CHAPTER ONE: KNOWING YOU

[Snow school]

"GOODMORNING MY DEAR STUDENTS! I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT WE WILL BE HAVING A CONTEST HERE INSIDE THE CAMPUS. AND MY DEAR TEACHERS YOU NEED TO SELECT THE MOST TALENTED STUDENTS IN YOUR CLASS AFTER OUR MEETING AND WE WILL HAVE A MEETING 10 MINUTES AFTER I SPOKE HERE, THERE WILL BE NO CLASS IN THE FIRST PERIOD AND I WOULD LIKE ALL THE STUDENTS TO DO A SELF STUDY. THAT'S ALL I WANT TO SAY FOR NOW AND MY DEAR STUDENTS YOU WILL KNOW ABOUT THE CONTEST AFTER OUR MEETING. GOODMORNING AGAIN AND STUDY HARD. MY DEAR TEACHERS COME TO MY OFFICE NOW." The Principals voice just appears, and that made Joyce happy because

"I will go to the basketball gym right now and play," Joyce spoke out her thought. Since Joyce loves to play Basketball, she is always going to the gym before and after her class, the thing that principal said made her happy because this morning she woke up late.

*At the Basketball gym*

The time she opens the door she saw a boy playing basketball, then she just went to the locker and change.

After she changes.

"Hey!" Watch out The boy who is paying shouted because the ball is about to hit Joyce,

"Ah!" Joyce closes her eyes and covers her face,

She just hears that someone crashed at the corner, when she slowly opens her eyes she saw

"Oh my! What happen to you?" she asked, she doesnt have any idea that what happened to him was because of her, she just go near him and asked,

"What happened!?" she asked again she doesn't have any idea,

"You..." the boy suddenly lost his consciousness,

"Hey wake up!" She tried to wake him but she failed, she then lifts him and runs to bring him to the infirmary,

"Miss, please help him, he lost his consciousness!" Joyce pleased the nurse inside the infirmary,

"What happened to him?" The nurse asked,

"I...I dont know!" Until now she still doesn't have any idea,

"Okay! So please step aside first!" The nurse said and then start to check and treat his body.

While the nurse is still treating him I rashly run back to the school gym to change.

After 15 minutes of treating the boy,

"Is he alright?" Joyce asked,

"Luckily no broken bones, you dont what happen to him? Because as what I saw while treating him I think he runs and crashed at the corner thats why his shoulder is injured and because of the pain, he lost his conscious!" Nurse said.

"Ah!" Joyce already remember what happens and it is because of her, she just suddenly realize,

"You really dont know? What kind of a girlfriend are you?" The nurse said and then just go outside the infirmary,

"You!..." Joyce doesnt have a chance to speak because the nurse rashly goes outside and closes the door.

"I just remembered and he's not my boyfriend!" she whispered

She just let the nurse go then she opens the curtain and just look at him,

*The door opens*

"Please make sure to look after him first, I will be back to give you the medicine and I will discuss to you all of the things that you need to follow," the nurse comes back and inform Joyce,

"Okay!" Joyce quickly reply,

"What!!..." Does that mean that I will be in charge of taking care of him? she just realized her duty after she responds to the nurse,

"How stupid I am!" She said then snap her forehead.

She sits beside him, 10 minutes later she fell asleep.

The boy wakes up,

"Haaaaa!" the boy startled when he saw a girl lying in his arms, thats the first time in his life that a girl sleep in his arms,

"Haaaaa!" You're already awake she also startled

"Ahh!" the boy feel the pain in his shoulder,

"Hey!" Dont move, your shoulder is injured, Joyce said,

"Exactly! I know that and as what I remember its because of you!" He said arrogantly,

"What an arrogant reply! But who the hell said that you need to save me," she replies, but she doesnt know what emotion she will make in front of him, she doesnt know either thankful or pissed emotion because of his attitude,

"And who the hell told you that I did save you? Im practicing to save the ball from outside but youre in my way so I got nervous, and I dont want other people will be injured because of me and because of that I hesitate so I twisted my ankle then lost my balance" he replies sarcastically,

"Okay then I dont have any reason to stay here," she now knows what emotion shell make in front of him,

"Wait!" he stopped Joyce,

"What!" she shouted,

"Why are you shouting? Are you mad? Did you already forgot that you're the cause of this?" He shouted back and point his finger to his shoulder,

"Yes, Im mad! Do you have a problem?" She shouted again,

"Why are you mad?" He shouted to,

"Because I thought that for the first time someone saved me because some people always think that Im very strong so Im trying my best not to give up when Im in trouble Im still fighting even though Im dying because of the pain, despite helping me because Im fighting against boys they are cheering me to fight and I cannot let them down, I know Im careless but Im a girl too I cannot act like a girl because they thought that Im very strong, that's why Im mad, I assumed that you saved me!" She cried but still shouting.

The boy just looked at her,

"Stop crying, as what I know strong people are not crying!" He teased her with worried eyes,

"If you just stopped me for you to tease me, please just let me go already!" She shouted,

"You're responsible for my injury, right?" So dont leave he said like a bossy type,

"You!..." she stopped talking,

*The door opens*

"Im sorry I took so long to come back, is he already awake?" The nurse just enter the clinic and asked,

"Yes nurse he's already awake," she said then wipes her tears,

"Oh, did you cry?" The nurse asked,

"No.." She's about to deny but,

"Yes nurse she cried because she thinks Im dying, she really loves me that much!" The boy just interrupt her,

"Wha—!" She's about to hit him but,

"How sweet!" The nurse said, thats why she doesnt have a choice but to act, she then pat his head, the boy was surprised, and he blushed.

"By the way, this is the medicine and the cream that you need to apply to his shoulder, you need to let him drink the medicine every 4 hours and apply this cream before he sleeps and after he wakes up, dont miss even one because if youll miss even one that will make his injury worst and in that case, he cannot play basketball again," the nurse said to Joyce,

"Okay nurse I will remember all of that, thank you!" Joyce replied,

"Youre welcome, by the way before I forget, he is not allowed to bathe cold water only warm, okay." The nurse said,

"Okay nurse, Thank you again!" She replied,

"Youre welcome again, okay I need to go to the principals office we have a meeting, Ill leave you here for now and if you go home when Im still not here just please lock the clinic, Ill bring the key with me, okay, Ill go now." The nurse said and then quickly leave the clinic.

"Bye-bye!" Joyce said with a fake smile,

"Bye-bye nurse, thank you!" The boy said,

"You! What did you just say a while ago to the nurse!? Are you really teasing me or what!?" Joyce said eagerly,

"Why? I just say that you cried because you love me that much! And yes Im teasing you! Blee!" The boy teased her,

"You! If you're just not injured, I will hit you!" She's really pissed off,

"Haha!" The boy just laughed.

Joyce just sits beside him really annoyed.

*the bell rings*

"I need to attend my class, its already our second class," Joyce said,

"Okay, just inform our teachers that Im injured so that I will be excused," The boy said,

"Oka—, what? Are we in the same class?" Joyce was surprised,

"Yes, you just dont recognize me because you're always alone and you dont care about your classmates and youre just always looking outside the window, sometimes reading a book, and sometimes playing at the basketball court outside alone!" The boy said that made Joyce very surprised because he knows all of that,

"Are you a stalker or what!" Joyce was confused,

"Don't assume youll or else youll cry again, by the way when you hear SERI thats me okay! And my full name is KIAN P. SERI. Now go or else you'll be late" he said,

"O-okay" Joyce reply then run very fast, while shes running beside the football field she hit someone,

"S-sorry!" she said, then pick up her things,

"Its okay!" the boy said then the boy helped her to pick her things,

"T-thank you! I need to go, sorry again," Joyce said and then run again,

"You're welcome!" The boy just whispered,

"Oh, she left her ID!" The boy picked her ID.

*at there classroom*

"Shoo! Thank goodness, I made it on time!" Joyce sighed then sit in her chair beside the window,

"Stand!"  The class monitor said, then they all stand,

"Good morning class!" The teacher said,

"Good morning teacher!" The whole class said,

"Sit down!"  The class monitor said, then they all sit,

"Okay, before anything else I will check the attendance first!" The teacher said,

While the teacher is checking the attendance of the boys Joyce is focusing until,

"SERI?" Joyce startled, she quickly stands and because of that the eyes of the whole class is in her,

"Hmm, miss, he is in the infirmary he got injured this morning!" She speaks very fast because she is not used to doing this,

"Okay, Ill excuse him!" The teacher said, after that all of her classmates are confused,

"Why did she know that? What is her relationship with Kian?" The group of girls in front are whispering, she just sit and look outside the window and just ignore what theyre saying.

Lunch break arrived, she went to the infirmary to check Kian,

"How are you?" Joyce asked,

"Im hungry!" He said like a spoiled brat,

"Oh, that's right! I have here" Joyce said and put out her lunch,

"Hmm, hehe, I forgot to bring my lunch, hehe!" She made excuses for her not to eat with him, shes not used to eat anywhere except at the rooftop.

"Hmm! really so what do you call that one?" Kian saw her lunch box,

"Ahh... to be honest, Im not used to eating in here, Im just eating at the rooftop, I dont want to eat anywhere just to the rooftop!" She said sadly,

"Okay then lets go there and eat!" Kian said then get off the bed,

"Ah-eh!" Joyce has no choice.

They went out from the infirmary, Joyce locked the infirmary, and they dont have any idea that someone saw them and took a picture of them while Kian is wrapping his hand around the Joyces shoulder.

*at the rooftop*

"This is my first time going here at the rooftop!" Kian said,

"Im not surprised anymore because Im always alone here just looking at the sky!" Joyce said while looking at the sky,

"Oh!..." Kian is just looking at her,

"Haha! There's no time for that now, that's depressing!" Joyce said then opens her lunch box,

"Ah! Okay!" Kian replied with worried eyes.

"Feed me!" Kian teased her,

"I know that already no need to tease me!" She said.

She feeds him, but she is not eating,

"Why arent you eating?" Kian asked,

"Im not hungry!" She replied,

"Are you mad?" Kian asked,

"No! Im no.." She suddenly lost her consciousness,

"Hey! Wake up! What happen?" Kian doesn't know what to do, but when he sees that Joyce looks like that she is sleeping he then just get the lunch box from her hand and puts it down, he just let Joyce sleep on his shoulder.

Joyce wakes up,

"Hmm," She stretched her arms,

"You're awake!" Kian said,

"Oh! What are you doing here?" Joyce asked,

"You're really not good at remembering things that just happened correct? Haha," Kian teased her,

"What?" Joyce is confused,

"Haha, you idiot!" Kian just laugh at her,

"Really tell me what are you doing here?" Joyce is really confused,

"We went here because we need to eat but you're not eating only me who is eating, and then you suddenly fell asleep, you idiot!" Kian said,

"I remember already, hehe sorry Im no good at remembering things hehe!" She just laugh with a fake smile on her face,

"Tell what happen to you? Why are you so tired?" Kian asked,

"Nothing, Im just sleepy!" Joyce said,

"O-okay!" Kian said,

"What's with that responsd? Is my answer not enough? Are you expecting something else?" Joyce said,

"Yes, its not enough! Because you look so pale!" Kian is mad,

"Why are you so mad?" Joyce shouted,

"Why are shouting at my face?" Kian shouted,

"Because Im asking you, why are you so mad? You dont have a right to be mad at me!" Joyce shouted again,

"Yes I dont have a right to be mad, Im not mad you know! Im just asking because Im worried!" Kian shouted back,

"Why are you so worried?!" Joyce shouted,

"I dont know!" Kian shouted,

"Okay, I give up! The truth is I didnt sleep last night because of some problem, I cannot sleep because there's a group of guys who are targeting me!" She said while looking at the sky with a smile,

"That's a serious problem why are you still smiling!?" Kian asked with a serious mad face,

"Because I love that, I love when that there are some people thinking of me even though in their mind they will kill me haha!" She said then just laugh,

"You really are an idiot!" Kian said then snap her head,

"It's okay to snap or punch me I cant feel any pain anymore, Im used to it!"  Joyce said,

"After the class, you need to bring me to my house!" Kian said,

"What are you saying? I wont I have a plan!" Joyce refuse,

"Do your thing after you bring me to my house!" Kian said,

"Okay!" Joyce said with an annoyed face.

"Oh! By the way, we dont have a class this afternoon we just have a meeting!" Joyce said,

"Okay so we need to go there since its a meeting!" Kian said,

"That's right!" Joyce said,

"Oh its already 12:50, we need to go to the room before 1 o'clock!" Joyce said then stand,

"Okay, help me to stand!" Kian asked.

As they walk together some girls are whispering, he covers her ears just for her not to hear all the words theyre saying, on the time they arrived at classroom same thing is happening, whispering about them is everywhere,

"Im sitting beside you!" Kian said,

"Really? You're the person here besides me?" Joyce said,

"Yes, if you remember what I told you before, I know the things you're doing right?" Kian said then smile,

"O-okay!" Joyce reply while blushing,

"Stand!" Class monitor ordered,

"Good afternoon class!" Teacher's greeting,

"Good afternoon teacher!" The whole class greetings,

"Sit!" The class monitors order,

"Okay, class I apologize to inform you very late because the principal asked me to buy something for the prizes for this contest. The school principal decided to hold this contest first week of next month, not only the contest will be happening but there is also a lot of activities so you need to be ready, the activities will be given on the day of the activity also so you really need to prepare yourself, and for the main contest that would be a contest for two, one girl and one boy, I just need a girl because it is already given that Kian will take over the position for the boy, and for the girl, I need one who knows how to play basketball! Anyone here?" The teacher announced,

"I dont know how to play, I want to be paired to Kian!"

"I also want, but dont know how to play also!"

Some girls in front who has a crush on Kian is whispering,

"Miss I know someone who knows how to play basketball!" Kian stand and tell the teacher,

"That's good! Who is that person?" The teacher asked,

"Its her!" Kian pointed his finger to Joyce,

"Oh! Thats great, youll make a good duo because you already know each other, okay so Kian and miss?" The teacher looked at me and asked my name,

"Joyce!" she replied,

"Okay, so Kian and Joyce will represent our section for the 2 on 2 basketball!" The teacher said,

"By the way you need to accompany me to my house!" Kian said,

"What? I wont!" Joyce refused,

"Why? You need to apply to ointment to my shoulder and you need to wake me up to drink the medicine!" Kian said,

"Let your mom apply it for you!" Joyce said,

"Mom? I have no one in my house, haha!" Kian said and faked his laugh,

She just looked at him,

"Okay-okay, but after class, I will go to my place first to get some clothes!" She said

"Okay, Ill go with you there!" Kian said,

"No need I can go there alone!" She said,

$No I'll go with you!" He insisted

"Okay fine, I dont like arguing with you!" She said,

"Haha!" Kian laughed,

The truth is he really wants to protect Joyce from those guys who are looking for her,

The bell rung.

"Hey! Wake up, you spend all your time sleeping in our vacant class! Wake up already!" She tried so hard to wake him,

He then wakes up,

"Im sorry, Im just really tired, haha!" He said then scratch his head,

"Lets go!" She said,

"Okay-okay, dont drag me like that!" He is pissed,

Joyce just looks at him then quickly turns herself towards the door with her shocked and scared eyes.

Kian was shocked also that he acted that way towards her, they dont know why they feel pain in their hearts, because of that pain they want to cry, they dont know why.

While they are walking to the school gate, Kian is just walking behind Joyce and he's just looking at her, he is confused,

"Captain!" A boy shouted,

"Oh-oh, Rin!" Kian hesitated to reply,

"Why do you look so shocked and worried?" Rin asked,

"Ah, its nothing!" Kian said with a fake smile,

"Okay, so we will going plays against each other on the 2 on 2 basketball game, right?" Rin said,

"Yes, exactly, are you ready to lose?" Kian teased him,

"Of course not, by the way, what happened to your arms?" Rin asked,

"I just bumped in the corner at court this morning!" Kian said,

"Why are you so reckless?" Rin said,

"Im sorry babe, I will be careful next time, haha!" Kian said,

"Okay, babe promise me haha! Oh did I miss something, this girl is your?" Rin said while smiling like a demon,

"Don't look at me like that, you jerk!" Kian said,

"She will going to be my partner on the 2 on 2 basketball game, she is Joyce" He introduces Joyce,

"Oh, interesting, nice to meet you, Im Rin, Kian's teammate Rin introduces himself!" Then straighten his hand asking for shake hands with Joyce,

"Nice to meet you too!" Joyce replied shes about to reach Rin's hand but,

"That's enough we need to go now!" Kian took Joyce hand, with a fake smile,

"Okay-okay see you, tomorrow captain, get well soon!" Rin said with a suspicious expression on his face,

"Alright see yah!" Kian replied then pulled, Joyce,

"Why are you dragging me?" She is confused,

"Because I dont l... ah never mind!" Kian said then let go of the hand of Joyce, then walk in rush,

"Tsk! I dont get this guy!" Joyce sounded pissed.

They just walk to reach Joyce's house,

"Hey, where are you going?" My house is here Joyce called Kian,

"Why didn't you stop me earlier!?" He replied,

"Because I dont know how to talk to you with that mood of yours!" She said,

"What?!" Kian is confused,

"Cause you've been so quiet when were walking so Im afraid that you'll shout at me again!" she said the opens the door,

"Oww!" Kian said then walk inside,

"Want some water or coffee?" She asked,

"Water will do, thank you!" He said,

"Okay, make yourself at home!" She said then quickly went to the kitchen,

"Okay!" He said,

'Joyce, is this your jersey?" He shouted,

"Which one?" Joyce peeked then asked,

"The color red jersey!" He shouted,

'No that's not mine!" she replied with a sad tone,

"Ow!" kay he is confused,

"Heres your water, just wait here I'll just pick some clothes!" She said,

"Okay!" He replies,

*Phone rings*

"Joyce your phone is ringing!" He shouted,

"Wait dont answer!" She was surprised,

"Hello!" He answered the phone call,

"Hello! Who am I talking with? Where is Joyce?" The person who called said,

"This is her boyfriend and you?" Kian lied,

"Ow, sorry I didnt know she has a boyfriend, but can you please lend the phone to her, I have something to discuss with her!" The person that is calling sounded mad,

"Ow!" He was surprised that Joyce grabbed the phone immediately,

"Dad, Im sorry let me explain!" She said while blushing at the same time afraid,

"No need to explain bring him here this Saturday!" his dad said then hangs up,

Joyce is now frozen, she is mad and afraid at the same time her heart is acting weird since she heard what Kian said earlier, then quickly face Kian,

"What have you done? You lied to my father! Now he wants to meet you this Saturday, I dont know what to do!" She said looking depressed,

"Whaaaaaaaat! Thats your father? I thought that person is one of the guys who is targeting you! Im really sorry, just why did you set the name as BOSS?" He slapped his forehead,

"I put BOSS as his nickname its because I've been in his hands since I was a child, he is also my coach, and the most important person to me!" She is crying while remembering and missing her father,

"Im sorry, Im really sorry!" He kneeled down and bow his head in front of Joyce,

"No, no, its okay, just help me to explain to my father this Saturday, we need to plan this because my father will not be going to believe in us easily!" She said,

"Okay, okay!" He said then sit back,

"Okay ill finish packing my clothes, wait a sec!" she said,

"Okay!" He replied,

Kian turned the TV on, while he is watching TV he heard a weird noise outside, its like there is some group of people chatting so loud, he then peeks at the window, a group of boys caught by his eyes he quickly closes the curtain, turned the TV off, locked the door, and turned the light off.

"Why!" Joyce about to speak loud but he runs into her then covers her mouth,

"Don't make any noise, there's a group of boys outside!" He whispered to her ears,

Joyce take his hand off of her mouth,

"Why are you so afraid?" She asked,

"You're the one who caused this, you did tell me your story at the school, right? So I cannot help myself not to get worried!" He said,

His words made Joyce speechless. They then just went inside here room then turned off the light,

"Let's stay here inside until they're gone!" He said while hugging Joyce with only one hand,

"Uh! okay!" Joyce replied while holding to his hand,

"Why are you so!" he stopped speaking because he saw that his hugging Joyce

"Oww! Im sorry!" He said then quickly get his hand off to Joyce,

"Its okay!" Joyce said softly.

They just stay inside her room,

"Just sit here I will just check if they're still outside!" Joyce said,

"No! Stay here, Ill go and check!" he said,

"Okay!" Joyce doesn't have a choice because Kian looks mad, Kian went outside her room, then peeked at the window, then go back to Joyces room,

"It looks like they already left, we need to go now!" He said immediately,

"Uh okay!" Joyce replied with a low voice,

"I will just going to contact my driver, wait for a sec," he said then picked his phone to make a call,

*the number you have dialed is now unattended, please try your call later*

"Shit! Why!" He said then dial again,

*tutttttttttttttttttttttttttt*

"He's not answering his phone!" He is pissed,

"Calm down, Its okay! We can just walk, the bus station is not that far from here!" She said, trying to calm Kian,

"Tsk!" His reaction,

"Let's go already, lets not wait for them to go back, we need to go now!"  she said then picked up her things,

"Hay, okay!" He sighed then hold her hands to lead the way,

"Hey, dont rush my feet is not in a good condition, Im tired already!" She said then stopped walking,

"I will try to contact my driver again, lets sit here for a while!" He said then he picked his phone out of his pocket,

*dialing*

"Hello, Roberto is here, boss where are you? Its already 7 pm youre still not here, I already went to your school but the guard says theres no student left at the school, and I also went to your friends house, but I still haven't had a piece of information about where you've been!" Roberto, answered the phone call, he sounded worried,

"Hi Roberto, were here at the convenience store beside the school, please hurry and pick us here!" He ordered,

"Okay sir, Ill be going now!" Roberto said.

Kian sat beside her after the phone call,

"How's your feet?" He asked,

"Much better!" She replied,

"By the way, now that were here I will buy something first, just wait for me here!" He said then went inside the convenience store.

Kian doesn't have any idea what Joyce is thinking, she just acted that her feet are not feeling good because she knows that some guys are following them, while Kian is inside the convenience store she took the time to face those guys, she went to a narrow dark corner beside the store

"What do you want now!" She said fearlessly,

"Now! Now! Wheres your boyfriend? Is he afraid to face us?" The leader of the gang said,

"Ha? Whose boyfriend he is! He is not related with me so dont ever touch him!" She said,

"Why? And we also dont have any intentions to touch him because we are only interested in you!" He said while pressing Joyce's cheeks,

"Dont touch me you jerk!" She said then snap his hand off of her cheeks,

"You.!" the leader of the gang intended to punch her,

"Dare to punch her! Ill punch you to death!" Kian shouted,

"Why.!?" Joyce tried to ask him but,

"Dont speak, well talk about it later!" He said with a fierce expression on his face,

"You dared to touch my girl! You dont have a right to touch her, what do you want from her?" He heads up to the leader,

"Oh! Interesting, you have the guts to talk to me like that too, they're both the same!" The leader speak back,

"So lets settle this!" He said,

"Hold this first and dont ever join!" He put out the sling in his arms then give it to Joyce,

"Are you an idiot? Whatre you doing you cannot fight with this condition! Please dont!" She said with a worried expression,

"No! I will be okay! Dont worry!" Kian said

"Please dont!" She said,

But Kian didnt listen he stretched his arms then one guy punch him but the punch didnt reach him, he punches back the guy, then other guys also join, its a 1 over 10 guys battle, Kian punch and kicked them, but the leader finds a chance to hit him with a big wooden bar,

"Kiaaaaaaaan!" Joyce shield her body to protect Kian,

*cough*

"Joyce are you okay!?" Kian said with a worried tone,

"Yes! Im alright!" *cough* she said then covers her mouth with a hand then cough,

"She punches the leader, then kicked his head!" Kian is so shocked to see how Joyce fight with a guy,

The leader cannot find an opening to hit Joyce, she is so skilled,

"Lets retreat!" He leader shouted,

"Were not done yet!" He shouted to Joyce, then they retreated,

"Hoo! It makes me sweat a lot haha!" Kian said then laugh,

"Why are you laughing? Arent you thinking about what will happen to you! They are dangerous people!" Joyce got mad at him,

*kringggggg*

"Oh, Ill answer this first. Hello?" He said then turned around to answer the call,

"Boss, where are you, Im already here at the convenience store!" Roberto said,

"Okay Roberto we will go back there now!" Kian said, then pick the sling from the ground, then put it back to his arm,

"Lets go!" He said without looking to Joyce,

"Ow, okay!" Joyce felt pain in her chest,

They went back to the convenience store,

"Boss! What happened? Why are you sweating a lot?" Roberto looked worried while wiping his sweat,

"Im okay, I just settled something over there!" He said,

"Oh! She the girl you mentioned to me this morning!" Roberto looked at Joyce,

"Hi, Im Joyce, the cause of this!" she greeted Roberto then pointed Kian's arm,

"I promise!" he said then do the pinky swear with Joyce.

Because of that promise Kian made sure to hold himself because he's already starting to fall in love with Joyce.

"Why am I feeling this?" he thought, then he just sleep.
