Chapter two

Y/N POV

"So as I was saying, your first day will be officially starting tomorrow. Do not be late." The supervisor resumed, eyeing you for a moment before looking at the other students.

You gulp loudly.

Ofcourse, he would be eyeing me. I was late, but why do I feel nervous at the moment? Is it because of the way he looked at me? Or am I just overthinking it?

"I would like to add that you'll be split into little groups of three people as well. The supervisor that will be guiding you will be notified this afternoon." He stated as he grabbed a marker before taking off the cap

"So make sure you do not miss any announcements you receive in the app. We will not and have not the time to explain what we'll be doing. Your responsibility. Yes?" The woman spoke as she looked at a student who had her hand raised.

The girl had long black hair, put up into a pony-tail. Dark brown eyes with long eyelashes. Why does she look so familiar?

"Can we choose the groups?" She asked before putting down her hand again.

"No, Mr. Axel will be assigning groups." The woman answered. When she moved away from the board, towards the student, you could finally see what her name was. Francesca Bolteaux. That explained the thick accent.

But why was his name not written on the board? Whatever, I might hear it later. I'm too awkward to ask for his name.

"Did that answer your question Rayna? Or do you have other questions?" Francesca asked her, this time crossing her arms defensively. Why did the tone of her voice sounded like she was offended? She didn't say anything wrong, or I could be wrong.

"Yes Ms. Bolteaux." She answered, not breaking any eye-contact. The way she kept looking into the eyes of the woman, showing no fear was a skill you definitely need to possess throughout this year.

"Good. Mr. Axel, you may continue." She said while walking back to where she first stood, next to Mr. Axel.

"Thank you, Mrs. Francesca. As I was saying, you'll be split into little groups of three people as well. The supervisor that will be guiding you will be notified this afternoon. Understood?" Mr. Axel asked, looking at everyone if every student understood.

Everyone nodded.

"Alright. I hope you all really understood what I just said. Misbehave? I'll be sending you off permanently with no chance of getting back. When I do, I do not want to see you here again. Do I catch you here? You'll be facing consequences. As simple as that." Mr. Axel stated, before moving his marker to the whiteboard.

"For the ones who got in here late, my name is José. José Axel. I'm twenty-five and I've been a supervisor at this hospital since I was twenty-one." He wrote down on the whiteboard. You didn't know why, but you were glad you weren't the only one that was late, but who?

Oh It doesn't matter anymore. Why do I care?

"Tomorrow, be here at ten o'clock. But first, Y/n. I wanna talk to you privately. Same for Rayna as well. Have a nice day." He spoke as he put down the marker on his desk.

As everyone started walking out of the classroom, only me and Rayna were staying put. José was cleaning the whiteboard as Mrs. Francesca was picking up some paperwork that was on the desk.

"Mr. Axel? Do you need me to assist—"

"You can go resume your work. Thank you for being here. I'll pick it up from here." José cut her off, grabbing another tissue out of his pocket before cleaning the whiteboard again. How many times is he still going to clean the whiteboard?

She opened her mouth as if she was about to argue but closed it anyway before walking out of the room.

"Alright, I'd first like to talk with Y/n, then you Rayna. You can wait outside the room. When I'm done, I'll call you in." He stated while throwing the tissue into the bin next to the board.

"Okay Mr. Axel." She replied, standing up from her chair before walking off, closing the door behind her.

After she closed the door, you slowly felt your heart beat faster each second that passed by. Since it was now only you and Mr. Axel. It was dead silent.

You could now feel your thrashing heartbeat move into the pit of your stomach, thumping like crazy as you watched him walking over to you while grabbing a chair along the way.

Shoving his chair in front of your table, he took a seat. You watched him take out a notebook from the pocket of his white long coat. Along with a pen.

Oh god, not the write-stuff-down conversation. Conversations like these always gave me anxiety since you knew they would talk about the conversation you had, with third-party.

Most of the time, these conversations always end up with your parents being informed. I hate when that happens.

"So, Y/n. Care to tell me why you were late?" He asked me, finally looking up.

You sigh and think back to what happened. As soon as you did so, you felt your eyes getting watery.

Your heartbeat was slowed down, but not in a comforting way, this time it was hurting. You started to feel like a huge amount of tears were building up, ready for you to explode into tears.

"Are you okay Y/n?" He asked you. That was it. Those four words were enough for you to let it all out. You knew you shouldn't have been thinking back to what happened and yet you still did.

José stayed quiet as he did not make a single comment, which made things even more awkward, hearing yourself sniffle and sob like a baby.

"I just had a rough start of the day." You managed to say in between the inhumane sobs escaping your lungs. This is so awkward, I'm hiccuping. I cannot form a sentence when I hiccup. I need to get out of here.

Your phone started ringing again. It was your dad for how many times now? Hundredth time?

You let it ring since your father was the last person was that you wanted to talk to. After a while, he stopped calling before seeing on your phone ninty-eight missed calls from dad.

"I can help y—"

"I need to get out. I'm sorry. I'll see you tomorrow Mr. José." You spoke, cutting his sentence off before he could finish what he wanted to say.

You stood up and grabbed your phone. Before you could leave, he grabbed your wrist.

You paused at the contact and looked back at him. Not even caring anymore how you looked. He looked at you for a moment but after that, he slowly let go and turned away from you.

"See you later." He said.

You left the room and went straight to the bathroom. As you got in, you looked at yourself into the mirror while putting your phone next to the sink.

Later? What did he mean with later? Maybe he just meant tomorrow but said later. Ugh what is my life?

After a while, you saw on your phone that your dad was calling you again while spamming you with messages. You turned off your phone before washing your face.

"Do you need water?"
