The Decision

"And what makes you think that I will agree to that?"I asked calmly but deep down anger was filled in me and I wanted to explode it to my dad but not in front of this guy.

"how much do you owe him?" I continued

"Maureen dear I'm sorry to tell you this but believe me this time I was fooled by Derick. We had planned to setup a business together and we needed the funds. We came here to Mr.Smith because Derick said it would be quicker then going to a bank or elsewhere. Then we made an agreement with him. I thought this time I will solve everyone's problem by starting to work but..." he stopped talking

"And where is uncle Derick?" I asked

"He f..fled away with all the money" dad said with his eyes looking on the ground.

"how much?" I asked

"one..one hundred thousand dollars"

"I felt like my ears could burst hearing that figure, my legs literally froze with my eyes wide open."

After a minute or two I spoke breaking the silence, "dad go home I will sort it out." as he stood up to take his leave I continued," and don't inform mom, tell her all is ok."

After he left I calmly settled myself there were alot of questions which were rolling in my little brain.

"Mr Smith, what did my father keep as a guarantee?" "I'm well aware you would not just give such a big amount with no guarantee." I said but fearing how is he going to response.

He had a smirk, "I thought you will never ask" he said while handing over a file.

As I was reading through the agreement , I was surprised I couldn't believe it. The worst was when I read what dad kept on stake. I was boiling in anger which my red cheeks could tell.

"He kept mom's property papers at stake!" I couldn't believe this...it was the only thing my grandad left for mom and how did mom agree to it. The original property documents were in the file as well.

"well Mr Smith according to the agreement, if the money is not refunded with it's interest you will seize the property, isn't it? So what is the issue over here, aren't we done? you have the property in exchange for the money." I said this while trembling from within my heart. I felt a very bitter pain when I said this. My inner self was crying but it's all over. Nothing can be done. According to the agreement everything was legal and nothing out of the ordinary.

"Yes you are right, in a matter of fact all this that is happening shouldn't even happen. I am not a person who gives chances to people but with you Miss Miller I would like to make a deal with you in exchange for the property." he said that while his red eyes staring at me.

"And what makes you think I will agree" I said with pride but hoping for a ray of light.

He had a smirk on his face and that's when my phone was ringing with the caller ID reading 'Katie'
