A Sweet Summer's Taste
Le Rave Bar
Valdoise, Paris
11:00PM
Jeanne just entered one of the famous bars in Valdoise. Her eyes quickly scanned the area to check for any familiar face. She is anxious while she is checking her phone from time to time. The banging sound from the dance floor makes her head hurts. There are so many people in the bar that night and it is hard to find the person she is looking for. She looked at her watch and it is already 15 minutes past eleven o'clock still, she cannot see the man she is looking for. Mostly the people that she is seeing are almost drunk and going crazy on the dance floor. She know's how to have to good time herself but now is not the right time for her to do so. She was there for a reason and that reason is making her anxious. She seemed to be absorbed with her thoughts and the message she received earlier that evening that almost gasped when she felt her phone vibrated on her hand. Somebody sent her a message.
"If you want to see him go to the Suite VIP 106"
The message came from an anonymous number. It was the, the same number that texted her earlier about the affair of her fiance, Alex and her childhood friend, Allie.
"This is it." She told herself. "The moment of truth is about to begin."
She took a deep breath as she make her way through the dance floor towards the VIP room that was texted to her.
============
It only took her a few minutes to find the VIP room. She can already hear the flirty music from the outside and some people giggling and laughing. She stood there for a few minutes, contemplating whether she will enter the room or not.
After several minutes of standing at the front of the door of Suite VIP 106 and after getting several weird glances from waiters and other clients passing by the hallway, Jeanne already made her decision.
"I've had enough of these bullshits and I don't want to look stupid in front of anyone anymore!!! If what this text tells me is true then I will end it now!"
Without further ado, she opened the door without even knocking and everyone inside the room froze at the sight of her. No one dares to utter a single word or even make a move. Everyone seems to be in shocked. Her peers, her so called friend and the man who promised to spend the rest of his life with her are all there and they seems to be having fun watching her friend fondling the chest of the man she ever loved.
"So... Alex..." She was the first one to break the silence but her voice trailed off as she doesn't know how to finish her sentence at all. She felt like all the blood in her body was drained out of her. She can hear her heart thumping loudly inside her chest. Her vision is starting to get cloudy from tears but she firmly hold her ground. Now is not the right time for her to grieve and look weak in front of those who made a fool out of her. Her whole body's trembling and she dare not to make a move as she doesn't want to make a scene at all. Dignity. That's the only thing she is holding on to herself right now.
"Jeanne..." said Alex, the man who's hand is still around the waist of the woman sitting beside her. He desperately looked around their friends who seems to avoid his eyes. All of them are feeling guilty towards Jeanne. None of them knows what to say at all. Alex who seems to finally come to his senses realized that he is still groping Allie and he suddenly pushed her away from him.
"What the heck Alex! What do you think you are doing?" Allie is obviously mad with the way Alex had treated her just a moments ago but Alex doesn't seems to hear her at all.
"Jeanne, it is not what you think it is." Alex, finally choked out.
"Well it seems like that you, my snakey childhood friend over there and together with some of our other friends are enjoying watching you guys having a tequilla body shot. Am I not right?" Jeanne tried to remain calm and even managed to gave out a sarcastic smile.
"It is just a game...." Alex tried in his defense.
"A game? Don't you f*cking kidding me. So does this means that you will be completely ok seeing me having someone else sip that shot right from my chest right?!!!!" Jeanne heatedly argued with Alex.
Her fiance can no longer answer and just looked down. It was a complete silence for the next couple of minutes and Jeanne decided to just walk away and leave it. There is no sense fighting for this anyway. This was not the first time Alex did this to her but she just turned a blind eye and gave him thousands of chances hoping that he will change but tonight is just too unbearable for her. Of all the people that her fiance would choose why her childhood friend. She loved the both of them from the bottom of heart. The pain in her heart is just too much and she cannot afford to hurt these two precious people in her life even if they have hurt her so she will just walk away and pretend that everyone in that room never existed in her whole entire life but as she was about to turn her back she heard Allie, her childhood friend talked.
"Why don't you just tell her the truth Alex? Why don't you just tell her the truth about us and how much you wanted to break off the engagement with her because she is not someone who could bring satisfaction in your life?! Tell her!"
Jeanne was taken aback a bit but instantly gained back her composure. She smirked while looking at her so called childhood friend. Hatred burning in her green eyes. "You know what Allie?" Jeanne was caressing the engagement ring that she is still wearing as she slowly walk forward towards her childhood friend who betrayed her, broke her heard and stole her man away. "When Alex, gave me thing ring, I was overwhelmed with happiness. Who wouldn't? I am wearing a very expensive Tiffany ring with an intense orange diamond in it.You know what..." She stopped right in front of her friend. "They said that diamonds can break through glasses. I wonder if they can break your face."
Before anybody could do or say anything, she already hit Allie's face with her left fist. The ring obviously left a good wound on her friend's face. Allie fell down on the floor. She obviously has the lower hand for being a bit tipsy from drinking earlier and for fighting the woman who is already flaring up in anger, pain and hatred. She tried to stand up even though she is feeling dizzy. She looked at Jeanne and saw that some of their friends already went between them to keep them at distance..
"Allie Seymour!!!! You should know better that messing up with me!. You know that I am not a kind person! I'll let the both of you go for old times sake but never ever cross me again!" Jeanne's eyes are full of anger and hatred while looking at her friend and her now ex- fiance. "If you badly wanted to be his wife, I don't mind!. Go. Eat. This. Sh*t." Jeanne removed the ring from her hand and throw it on Allie's face. She turned her back and started to walk away. Alex stop her short at the door.
"Jeanne, Let's talk! Let's fix this! I'm sorry!" His voice is imposing yet apologetic at the same time.
"I'm tired of your lies Alex. A trash only belongs to trash. Goodbye Alex." She looks so firm and strong but the moment she walked past him, tears started to uncontrollably fall down from her eyes.
She can feel her heart being ripped apart...
