HLS-01

The night is dark, the wind is cold, and the silence brings anxiety and relaxation to people. This night, a man can be seen sitting at the entrance of a cave, you can see him enveloped in a black tattered cape, his naturally white smooth skin gone and now has wounds and scars.

His eyes that was always bright and lively now looks very gloomy, soulless and dead.

Looking up at the big bright Moon alone at the night sky with no stars to accompany it, the man felt like laughing.

Why's he here you ask?

He was just Vinter Solace, third son of Marquis Solace who's one of the prominent figures of the Empire. Yet a son of a Marquis is here sitting motionless on a dirty ground full of wounds and even his beautiful face was covered in blood, as to why?

Because he's the Villain.. the people said. The villain who knows nothing but trouble his siblings, parents, the whole helpers in their mansion, and the whole nobility of the empire.

He is a Villain alright. Yes he troubles his siblings, yes he troubles his parents and yes he troubles all people inside the mansion, but it all has reasons.

Since the day he came back on his family at the age of 11,all he did was suffer from the criticism of his siblings who never knew what he experienced outside when he was kidnapped at three and grew up to a hideous place called orphanage. All he did was endure all the bullying and humiliation of the servants in their mansion, the words of 'teaching and love' of his parents.

He endured and endured until he can't take it anymore, he's not a Saint or a God who will let them all go, who will let all bullying and humiliation given to him to just pass, he doesn't have a halo above his head at the beginning okay?

But when the first time he talked back, the first time he reprimanded the servants and the first time he reasoned his parents, he was called unfilial, hateful, unreasonable, and a villain. So he did.

He started to act out all the words he was being called as, he started to be unreasonable as they said he was, he started to become vicious who everyone hated, but what was it all to him? It's all nothing.

He didn't started this, he didn't want this, he was forced because this was what everyone is calling him. They are the right ones, they are the honest ones, so if he acted out of 'character' he will only be called names again right?

The day he first started to really physically hurt someone, he was branded a killer.. like yeah really, a bump on the shoulder and pushing to get a small scratch on their hand is already a crime, even if the latter was a commoner former slave.. it wasn't really intentional too.

But what can he do? Their words are more powerful than him, so he endured.

There was this night too where two of his siblings plotted against him, to what? to silence him for a lifetime, and when he fought back, that one sibling who wasn't there 'accidentally' found him stabbing his sibling.

Like.. yeah, he stabbed him, happy?

Apart from the time where he had conversed to a strange boy when he was 14 when one of the servants who 'accompanied' him out of their mansion to buy an equipment ordered by the Marquis, Vinter never felt peace and calm.

So after that day Vinter started to sneak out and look for that boy again, but to his bad luck, never even the tip of the boy's silhouette was seen.

Remembering the relax and sincere attitude and smile of that boy, Vinter unconsciously arc up his lips, together with that was a drop of a tear from his left cheek.

All he wanted was love and attention from the family he longed for, but why did all he got was suffering and endless pain?

Looking down at the dagger in his pale, skinny wounded hand, he released a pained chuckled.

in his hoarse emotionless voice he asked, "Am i born just to be a tragic one? If someone's there writing my life.. may i ask, is there still worst to come?"
