Some days had passed, and Felipe was fed up with seeing that aberration in front of him. His "personal secretary" had no sense of fashion!

That long, brown skirt looked like the very skin of the girl, who resembled an old woman with those clothes. Not to mention the always brightly colored blouses. Sometimes he caught himself looking at her...

Miss Velazquez would sometimes bite the tip of her pink pen and go back to writing, changing the color of the pen several times. He didn't know why such a simple gesture hypnotized him that way.

Felipe's thoughts were heavy; he policed himself. He was never one to treat a woman without due consideration, and he had a sweet sister at home.

He pushed back his chair, grabbed his belongings, and left the room, slamming the door behind him. He must be going crazy.

Helena was startled by the slamming of the door. Only then did she realize that her boss had left.

The door opened slowly, and the secretary Francisca poked her head in:

"Lena, the little boss isn't coming back today. He left here looking very unhappy."

Helena raised her head and looked at the secretary. She liked her; in just a few days, she could tell that she was a woman ahead of her age, full of life.

"Whew! Free from my jailer…"

Francisca smiled:

"Stop being annoying! My little boss is a sweetheart. If I didn't have my honey at home, I would raise him with care and dedication." she said, fluttering her huge eyelashes.

"Cisca... Cisca... if your honey hears you..."

"My honey knows that I've been drooling over the little boss for years." she laughed jovially. Her joy was contagious; she seemed more like a teenager than a 48-year-old woman.

The two laughed, and soon each returned to her duties. Helena focused on the boss's schedule. The following week would be full. Meetings and even an international trip to one of the hotels in the Mello family chain.

She took off her huge fake glasses, placing them on the table, and rubbed her eyes. "This business will end up harming my eyes."

She got up and walked around the room a bit, barefoot, stretching her legs and arms, thinking about her life, her future...

She had always been alone, and after her mother's death, she lost all the love she had received until she was 10 years old. Suellen was the closest thing to a family she had. Just thinking about her friend warmed her heart. She missed her friend and the nights of movies and popcorn...

She looked through the glass.

The day was ending, and down below, she could see the hustle and bustle of pedestrians, so many people and she alone. At that moment, Francisca opened the door:

"Lena... my honey will be late to pick me up, so I made plans to meet him at a bar nearby. Would you like to keep me company?" Francisca had a pleading look...

"I don't usually go out..."

"But you will protect me from predators! My honey will be at peace..."

Helena couldn't refuse, but deep down, she knew it would be good to get out of the routine of everyday life.

"Cisca, you leave me no other alternative."

And so, in 30 minutes, they were in a bar. Helena had never been to a place like that.

The atmosphere was a bit dark, with deliberately dim lighting, some stools near the bar, and some tables and chairs scattered around the place.

"With that silly look, I can tell you've never been to a pub." Francisca noticed immediately.

"No... I've never been to a bar."

"Don't worry, I'll introduce you to the wonderful drinks they serve here."

Without further questions or explanations, Francisca quickly ordered several colorful glasses, and the two shared the drinks. Before they knew it, five drinks had evaporated.

"We better stop." Francisca advised "My honey is arriving and won't like it at all, not at all. Want a ride?"

"No need, Cisca. You live in a different direction. I'll call a ride-sharing car."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm great. I'll just go to the restroom and then head home."

They said goodbye, and Helena went to the restroom to get rid of the heat that was taking over her body. Upon returning to the hall, she resisted and ordered another colorful glass.

"I want the blue one..."

Perhaps because of her loneliness or perhaps because of a lack of judgment, Helena ended up ordering another glass, making a row of empty glasses on the table. Her mood was terrible, and now, with her mind weakened by alcohol, she began to question whether it was worth returning to that empty apartment and her even emptier life. She just didn't know that a pair of eyes had been watching her attentively since the moment she arrived there.

Sitting in a secluded corner, protected by the shadows, he analyzed the environment. He didn't call his friends Bruno and Diego; he wanted to put his thoughts in order. He looked at a recent notification on his cell phone; it was his mother wanting him to have dinner with the family, but he refused. It would certainly be another dinner to get him married.

His eyes fixed on the entrance door as his two employees arrived. There was no way not to recognize them: Francisca had been a secretary at the company for years, and the other, Helena, was unmistakable with that horrible outfit and her square body, those bottle-bottom glasses...
