Chapter 5 - "Old Lovers"

After that, Darlene was carried into Matthew's car while asleep after cried for a while, and her car was parked across the road, after a 30 minutes nap she woke up from the sleep.

"I just had a dream that I almost had a car accident and met him, did I miss him that much?" ask Darlene to herself who just wake up from her sleep

"Damn it, put me down." said Darlene to Matthew shocked

"Should you change your clothes first, I happened to buy a dress for my sister but you could take it first, I will buy it for her again later." said Matthew to her handing the dress

"No need." said Darlene with a straight face looking at him

"Is it because you're embarrassed for crying then saying you miss me?" ask Matthew to Darlene with an awkward smile

"Did I say that it seems like it's just your imagination?" said Darlene embarrassed

"To be honest, I admit that 2 years ago it was me who was wrong, but I apologize, I can't give a clear reason because I was sent by force by my family." explain Matthew to Darlene

"I held a party next Sunday, I hope you came." said Matthew then gave her an invitation letter

"I already have it." said Darlene to Matthew showing her invitation letter to him

"How can that be, wait for young Mr. Tang and Mrs. Tang, you and Jay Tang are married?" ask Matthew shocked

"Yeah, it seems so." said Darlene to Matthew with a straight face

"Wait, you're already married?" said Matthew to Darlene shocked then stopped driving

"You better hurry up and take me back, or else I will caught a cold." said Darlene to Matthew with a serious look

"Are you serious about marrying him?" ask Matthew shocked to Darlene

"Of course, did I ever joke around while we were together?" ask Darlene in a tone

"You did." muttered Matthew

"So you plan to get back with me, after leaving for 2 years without a trace, and suddenly appears in front of me like this." said Darlene to Matthew disappointed

"I never meant to leave you, it's just that I didn't have the chance and time to explain to you." said Matthew to Darlene staring at her eyes

At that moment the car was silent, they were both silent, they both felt awkward, finally Darlene was taken home by Matthew because coincidentally her car had also run out of fuel because it was started in the middle of the road.

After arriving in front of the gate of the mansion, Darlene immediately told Matthew to stop for a moment.

"Why?" ask Matthew stopped the car

They both then saw Jay standing in front of their gate door smiling at Jadeline and then kissing her.

"We should go somewhere else first and come back later." said Darlene to Matthew look away

"Is this how he treats you after marrying you?" ask Matthew looking at Darlene

"Why do you want to marry a man like that?"

"Shut up and just drive away." said Darlene to Matthew in a tone

During the drive, it was quiet again, Matthew was silent and so was Darlene, at that time Matthew took Darlene to a park, where they always visited the place when they were still together.

"So how long are we going to wait here?" ask Matthew sitting in another chair

"Until I said go." reply Darlene to Matthew

"Why do you want to marry him, he's definitely cheating on you." said Matthew to Darlene

"At least it's still better that he's stay, than leaving without any news." replied Darlene with a sarcasm to Matthew

"Can you tell me the truth?"

"I have no choice but to save my family." said Darlene to him then suddenly tearings again

The situation there suddenly turned blue, Darlene crying again and again, She thought about the sadness of being left by her family that she's really depends on and trust.

After a while, almost an hour, Darlene was finally drive home by Matthew.

"Thank you very much for today, and I'm sorry." said Darlene to Matthew after that walked in to the mansion without turning back

"It's okay, okay, see you again." said Matthew inside her car windows and then drove away

When she entered the mansion, she saw Jay sitting on the sofa reading a document for the umpteenth time.

"Why did you come home so late today, where did you go?" ask Jay to Darlene looking at her

Darlene didn't reply at all and walked upstairs without saying anything, with her eyes swollen from crying over her own family's betrayal, and humiliation she got.

Jay saw that Darlene wasn't answering him so he went over and turned around, accidentally looking at her swollen eyes.

"You cried?" ask Jay to Darlene shocked a little after looking at her face

"This is none of your business." said Darlene dropped Jay's hand from her shoulder and walking upstairs quickly

The next day she woke up with her swollen eyes, she forgot that today she was supposed to meet Jay's family, she forgot, it's been two days now.

She then put on the sunglasses and left with Jay for his family's house. On the way, the atmosphere in the car was very quiet.

"Sunglasses, are they to cover up those puffy swollen eyes?" ask Jay looking at Darlene holding his laughter

"This is none of your business." answer Darlene cold

"If they see you later they'll think you're weird." replied Jay to Darlene

"I don't care." answer Darlene cold facing the car window

"I want you to work with my mother's family company once again, the Ke Company." said Jay to Darlene

"Why do you need to tell..., why all of a sudden?" ask Darlene pretend to care

"Our family relationship with the Ke family is not very good, and they canceled their cooperation with us after decades, without a clear explaination." said Jay to Darlene while driving

"And now I think you as a skillful Song Company advisor, you might be able to persuade them with a new proposal." said Jay to Darlene

"And about Jadeline, I went to dig up information about her, she's named Jadeline Fang." said Jay to Darlene

Darlene was shocked because suddenly he was digging up information about his own girlfriend.

"For what?" ask Darlene looking at him with a shocked strange weird look
