Chapter 4 - "New Manager"

"I like the new manager, she has a really positive energy, and she is the same age as us, it looks like we will get along with her." said Karen to them

On the other hand, Darlene has just started to adapt and decorate her office.

"Manager Song, there's a call from the Vice President, he's telling you to go to his office, right now." said the secretary to Darlene Song in a rush

Without realizing it, everyone was eavesdropping on the secretary's conversation with Darlene, and they were amazed why the Vice President was looking for a manager in her first day of work.

After that Darlene then walked to Jay's office full of anger, feeling humiliated, for what he said to her yesterday.

"What did you call me for?" ask Darlene to Jay opened the door walked in

"I received a ball party invitation from a friend, Matthew Huang, the event is next Sunday, and here is an invitation letter for you." said Jay to Darlene handing her the invitation letter

"Matthew Huang?" said Darlene Song shocked opening the invitation letter

"What's with that invitation letter, do you know him?" ask Jay to Darlene curious

"Nope, Alright then thanks, I'll go first." said Darlene then leaving the room with an annoyed feels

"Why don't you just give it to me tonight at home?" ask Darlene confused holding the door handle stopped a while

"I'm having an appointment tonight, and also congratulations on your new position." said Jay to Darlene staring at her

"Thanks, and appointment with Jadeline Fang well I hope you two have fun." mocking Darlene then leaving

"What's wrong with her, crazy woman." said Jay staring at the door in confusion

...Office...

After she returned to the office there were a lot of them gossiping, but hearing the heels tapping, they immediately go back to work, after seeing Darlene walking back from the Vice President office with an invitation letter.

"Did you hear the rumors saying that the Vice President is married, is it true?" ask a co-worker to another co-worker

"Manager Song have you heard the latest rumors?" ask a co-worker to Darlene suddenly

"What rumors?" ask Darlene who just came back from Jay office

"It's about the Vice President, rumors say that he is married, do you know about it?" ask the co-worker to Darlene

"No, I haven't heard it before, is that true?" ask Darlene pretend not to know

"It's just a hot rumor that was spreading around the company's, if it's true it should have been reported." said a co-worker to her

After that, Darlene returned to her seat and back to work, still mad at how Jay treated her, while looking at the invitation letter.

"But isn't it strange that on the first day the Vice President immediately called her and just gave her a piece of invitation letter?" ask a co-worker to another

"I wonder what kind of invitation it is." said another co-worker to another

"Shh, come on everyone, let's just focus on with work." said Karen to them

After a while, the afternoon had come, and it was time to off from work, Darlene then went home first, and headed to her family's house.

After arriving, she stood in front of the gate of her house and trying to open the lock, but it seemed like the house lock was already been changed.

“Father, mother, brother, aunt Zhu please open the door." shouted Darlene at the gate

Just then, coincidentally, a servant came out, and Darlene immediately shouted at her, and the servant came to her, she thought the servant would help her, but...

"Please open the gate for me." said Darlene to the servant looking tired of shouting

"Lady, I'm sorry I wasn't allowed by sir and madam to open the gate for you." said the servant

"Sir and madam want to say that it would be better if you never come back again, because they don't want to see you anymore." said the servant then walked back to the house without really care about her

Hearing those words, her heart was torn apart, even though the only house that understood her the most had betrayed her too.

Marrying her to an unknown man to save her family, she made sacrifices and this is what she got, being thrown out.

Disappointed, annoyed and sad, she cried in front of the gate of her house for several hours but not a single person came out of the house.

Night had come, and suddenly heavy rain, but Darlene was still sitting at the gate front while crying with deep sadness.

"What have I done to deserve a life like this?" said Darlene while crying in tears

Her clothes were soaked, so Darlene finally decided to go back to her car and return to her new house. She walked to the car with her arms crossed while rubbing her cold arms in tears.

While on the road, driving in sadness and darkness, she accidentally almost hit someone. Panicking, she immediately got out of her car and grabbed her jacket and umbrella then headed towards the car.

"Excuse me, are you okay?" ask Darlene to the owner of the car trembling

"I'm fine, how about you?" ask the guy to Darlene

"I'm fine... Wait, you're Matthew, right?" ask Darlene shocked to the guy

"Darlene, it's been a long time since we've seen each other." reply Matthew Huang to Darlene with a smile

Suddenly Darlene burst into tears once again, Matthew was shocked, because suddenly Darlene cried in the middle of the rainy road, while her clothes soaking wet, seeing this, Matthew immediately got out of his car.

"Do you know that after you left me, everything was not okay, you bastard?" said Darlene while squatting and crying in his car window

"I'm sorry." said Matthew getting down from the car, holding an umbrella for her

It turns out that they are both exes, who haven't seen each other for a long time, because Matthew left her and went abroad without any clear explanation.
