"You are 2 months pregnant."

Those words were something I was not expecting to hear.

My dearest husband seemed extremely worried as he went to work, so I just wanted to check at the doctor's, just to ease his worry...

I was not expecting such big news...

"You seem very surprised, is it an unexpected pregnancy?" The doctor gave me a sympathetic look. I thought for a second and decided to tell her everything.

"My husband is a demon. A very high ranking demon. I do have some demon blood in my veins, but it is a very weak trait. When we got married we tried to have a baby many times, but were told that we won't ever be able to have a child." -Hana

"I see. Was your doctor also...?"

"Ah yes, he was a demon. My husband's family wanted me to get tested. There we found out that I'm prominently an Angel. That is why us having children was ruled out really early on." -Hana

The doctor looked down at my papers and spoke with a wide smile: "That doctor should have sent you towards an Angel doctor if that was the case. However, looking at your blood work it seems that you are pregnant. Since this is an Angel hospital I won't be able to provide you with termination options, but I can forward you towards some Demon doctors."

I shook my head no.

After that we had discussions about pregnancy plans and my options and soon after I left the hospital.

As I left I was filled with this feeling of excitement and giddiness that I've never felt before.

I remembered what doctor told me

'Even if what your old doctor said was true, your ability to concive should not have been completely ruled out. Your husband is a healthy young demon, you are a very healthy young halfling. You having children was never out of the question, think of it as a rarity.'

I happily hopped towards the Café near the clinic, bought myself some fruity tee and ran towards my husband's work office.

My husband's is not the biggest fan of me coming to visit his workplace.

I am seen as Boss' wife, so no one mistreated me, but they do have THE looks in their eyes. Not all, but many younger members.

I approached the gate of the small office building in the middle of the bustling city, but was quickly stopped with a harsh grab at my shoulder.

I was confused as this has never happened with Liam, the door guard, before.

But when I looked at the perpetrator, I was greeted by a very young and pretty face in return.

There was a young, around 21 years old, fresh looking face glaring at me.

"Miss, this area is off limits." The young man said with a pretty stern voice and look on his face. It seems like he was yet to be informed about my existence.

"Is it?" I responded in cutesy way. I thought playing dumb would be pretty fun in this scenario.

"Are you guarding the doors alone?"

I asked him at which he responded with 'None of your business'. Cursed me out and told me to leave.

I found it very funny.

I knew that Liam was in charge of training the newbies and assumed he probably left the kid alone for a bit. So waiting would be perfect.

I was not approaching the door anymore, so he couldn't do anything to me. I was just standing at the side.

However, it was winter, and I was getting cold. I was getting worried as well, because now I'm sharing my body with our future child. I couldn't catch a cold.

I wad tempted to call Ren, but just as I took out my phone I heard a deep voice

"Mistress?!"

It was Liam, running towards me holding a bag from a pharmacy near the office.

"OH Liam. Hello." I turned around and smiled at bewildered Liam.

"OH dear, what are you doing here. Boss didn't inform me about you coming over..."

"Ah I came by because I have something important to talk to Ren about. Is he in?"

As we were talking the newbie approached us in confusion.

"Yeah, but why are you outside. Boss is in. Please go inside and warm up."

I nodded with a smile and passed by the newbie.

It seems that Liam called Ren, and told him about me as well, because Ren was rushing down the stairs as soon as I stepped in.

"Ah, what are you doing here so early. I told you to rest so that we can go to the Café later..."

I giggled and was promptly escorted to his office by Ren himself.

His office was very simple. He had one desk, a chair and a TV. Just a few years back he added a couch and a resting area in case I come over to visit him. He warms my heart sometimes.

"I bought us some lunch!" I waved the tea I bought at the Café as he came over and gave me a big hug.

"Did you wait outside for long" I shook my head no, he kissed my forehead.

It seems that he was measuring my body temperature with a kiss, because he had a worried expression on his face.

"You are still feverish, you should've stayed home..."

"I actually went to the hospital!" I explained taking out the prescription bag I received from my doctor. He showed me a worried expression and slowly took the small bag I was holding from my hands.

"This is actually the reason I came over. Come on, look inside it" I smiled and pushed him towards opening the bag.

As soon as he looked inside the bag, his eyes went wide. He looked at me in disbelief and gave me a wide smile. Even teared up a little.

"You are pregnant?"

I nodded and he gave me a tight hug.

Ren always wanted a baby, we even considered adopting if a demon/angel/halfing was up for adoption. His reaction made me sure that he would be a good dad.

The doctor told me another thing: 'Since you are a half, and this baby will mostlikely be a demon, I recommend giving it up. Your demon trait is too low to be able to house a demon baby. There is a high chance you will die.'

I rejected the doctor's recommendation. I knew I wouldn't die, but if I did, I wanted to leave my husband something of me in this world.

As someone who was never loved, I wanted to preserve his love in any way I could.

I'm not very fond of life anyway, if I was offered a high enough price to die for, I would do it.

But it would break my husband's heart.

"Let us celebrate!" My husband spoke through sniffles.

I decided I will bring my husband the greatest happiness in the whole wide world, by risking my life for something he would cherish the most.
