells rang joyfully.
The people laughed and prayed together.
None of them realized that seven dangerous visitors were already making their way toward Ange City.
And this time, they were not coming openly as demons.
They were coming disguised as friends.
