Chapter 4: To pursue what you Love

“Ehhh? You got a crush on Megumi chan? You

mean Megumi Tanaka san, right?”, exclaimed a classmate of Shimura.

“Can you just stop yelling this, Asahi?”,

said Shimura.

“Hmm, but as much as I know, she probably

has a boyfriend already, or at least a huge crush on a senpai.”

“Oh, I see”

“But don’t be disheartened, Shimura, I

would do almost anything I can to hook you two up.”

“And ‘do anything I can’ he did, didn’t

he?”, Hiruko asked me as we were watching this conversation.

“Hmmm, well he did quite a bit, you see.”,

I replied.

“Like?”

“Asahi Nakamura, our class playboy, well

it's probably wrong to say ‘class’, he was popular throughout the school. If

there exist a girl, chances were Asahi already knew her.”

“And so, you asked him for help?”

“No, it was actually Hiroto’s idea, he too

had a crush on someone and Asahi was helping him, so he suggested the entire

thing”

“Hmm, so he introduced you to her?”

“Yes, to Megumi Tanaka, a girl with whom I

hopelessly fell in love for.”

“How did it go?”

“Well, Asahi arranged in such a way that we

could meet without revealing the fact that I liked her. We did meet Megumi was

with her best friend, we talked and that was it.”

“And?”

“And I failed to make any impression, well

not to mention I was not impressive in any way, at least not during that time”

“What do you mean?”

enough.”

cannot flirt with him anymore now that he has a crush?”, asked Akira.

“Not that, but he is actually one of the

class topper, so it would be bad if his studies got affected.”, replied Misaki.

“Enough you two, I am studying fine

enough, and she is just a crush, it will go away.”

“Well, you got it easy, you will score

high even if you don’t study much”, said Yamato.

“Nope, it’s not like that”

“Whatever, remember to help us during the

exam”, said Hiroto.

“You were good at your studies, right?”,

Hiruko asked me.

“Not that I liked to study, but I did well

enough to be in the top 3, that was one thing I had going for me.”

“I see”

We continued to watch as time flew past

for Shimura, he went on to give his exams and got promoted to next grade.

“Well, it’s a new grade friends, this year

would be so much more fun”, said Hiroto.

“Well, aren’t you optimistic”, said

Shimura

“Of course, I am, after all, it’s a new

year”

“Well, I still don’t think you can ask

Hina san out, in this new year”, Shimura said and all of them laughed.

“Shut up, don’t make fun of me, so what I

can’t ask her out now, one day I can, and I will”, replied Hiroto.

“So, you do accept you can’t ask her out,

lol”, and they laughed again.

“Shut up, what about you, will you ask

Tanaka san out this year? Do you have the courage?”

“Well, she got a boyfriend, I can’t do

anything, and she doesn’t even notice me so….”

“SO, YOU WILL STOP TRYING?”

“I guess.”

“Come on Shimura”

“What?”

“Well, it’s enough, leave that now”,

intervened Yamato “Say Shimura, will you join any club this year?”

“Club?”

“Yes club, you didn’t join any club for a

year after you left your last club, the knowledge club.”

“Well, I left for the President, but I

guess I will be returning, now that she left the club.”

“What happened between you two?”

“Well, I rather not remember that.”

“Whatever you say.”

“What happened between you two?”, Hiruko

asked me the same thing.

“You need not know”, I replied.

“Ehhh, and here I thought, at least, I

would get to listen.”

“You heard him; I would rather not remind

myself about that”

“Too bad, anyway, let’s continue.”

“Right.”

“So, you joined the club again?”

“Yes, I did.”

“And?”

“We are going to watch anyway, aren’t

we?”

“Oh, getting adapted to the drill, aren’t

you? Well, good for you.”

I did join the club back, now that I do

think about it, it was a very significant part of my school life. A lot

happened in the one year I rejoined the club, most of what was really

unexpected. The biggest reason for that was another new member who joined the

club.

“Ehhh Shimura senpai, you are back !!”,

said a girl

“Yes, I am, how are you, Ichika?”, asked

Shimura.

“Just fine, anyway it's so good to have

you back, now that so many of the seniors gone, you coming back will bring the

club back on track senpai. Anyway, we got quite a few new members after you

left.”

“Hm?? Is that so? Well, the more, the

merrier.”

“Right, oh talk of the devil, here is one

of them.”

I didn’t expect to see that person at all,

not that I minded, but somewhere deep within I felt that lots of stuff are

going to change for that one singular event. The new member of the club was….

“Senpai, let me introduce Aoi Takahashi

senpai to you, our new member.”

The new member was the best friend of

Megumi, the one I met that day.

“It's you? Nice to meet you Shimura Abe

senpai.”, said Aoi.

“Eh? You two already knew each other?”

“Just the names.”, I replied.

“Right, just the names”, Aoi confirmed.

Shimura remembered the day; he met the two

of them along with Asahi. ‘What an interesting turn of events’, Shimura thought

to himself.

“So, things were interesting for you?”,

Hiruko asked me.

“Well, what happened next was nothing

short of interesting, as after I rejoined the club, I did meet with two

wonderful individuals”

“Two?”

“One is Aoi”

“And other?”

“We will see, right?”

“Yeah, we will.”
