Billionaire Childhood Bestfriend

Billionaire Childhood Bestfriend

Episode 1

Sophie POV

I stepped out of the taxi that pulled up at the entrance of Huang Group. Securing my purse on my shoulder, I walked past the revolving doors, ignoring all eyes that looked in my direction and towards the front desk. Removing my aviator shades, I asked. "Is Harvey in his office?"

The brown-haired receptionist looked up at me and faked smiled as if I wouldn't notice. "Do you have an appointment, Miss?" she asked.

"No," I replied with a blank expression. This woman needs an attitude adjustment, is she always this rude to everyone that walked in. "Which way to Harvey’s office?"

"Sorry, but you can't see the boss without an appointment," she replied, crossing her arms. She narrowed her eyes at me. "Please leave or I will have security to-"

"Miss. Huo, when did you get back!?"

The brunette and I looked to the left simultaneously and spotted Miss. Amy Yang, Harley's personal assistant. Still beautiful as ever. I walked over and greeted her with a hug. "Today actually, I-"

Amy nudged my side after I released her and snickered. "Couldn't wait to see your darling, Harley, huh. Are you finally going to give him a chance?"

I blushed profusely. That jerk couldn't keep his big mouth shut. How many people did he tell? I faked coughed and said. "How much do you know?"

"Every. Single. Thing." She replied with a mischievous smile.

"Miss. Yang," the brunette receptionist said interrupting our conversation, getting both of our attention. Knowing her exact intention, I crossed my arms and smirked at her. She shot me a dirty glare before turning her full attention to Amy. "This rude lady wants to see the boss without an appointment and wouldn't leave. I am about to call security."

"Imbecile!" Amy yelled, causing the brunette to flinch in shock. She pointed to me and stated. "Never, ever disrespect Miss Sophie Huo again. She's your boss most important person if he gets wind of what happened today. You know what will happen, right."

I smiled triumphantly as her face turned pale. Placing my right hand on Amy's shoulder, I said. "It's okay she didn't know. Plus, I am not his most important person. I am just his childhood best friend." Turning my full attention to the brunette, I added in a polite tone. "From now on, I hope you will treat every guest with the respect they deserve."

She bowed and replied nervously. "Y-yes Miss. Huo!"

"I am on my way to see Harvey," Amy said. She latched onto my right arm and dragged me towards the elevator, excited, with a hint of deviousness written on her face. "Let's go see him together."

As soon Amy and I exit the elevator onto the sixtieth floor, we heard Harvey’s domineering voice and then the door burst open and a woman ran out, terrified. We looked at each other with an annoyed expression and then nodded our heads in unison.

While Amy went to check on the girl, I marched into his office without knocking and stood a couple of feet before his desk.

"Did I say you can enter my room without knocking?" He asked without looking up from his desk where he was scuffing through a stack of papers.

I placed my hands on my hips and questioned. "Why are you always so harsh with your staff?"

Harvey’s eyes widened at the sound of the all too familiar voice he had longed to hear, he instantaneously raised his head and revealed the shocked look on his face. As if he had just seen a ghost or something. Within minutes, he replaced it a cold dirty stare. Still holds onto grudges I see. "Why are you here?" he asked, rudely.

"I got a job at City A General Hospital," I said as I walked over to the L-shaped couch and sat down, crossing my legs.

Harvey hardened his glare as he looked at me from his leather couch behind his desk. "Leave, you are disrupting my work." His voice was cold and distant.

I frowned at his displeasing attitude. "I am sorry about what happened four years ago. Can we let the past stay in the past and move on? I miss you so much."

"Let the past stay in the past," he spat sarcastically. He slammed his hands down on the wooden table, causing the stack of papers to fly everywhere. "As if it wasn't bad enough when you brutally turned me down. But then you disappeared without a word, for FOUR FUCKING YEARS!"

My eyes widened in shock. When did Harvey start swearing? Did I elicit this from him? My heart pained at the thought. I got up and walked over to him, reaching out to his hands. "Harvey, I-"

"Don't touch me!" He yelled, smacking my hands away. He then pointed to the door. "Get the **** out of my office NOW!"

I glared at him angrily as tears formed at the corner of my eyes. "No need to tell me twice asshole. I heard you the first time," I replied, giving him the middle finger. Turning around, I headed for the door, slamming it shut behind me.

Amy ran up to me before I could step into the elevator that just opened with a worried expression. "What the hell happened in there?"

"I think… I ruined my relationship with Harvey," I confessed, as the tears I have been holding back rolled down my cheeks. "My main reason for coming back was for him. I missed him so much."

"Sophie, are you in love with him?"

"No," I replied. I have never looked at Harley that way and I don't think I ever will. Plus, he's like the twin brother I never had. We would argue, make-up, argue again and make-up again. Only this time, I don't think there will be a make-up. Things got heated back there. "I just miss having Harvey in my life is all."

Amy smiled gently at me. "Give him some space and he will come around. I think to see you out of the blue like that, awakened all those pent-up emotions. He was so furious back then, no one dare cross him."

"I am going to check in at my hotel," I said as I pushed the down button on the elevator. "When you get off work, swing by for some wine and chitchat."

"Oh, hell no," Amy replied. She dug her hand into her pocket and pulled out her spare keys. As she hands it to me, she stated. "You are staying with me until you find your own place."

I chuckled. Amy was and still is my best friend from back in high school. Harley and I met her during the opening ceremony for the new high school students. "Then look forward to a nice feast when you get home."

Amy brown eyes lit up. She leaped forward and hugged me. "I love you Sophie Huo!" She declared out loud.

As soon as I stepped outside of the Huang group building, I raised my hand and whistled, calling. "Taxi!" A taxi came to a stop before me, I opened the door and sat down in the back seat. "Parkview apartment please."

"Okay miss," the taxi driver said with a pleasant smile from the rear-view mirror. He was an older man with ashen grey hair.
