Chapter one

As the sun set, Serena found her self at the bus station with her luggage and being surrounded by a noisy crowd. she held on tightly to her belongings in fear that she may get grabbed . Her eyes kept roaming around with anxiety but she didn’t know why she had traveled so many times this didn’t seem new to her but it seem so familiar like shed already faced this like she was reliving this situation. soon the bus arrived and they started boarding . she got in and looked for her seat. After spotting her seat she sat down. At that moment, she realized how she had been holding her breath all this while. Her phone suddenly rung and she was sure of who it was that she didn’t have to look at her caller ID to know who it is. “Hey Mark…… yeah am off now……. love you too .bye”she pushed her phone into her pocket and put back on her head phones. Anyone who was looking at her could see worry in her eyes , fear and hope. Yes she had hope that this would be the start of something. A change in both hers and Mark’s life. No matter how Mark reacted to her outbursts she knew well that he felt sad but never admitted it. He always sneaked out in the middle of the night to drink with his friends whenever she had outbursts because of her silliness. He’s been a true brother. she fished out her phone one more time and looked at there pictures together . There childhood moments came flooding in even though they had spent the past three days spending time together. she still felt empty within . she was going to be far from home. Her home was in Mark her elder brother. she suddenly found herself dialing his number again.

she didn’t understand where sudden out burst was coming from but it really hurt being far. after a brief moment of silence he let out a sigh of relief.

“i left some food the microwave make sure you eat it all don’t waste it. and there is also a note book in my room on the table it has a list of staff i need you need to do. okay don’t forget” she said in panic.

hey breathe ! stop freaking out.am going to do fine without you. come on don’t make me feel bad just like back then when mum grounded you for sneaking out to hmm i mean to party. He replied in his usual

calm voice yet again reminding her that she didn’t have anything to be afraid of. she let out a huge sigh of relief as her eye dated to the window .

are you sure that was me cause i don’t really recall me doing that. wasn’t that you?.she said

“there is no way that could ever have been me. i was always the good one that’s why i was mu’s favorite remember? anyway i have to go later okay? take care . feel free to contact me at any time.”

she laughed it off and ended the call. with a lingering touch, its like that moment should never should this moment end. damn she dint want to but maybe its finally fitting in no words to say goodbye. The went to its resting base and that was it . Her new journey. she woke up with the sun rays poking through her eyelids and the sounds of loud shouts. she gets off the bus. and yeas a new air something different from the normal city polluted air. a new spirit was in this place. a spirit of freedom that shouted way too loud. she got off the bus looking around at the place. after walking away from the bus station she bumped into a man wearing a black suit. she wondered what a finely dressed man would be doing at such a bus station. she muttered an apology and walked away but the man called out her name. For a moment a frown settled on her flawless face. Ms. Serena wright? she turned around at the mention of the her name in the most unfamiliar voice. standing before her was a tall pale looking man in a black turkey suit . his one hand in his pocket and other holding the hem of the his coat. she tried recalling if perhaps she had seen him any where but it was clear she had had no acquaintance with him at all.

“Edward Barlow . I’ve been sent to pick you up by the Franklins. so please follow me.”

she dint know weather to trust him or not. How could he know that she was the one he was meant to pick up nerveless , she still followed him to the car closely until they reached the car. He helped her load her luggage in to the car then he moved to the drivers seat after he made sure that she was settled in. his actions seemed so natural to her. He must have worked for the Franklin for a while. looking out the window, she couldn’t help it admire the green nature of the place. They had been on the road for the past one hour but it seemed like they where going nowhere. the driver hadn’t spoken a single word ever since they had hit the road . his silence was starting to irritate her . couldn’t he just say at least a single word for goodness sake. she fished her phone out looked the time it was clocking 9;00 Am. the night had been rough and tiresome. she decided to ring Mark’s phone. after a few seconds, mark finally answered with his voice sounding quiet awake. she knew well Mark must have been to work for two to three hours at work by now.

good morning troll head! . she said.

ouch was that for real. am i already being mistreated by the independent lady?. he replied.

she laughed at his tone of speech. they both remained silent waiting for the other to say a word at least. the driver minded his own business like no one else was in the car.

Mark, this place is beautiful! how did you find this job . the air here is so refreshing unlike the stinking air in the city.bro you need to come here.

hold your horses little girl,wait until you reach the your destination. ahhhmm…. Serena i have to go you know am at work . take care call me later. am going to call you everyday. actually call me everyday since i might not be able to.

a short drive after the call, they arrived at a place with well maintained that looked so beautiful . she couldn’t hold her excitement any longer she just had to take in the scent of the green nature. she put her head out the window and shouted to the top of her lungs.

whoa who said heaven is meant to be seen after death. am a live and am living going to heaven whoaaaaaaaaa……

“miss please get back in” said the driver. he kept looking at once in a while through the rear view mirror . for a minute he thought of stopping the car but they had already arrived anyway. a few minutes later , they are the entrance of a arrived villa. “God make sure this isn’t a dream” . she said while pinching herself. “ouch” she winced in pain. the gates were opened as they entered, her eyes grew brighter with every passing minute . the smile on her face could out shine a bulb. a few minutes later the car stopped in front of a large white mansion . they driver got out and walked to her side of the door but by the time he arrived

, she had opened the door and was out looking at the mansion. she walked towards the mansion forgetting that she was in no position to roam around like the lady of the house. “you seem to be unable to control yourself. this isn’t a zoo and you are no ten year old so control yourself miss” she heard a low authoritative voice coming from the other side . she turned her head to the direction of the voice. indeed the persons appearance did not fail to differ from her voice. “i believe i have a right to expression and speech” she responded confidently.the other lady in a black knee length dress seem too mature for her age. she looked to be twenty five or twenty six. but the aura around her was too intimidating and arrogant .
