Third Kingdom War
"So we fought this long for nothing?" Gen said "It's all over". Other remaining comrades had a look of despair and timidity in their eyes. Every soldier fought brave in the war. There were bodies all over the battlefield. Soldier's blood were scattered everywhere in the warzone . It has been twenty years and yet the screaming of those soldiers still haunts me at night.
"The battlefield is cruel. It's merciless. It has only one principle; kill or be killed. It doesn't matter who you are when you are in the battlefield. You should always prepare to die before heading to the battlefield." That's what my commander used to say. He was my idol. His name was Trenk Fedrick. He was strict. He is no more today but his lessons made me a man. He fought till his last breath and died in the third kingdom war battlefield. He used to be the best soldier we've ever had. He gave us hope. He motivated us to fight harder and harder. Despite of being strict, he always cared about his comrades before himself. He was a true hero.
It has passed 20 long years after the third kingdom war ended. The conflict between Tropek Kingdom and the Druket Kingdom led us to the three year long third kingdom war. The two of the most powerful kingdom declared the war with each other. Those were the most frightening days of the human mankind. The days seemed to get longer with fears. The innocent citizens were compelled to work for the military purpose. They didn't even leave children for this. After the declaration of the war, the two kingdom began to prepare themselves for the war. They began to invest their every money for the equipments needed for soldiers and other military weapons. The Druket Kingdom was my home. A hound of soldiers were given order to bring whoever they see of age sixteen or older except female because they thought that females wouldn't be useful. On that day, I was with my family ; My father, my mother and my little sister. We were hiding at the basement of our house. We could hear the cryings of the people while their their child, husband, brother were taken away. I was terrified. My hands were shaking. I felt powerless. I held my father hand tight. With every second passing , My fear got intensified. I wasn't to make any sound. I could hear the footsteps of those soldiers passing by. My little sister was only eleven years old. At that time, I could see she was bearly holding on to her crying. I can't imagine what she went through back then. She was shivering like the cold of december. Her eyes were full of tears with hands sealing her mouth bearly holding her sound.
The day ended then night fell. It got cold. We were sitting on the ground. It was complete silence at midnight. We were hungry and stiffed. We had eaten nothing but water since that morning. My father and I decided to go out and bring some food from the kitchen. It was complete silence so we thought it was safe to go. Our basement door was horizontally set on the ground level. My father slowly opened the door. It was full moon night. The light struck my eyes. It was bright. I could not look straight outside. Maybe I had stayed in the dark for a long time. My father and I headed out. "oh god! "said my father. When I looked on the street there were bodies of the women all over. We figured they were killed because they couldn't let go of their family members. The cryings we heard before were actually the screamings of the death. My heart beat rose up and my fear got best of me. That was the first time I have ever seen a person body drenched totally in the blood. I puked. My father was a tough man. He insisted me to stay in the basement while he headed out for foods. I went back in the basement with total look of fear in my eyes. Father came back after a few minutes. He brought a couple of bread and 4 red apples. We somehow passed the night with those foods.
