“Come and catch me!” yells Pearla. I try to run but get tired quickly, “Hey no fair, I can't catch you. This thiccness does not help.” she laughs and sticks out her tongue. “Avia, I’ll buy you cheddar cheese if you catch me.” I laughed“Watch where you are going, Pearl!” she nodded and stopped at a stop sign. She looked both ways, and went even the sign said stop. I almost reach her until I see a car coming in high speed, the driver must have been drunk. “PEARLA!! CORRE!!” Pearla turned around and froze when she saw the car. I couldn’t do anything. I froze too. I tried to close my eyes, but they stayed open.

“IT'S ALL MY FAULT!”

“No it’s not.”

“Please stop trying to make me feel better. It’s not working.”

“Ok, sorry.”

“I’m sorry, i’m just really stressed right now. “

“I know.”

“She’s your sister, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry Gabi.”

“Please stop calling me ‘Gabi’, my name is Gabriel.”

“OMG, dear sister. Are you okay!?!”

I groan, Mackenzie is here. Gabi rolls his eyes. I nod. I really don’t think she is taking no for an answer because she asks, “Are you sure? Are you hurt?” I nod. And i also have a secret weapon, she likes Gabi so i may have or may not have used him a few times. That’s the only reason she is being nice to me. I take Gabriels hand, “C’mon, your sister is waiting.” he nods.

“Let me drive you home.” Gabi asks, I shook my head. He nodded, I shook my head. “Fine.” As he was driving he asked “When Pearla gets out of the hospital, what are we going to get her?” he asks. I laugh “Isn’t it obvious, BTS tickets. They came out with a new album. Persona.” he laughs, “How did i not think of that. Okay we are here. Bye Avia.” I nodded, taking off my seatbelt. “I’ll check to see if they have more tickets.” Awkward silence “And you will buy them.” I ran and went inside my house. He honked the car horn.

I sat on my bed. I cried. I know Gabriel was trying to make me feel better but, the whole accident. I should stop hiding everything, they should know I am upset. Right? I did learn how to hide my feelings, I guess those 3 years of practice paid off. I’m not even loved by my dad anymore. In his eyes I just spend a lot of money and cause a lot of trouble. I have to deal with so much. I need a break. Why does everyone take my step mom and Mackenzie so seriously, yet they treat me as a child.

I fell asleep crying, and woke up to my alarm. It’s 6:00 am, time to get ready. I made breakfast and called Gabe. “Gabriel, me puedes recoger de mi casa? Quiero ir con mi ma.” I start to cry, I don’t know where the tears came from. “Yeah, okay. I’ll be there in 10.”

Right before school, we are in front of my beautiful mom. “She died way too early. She left me alone.” Gabi stroked my hair. “You're not alone. You have my ma y pa, my sister and me.” I shook my head. “But i don’t have my dad.” we go back to the car but I feel better. I’m pretty sure it's what Gabi said. But his words never made me feel so good. Do I like him? No, I can’t. Or do I? I don’t know.
