I'm Not The Good Guy Anymore
Red, a 22 year old commoner in his world, walked to his hometown's guild with a definite purpose. "Kid, weak people should stay away from the guild" warned a knight. Red replied, "I'm not here to apply for fighting anymore; I'm instead going to apply as the guild janitor." The knight looked at him with disdain, and said, "Well, that's probably the only way for a runt like you to survive." Red walked away with a newfound determination to prove the knight wrong. He was going to make a success of himself, no matter what it took.
Red rudely marched into the guild, fuming with anger at the knight’s disrespect. “Damn knight,” he muttered under his breath, “if I could, I could punch the heck out of you!”
Making his way to the reception, Red confidently declared, “I’m here to apply for the janitor job.” Instantly, a chorus of mocking laughter filled the hall. One man even sneered, “You’re so emaciated that even girls couldn’t do janitor work - you’d die trying!”
Red's temper finally boiled over, and he screamed back at the man in outrage. “I’ll kill you!” But his words were drowned out by yet another wave of laughter. Just then, the guild knight entered and proceeded to drag him out. “Wait, I haven’t applied yet!” Red protested, to no avail. “Not my problem - go back to the slums or something,” replied the knight, before pushing Red out of the building.
Defeated, Red trudged away sorrowfully, muttering under his breath, “Another day, another failure in finding a job… Is there anything I can do?”
Red then watches as warriors ride through his village on their horses, his heart quickens as he contemplates the possibilities of joining the warriors himself. Despite the fear of rejections due to his body, he decides to take a risk and do something outrageous. With a shout of determination, Red steps out into the middle of the procession and cries out, "Please, let me join the warriors!" He stands with bravery, hoping that this bold maneuver will be enough to secure his place in their ranks.
The warriors' faces all hardened as the captain said, "No, weaklings should stay where they belong." Red's fists clenched as he felt the insult of being deemed a weakling. He glared at the warrior and angrily stated, "You haven't seen me do anything yet and you consider me weak, is that really the way of a warrior or are you just scum?"
The warrior's face didn't change, but he knew his words had made an impact. He replied, "I didn't come here to chat with you I'm here to warn the village of the Demon Lord's catastrophe that's going to be approaching."
Red crossed his arms and snapped back, "That's no reason to ignore me."
In an instant, a sword was pointed at Red's eye, its speed so quick he barely saw it until it stopped. The warrior raised an eyebrow, being surprised Red didn't flinch. Red gritted his teeth and said, "Do you even know how many times people pointed a sword at me?"
