Chapter 5- REAL VS FAKE

Evelin vs. Pride

The battle continued beneath the darkening sky.

Golden light and black energy collided again and again.

Every clash shook the surrounding streets.

Evelin raised her spear of holy light.

Pride merely smiled.

"You still don't understand, do you?"

Dark magic gathered around his fingertips.

Unlike Wrath, he did not rely on brute force.

Unlike Gluttony, he did not seek excess.

Unlike Lust, he did not use charm.

Pride attacked the heart.

The mind.

The soul.

"Evelin," he said softly.

"You are strong."

The moment those words left his lips, dark energy shot toward her.

Evelin blocked it with holy light.

But something felt wrong.

The darkness didn't attack her body.

It slipped past her defenses and entered her mind.

"No!"

Evelin's eyes widened.

Suddenly, the world around her vanished.

The streets disappeared.

The church disappeared.

Everything dissolved into darkness.

She found herself standing alone within her own mindscape.

An endless world formed from memories, emotions, hopes, and fears.

Pride appeared before her.

His human disguise was gone.

His crimson eyes glowed in the darkness.

A golden crown rested upon his head.

His red-and-black wings stretched behind him.

He smiled confidently.

"Welcome, Evelin."

"To the battlefield where I am strongest."

The scenery shifted.

Suddenly she stood before thousands of cheering people.

The crowds knelt before her.

"Evelin!"

"Our savior!"

"Our hero!"

"Our queen!"

The people praised her endlessly.

Pride slowly walked beside her.

"Look at them."

"They love you."

"They admire you."

"They need you."

Evelin remained silent.

Pride continued.

"The church is growing because of you."

"The people pray because of you."

"The children smile because of you."

"Without you, none of this would exist."

The voices grew louder.

More worship.

More admiration.

More praise.

Pride smiled.

"Doesn't it feel good?"

"To be important?"

"To be admired?"

"To be above everyone else?"

For a brief moment, doubt appeared within Evelin's heart.

Then she remembered Father Matthew.

The orphan children.

The faithful people.

Most importantly—

She remembered God.

Immediately the darkness around her weakened.

"No."

Pride's smile faltered slightly.

Evelin lifted her head.

"No."

"The church does not belong to me."

"The people do not belong to me."

"The glory does not belong to me."

Golden light began spreading through the mindscape.

Everything around them trembled.

Pride frowned.

"You are lying."

Evelin shook her head.

"No."

"I am only a servant."

"The victory belongs to God."

The light grew brighter.

Pride's expression darkened.

For the first time since entering her mind, he realized something.

This battle would not be as easy as he thought.

And the true battle between Pride and Humility had only just begun.

Evelin's POV

"Urgh..."

I slowly opened my eyes.

"Haaah..."

My head hurt.

Everything around me was silent.

Dark.

Endless darkness stretched in every direction.

I immediately stood up.

"Where am I?"

My voice echoed through the void.

No answer came.

Fear crept into my heart.

"Father?"

I looked around desperately.

"God, where are You?"

Only silence answered me.

Then I noticed a distant figure standing within the darkness.

A shadow.

Watching.

Waiting.

Immediately, I understood.

"This is my mindscape."

Anger surged through me.

"Pride."

My hands clenched into fists.

"How dare you?"

How dare he enter the sacred place of my soul?

How dare he try to corrupt the purity God had entrusted to me?

Holy light began gathering around my body.

I prepared to strike.

But before I could move—

The darkness vanished.

Everything shattered like broken glass.

A brilliant light swallowed the entire world.

"What?!"

The scenery changed instantly.

I found myself standing in a breathtaking realm.

Golden palaces stretched beyond the horizon.

Rivers sparkled like liquid crystal.

Diamonds and precious stones reflected heavenly light.

Countless flowers bloomed across fields of silver and gold.

The air itself felt peaceful.

Warm.

Comforting.

Far above, magnificent towers touched the clouds.

And everywhere I looked, I saw souls and angels.

Thousands.

Perhaps millions.

They sang beautiful hymns.

Their voices blended together like a heavenly choir.

Some knelt in prayer.

Others praised God with joyful smiles.

Yet none of them appeared forced.

Their worship was sincere.

Their happiness was genuine.

The entire realm seemed united by love.

By faith.

By God's presence.

Tears slowly formed in my eyes.

The sight was beautiful.

More beautiful than words could describe.

Every soul seemed connected to one another.

And connected to God.

A warmth filled my heart.

The same warmth I always felt whenever I drew near to my Father.

I placed a hand over my chest.

"Father..."

For a moment, all fear disappeared.

Yet something still troubled me.

Why was I here?

Was this truly a vision from God?

Or another illusion created by Pride?

I looked around cautiously.

The beauty was undeniable.

But I knew the battle was not over.

And somewhere beyond this paradise, Pride was still watching.

Waiting.

Planning his next move

.

Evelin's POV

"No..." Tears filled my eyes.

"I don't want this."

Yet my body continued moving.

Step.

Step.

Step.

Each step carried me closer to the throne.

The angels continued singing.

Their voices filled the heavens.

"All glory to the Eternal Queen."

"The Alpha and the Omega."

"The First and the Last."

The words pierced my heart like knives.

"No!"

I covered my ears.

"Stop saying that!"

Those titles belonged to my Father.

Not me.

Never me.

But the worship only grew louder.

The entire realm trembled with praise.

The throne shone brighter and brighter.

As if it were inviting me.

Calling me.

Promising me everything.

Power.

Authority.

Honor.

Glory.

The invisible force tightened around me.

My feet reached the final step.

I stood before the throne.

For a moment, the entire heavenly realm became silent.

Every angel waited.

Every soul watched.

I could feel countless eyes upon me.

The pressure was unbearable.

Then a familiar voice echoed through the hall.

Soft.

Smooth.

Dangerously gentle.

"Why do you resist?"

My heart sank.

Pride.

Though I could not see him, I knew he was there.

Hidden somewhere within the illusion.

"You have served faithfully."

"You have sacrificed so much."

"You deserve recognition."

"You deserve honor."

"You deserve this throne."

His words slithered through my mind.

Trying to wrap around my thoughts.

Trying to make me believe them.

Then the throne changed.

For a brief moment, I saw visions.

Cities praising me.

Angels obeying me.

Nations speaking my name.

Entire worlds bowing before me.

The temptation was overwhelming.

Not because I wanted those things.

But because the illusion made them feel possible.

I closed my eyes tightly.

"Father..."

My voice trembled.

"I don't want their worship."

The visions flickered.

"I don't want their praise."

The throne cracked slightly.

"I don't want their glory."

The illusion began shaking.

"I only want You."

Suddenly the singing faltered.

The angels froze.

The golden light around the throne flickered.

For the first time, fear appeared within the illusion itself.

And somewhere in the darkness, Pride's confident smile began to fade.

Because Evelin had remembered something he could never understand.

Love for God was stronger than love for oneself.

And humility was stronger than pride.

Yet the force only grew stronger.

And as I reached the throne, a terrifying thought entered my mind:

When they saw me, they immediately knelt before me.

They bowed their heads and began praising me.

"She is powerful."

"She is great."

"She is everything."

"She is the Alpha and the Omega."

Their words shocked me.

I didn't want their worship.

I only wanted to see my Father.

My God.

The One I adored and loved above all else.

They led me toward a magnificent throne room.

My heart raced with excitement.

"Father..."

I smiled.

"I can't wait to see You."

I wanted to run to Him.

I wanted to hug Him.

I wanted to thank Him for everything.

But when I entered the throne room, my smile vanished.

God was not there.

Instead, the people forced me to sit upon the throne.

"No..."

I tried to stand.

But my body refused to obey me.

I couldn't move.

I couldn't control myself.

Guilt filled my heart.

I didn't belong there.

That throne wasn't mine.

It belonged to my Father.

Then I felt a strange power flowing through me.

It was immense.

Terrifying.

Yet it felt different from God's presence.

Whenever I felt God's holy power, it filled me with warmth, peace, love, and comfort.

This power felt cold.

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

Then a voice echoed through the room.

It carried the same unsettling feeling.

"Evelin."

The voice sounded gentle.

Yet something about it felt wrong.

"You are stronger than God."

"You are greater than the other angels."

"Why should you bow before Him?"

"Why worship someone weaker than you?"

"You deserve this throne."

"Accept me."

"Betray Him."

Every word pierced my heart.

Tears filled my eyes.

How dare anyone speak about my Father that way?

The pain was unbearable.

I covered my ears.

"No..."

Yet the voice continued.

And with every passing moment, I felt dirtier.

More corrupted.

More ashamed.

I fell to my knees.

"Father..."

Tears streamed down my face.

"I'm sorry."

"I don't deserve You."

"I'm weak."

"I'm tainted."

"I'm corrupted."

"But I don't want this."

"I don't want this throne."

"I only want You."

"Please don't leave me."

"I don't want power."

"I don't want glory."

"I want my Father."

"I want my God."

I cried harder.

"Please forgive me."

"Please help me."

Then suddenly—

A brilliant light appeared.

The darkness trembled.

The throne room shook.

And immediately I felt it.

Warmth.

Peace.

Love.

Comfort.

Hope.

The same feeling I had always known.

"Father..."

I looked up.

There He was.

Without hesitation, I ran toward Him.

I embraced Him tightly.

And the darkness surrounding me shattered.

The corruption vanished.

The lies disappeared.

The power of Pride broke apart like glass.

Holy light filled the throne room.

The darkness had no place left to hide.

I held onto my Father tightly.

I didn't want to let go.

Not ever again.

Then I noticed something.

A wound.

Fresh.

Painful.

My heart sank.

"Father!"

I looked at Him with worry.

"You're hurt!"

Tears filled my eyes again.

I tried to heal Him.

I searched for the one responsible.

But He simply looked at me with loving eyes.

Eyes filled with compassion.

Eyes that showed how deeply He loved me.

Then He smiled.

"Worry not, My child."

"It is nothing."

"As long as you are safe, I am happy."

His words broke my heart.

I realized how much pain my doubts had caused.

I lowered my head.

More guilt filled me.

"I'm sorry, Father."

But He gently placed His hand upon my head.

"There is nothing to fear."

"I forgive you."

His voice was warm and kind.

The guilt inside me slowly faded.

Then He lovingly patted my head.

And for the first time in what felt like forever, I smiled.

"You are not alone."

"I will always be with you."

Joy filled my heart.

The loneliness disappeared.

The fear vanished.

I felt safe again.

I hugged Him tightly.

And deep within my heart, I made a promise.

No matter what trials came.

No matter what temptations awaited.

I would continue trusting my Father.

And with His help, I would keep moving forward.
