Terrance
It was a sunny day on February. Me and my friend, Enne, were playing catch the ball together outside infront of a neighbor's home.
"Pass it to me! What's taking you so long?"
I called out to Enne. He passed the ball to me after a few seconds. He threw the ball hard enough for me to fall down. I didn't catch it, but what I heard next gave me a panic.
* Crack! *
"..Huh...?"
"Oh no..."
Enne said as he walked up to me, he helped me up as I scratch the back of my head. I looked at the direction the noise came from.
( a broken window... )
"Oh man...Enne we broke the window.."
"I'm not blind man! I can see it clearly!"
"How're we gonna get it back..?"
"We're gonna go in, duh."
"Wha- Are you crazy!? We can't just enter a house like that, idiot!"
"Don't worry, besides, no one lived in here for years. I bet no one is even in here by now."
Enne told me as he walked up to the house's door. I followed.
"I'm opening the door, It's just on the second floor, everything'll be alright. Trust me, Terrance."
Enne entered the home carefree. I followed him to the inside. The first two steps I experienced in the home, it gave me anxiety.
I looked around and it was all dusty and dirty, cobwebs, everywhere. I could see many rats and insects running around. I feel disgusted.
I looked back at Enne, we were close to the stairs.
"I have a bad feeling about this, Enne."
"Hm? Don't worry, no one lives here."
Enne said as we climb the stairs. And as I tried to say something, we saw an old man holding our ball in his hand.
"Oh man! I didn't know someone was home!"
"Ah- We're sorry sir! Really sorry!"
"Oh no, it's alright, young boys."
The old man sat on the sofa. He offered us a seat. Me and Enne sat next to each other, anxiously.
"Were you two the ones who threw this ball?"
"It was an accid-"
"It was my fault, I threw the ball too hard, I'm sorry."
Enne spoke over me.
"...I didn't catch the ball, if I was able to catch it, then your window wouldn't be broken by now..."
The old man showed us a faint smile.
"It's alright boys. It was just an accident, I don't have any hard feelings towards you two. Just be careful next time you play."
"Yes sir...We're sorry!"
"Oh, there is no need to apologize, young man. Just go back to playing your game outside."
Me and Enne nodded at the old man. We went down the stairs and exited the home.
I look back at the house as me and Enne walk towards our spot. It makes me anxious, I feel like there's something out of place.
