The Basketball Game

Kai and Jax attend the basketball game, cheering on their favorite team.

KAI (V.O.)

I'm trying to have fun, but it's hard when all I can think about is Jax.

Jax's Antics

Jax makes a fool of himself, cheering loudly and doing silly dances.

KAI (V.O.)

Jax can be so clueless sometimes, but it's also kind of adorable.

Kai's Realization

Kai realizes that his feelings for Jax go beyond friendship.

KAI (V.O.)

I think I might be in love with Jax.

Jax's Concern

Jax notices that Kai seems distracted and asks if everything is okay.

Jax:Dude, what's wrong? You seem really out of it tonight.

I'm fine, Jax. Just tired.

Kai's Escape

Kai excuses himself to go to the bathroom, needing a break from Jax.

Yeah, I'm positive! Let's go get some food!

Kai's Turmoil

As they walk to the food stand, Kai's emotions swirl with turmoil.

KAI (V.O.)

I feel like I'm living a lie. But what's the alternative?

Food Stand Conversation

Kai and Jax order food and sit down to eat.

Jax:So, dude, what's been going on with you lately? You seem really distracted.

Kai:(nervously)

I'm just stressed with schoolwork, that's all.

Jax:(skeptically)

Schoolwork? You're not even taking any hard classes.

Kai:(defensively)

Hey, my classes are hard, okay?

Jax(laughing)

Dude, you're not even taking any AP classes.

Kai starts to feel frustrated with Jax's questioning.

Kai's Frustration

Kai:(angrily)

Look, Jax, just drop it, okay? I don't want to talk about it.

(hurt)

Fine, dude. Whatever.

The conversation ends awkwardly, with Kai feeling guilty for snapping at Jax.

Jax's Concern

Jax:(concerned)

Hey, dude, I'm sorry if I pushed you too hard. I just want to make sure you're okay.

Kai:(sheepishly)

I'm sorry too, Jax. I just...I don't know, I'm just really stressed out right now.

Jax:(supportively)

It's okay, dude. I'm here for you.

Kai feels a pang of gratitude towards Jax, but also feels guilty for not being honest with him.

Kai:I think his name is Tyler. I heard he's really smart.

Yeah, right. I bet he's just another nerd.

Kai playfully rolls his eyes at Jax's comment.

Classroom

Kai and Jax sit in class, waiting for the teacher to start the lesson. Tyler, the new kid, walks in and takes a seat nearby.

Kai:(whispering to Jax)

Hey, look. That must be Tyler.

Jax:(whispering back)

Yeah, he looks like a total brainiac.

Tyler catches Kai's eye and smiles, and Kai only looks at him

Lunchtime

Kai, Jax, and Tyler sit together at lunch, chatting and getting to know each other with some girls surrounding jay and Kai.

Tyler:So, what's the school like here?

Kai:It's pretty cool. We have a lot of spirit weeks and stuff.

Jax:(yeah, and we have a killer football team)

Tyler:(impressed)

No way! I'm a huge football fan.

Kai and Jax exchange a look, surprised by Tyler's interest in football.

After School

Kai, Jax, and Tyler hang out after school, playing video games and having fun.

Kai:(laughing)

Tyler, you're actually really good at this game!

Tyler:(smiling)

Thanks, Kai! I've been practicing.

Jax:(teasingly)

Yeah, Tyler's a total gaming nerd.

Tyler playfully rolls his eyes at Jax's comment.

Emily's Introduction

As they're playing games, Emily, a cheerleader, walks into the room.

Emily:Hey, guys! What's going on?

Kai:Hey, Emily! We're just playing some games.

Emily(excitedly)

Oh, cool! Can I join in?

Jax:(sarcastically)

Oh, great. Because we didn't have enough people already.

Emily playfully hits Jax on the arm, and the group continues to hang out and have fun.

Tyler's Interest

As the afternoon goes on, Tyler starts to show more and more interest in Kai.

Tyler:(to Kai)

Hey, Kai, can I talk to you for a minute?

Kai:(curiously)

Yeah, sure. What's up?

Tyler pulls Kai aside, and they start to talk.

Tyler:(whispering)

I just wanted to say that I'm really glad we met, Kai. You seem like a really cool guy.

Kai:(smiling)

Thanks, Tyler. I'm glad we met too.

As they're talking, Jax looks over and raises an eyebrow, noticing the chemistry between Kai and Tyler.

Kai's Realization

Kai is hanging out with Tyler, Emily, and Jax, and he starts to notice his feelings.

KAI (V.O.)

I think I've been blind to my feelings for too long. I'm starting to realize that I'm not interested in guys romantically.

Kai looks over at Emily, who is laughing and chatting with Jax.

KAI (V.O.)

I think I might have feelings for Emily.

Kai's eyes widen as he realizes his true feelings.

Kai's Confusion

Kai is confused and unsure of what to do with his newfound feelings.

KAI (V.O.)

I don't know what to do. I've been so focused on my friendship with Jax that I never thought about my own feelings.

Kai looks over at Jax, who is oblivious to Kai's inner turmoil.

Kai's Decision

Kai decides to take a chance and explore his feelings for Emily.

I'm going to take a chance and see where things go with Emily.
