Desire You

Desire You

Her Unwavering faith

Amidst the bustling noisiness of Hyderabad evening, stood a cozy space, a beautiful cafe, located across the street. With a modern infrastructure and the slightest traditional touch here and there bringing out the comfort of home, gave the customers the perfect space for having dates, workspace environment and every other cafe doing activity. "Sweet Nothings" the cafe was called, the reason this cafe stood apart from the rest of the cafes was their unique flavorful coffees they provided, a great alternative for black coffee which was usually tasteless. The fruit flavoured coffees with limited sugar intake, a recipe created by the owner herself, brought out a great positive response from the customers, especially those customers who were calorie conscious and gym freaks.

Aira, the owner of the chain of cafes, "Sweet Nothings" was successful in her endeavour of making her cafe widespread across the country. So much so, now she was expanding her business further into malls, which would give her more profit and the cafe its recognition.

Aira belonged to an elite business family. Everything that she asked for was given to her, except for the freedom, freedom to choose her career, her man, her everything. She felt as if she were a puppet controlled by her family heritage. Her family was strictly against women entering the business field, in fact women were made to study in fancy universities just for them to get married later. But her interests ran far into business and thus she detached from her family and with the unwavering faith she reached to where she is now in her life.

Currently, she was on her way to a particular branch where a problem arose.

Dressed in an a-line red pencil skirt with a silk beige blouse, her left wrist adorned with a classic watch, hand gripping onto a file while her right hand held the phone to her ear, she walked with steady steps, each step with a commanding presence, alerting all the staff members. With every step that she took, the thin rose gold chain clasped around her neck was ever so slightly, shifting and dancing on either of her clavicle. She exuded a unique sexiness in the way she walked or talked, but at the same time it was uneasy to even have a simple conversation with her so much so...every guy that she talked to said only one thing 'I can't handle such an independent dominant woman'....such was her dating life. Even the clanking of her heels attracted the attention of few customers who either looked at her in awe or in boredom. In short her presence couldn't be ignored, whether in admiration or envy, in jealousy or hatred, in interest or boredom her aura brought out a significant amount of stares wherever she went.

But for her, she didn't care, she got accustomed to these eyes.....the eyes that look at her, that judge her, but she didn't care and that's how it should be.

Her steps halted, her thumb pressing the red button on her phone ending the call, as she was about to reach the door handle, it was pulled open by a nervously smiling old bald man.

Aira entered the cabin, not least bit bothered by him opening the door like he usually does, she was now all the more disgusted after knowing the reason for his sycophancy all this time. She thought all of this extraness was through pure love, was because she was his niece but well she realised now that it was all flattery and boot-licking...nevermind.

She sat opposite him as she spoke,

"Mr.Shetty, you needn't always come running across your desk just to open the door for me, your job doesn't entail that duty, unless...

"Aira bete, why are you calling me Mr.shetty, I'm your babai ra." (babai - paternal uncle, ra - an endearment)

Aira gritted her teeth and tilted her head, "unless you do all the sugarcoating to compensate for the losses you've been causing to my company since the past few months, it's because of the guilt yeah?"

Mr.Shetty laughed nervously, his tone awkward as he spoke, "bete I think there has been some misunderstanding..."

Before he could finish, Aira slammed the file onto the desk. Glancing at the name on the file, the older man's face got instantly drained of its colours.

She spoke with a higher pitch, "Despite being aware of the fact that my team and I have been trying to make a partnership with Dixit enterprises, and yet... yet unbeknownst to me, you've been disregarding the deal with them each time they sent the proposal. In fact you even showed the records of no proposals being made since the past couple of weeks."

"As I said, little of bit of misconcept..."

"I don't wanna know the reason why you did it, whether you were compelled to do it, I don't care, you breached the company's contract, in fact I can sue you for it and sue the company behind you for this stupid dirty act" Aira ended her sentence with a tone of finalty.

"Bete, I'm innocent, this doing is not me.."

A bitter laugh escaped her throat listening to another attempt on lying , "tch,tch,tch.."

"Look, let's settle this here, I am your uncle, although he's my nephew but if I have to choose between you and him, I'll choose him you know that, he needs to be on top Aira, that's how our family has always been..I know we are in the wrong but..."

"Why did I even trust you?"....Aira muttered under her breath.

"Shhh...Now just sign this resignation letter and get out of my company, otherwise I'll make sure you and your dear nephew's company will crumble down to shreds. Although I gotta admire your efforts for being so discreeted for what, nearly 2 months in my company, uncle." Aira said sweetly.

His bald was shining with the amount of sweating he's done the past 15 mins, Aira barked at him, "Didn't you hear what I said?! Sign the papers or should I call the police?"

Mr.Shetty visibly gulped and signed, leaving the place hurriedly.

Aira rubbed her forehead, the exhaustion of the whole day coming up to her in the form of a severe headache. She rested on the chair, when a knock sounded through

"Aira ma'am, did it go well? Shall I bring you your coffee?" Prisha poked her head asking the tensed woman.

A micro smile appeared on Aira's face and before it even appeared, it was gone "A coffee would be great Prisha and yes things got sorted."

Prisha nodded while quickly going away and returned in no time with a hot mug of coffee in her hands.

Taking a sip of her coffee, Aira heaved a sigh of relief, a few minutes of silence among them which was then broken by Aira, " Prisha, would you take up Shetty's position in this branch? The pay would be double that of now, and as for the head manager post entails, you pretty much know everything already."

"omg ma'am, yes! "

" but would you be able to manage it with your studies?" Aira asked worriedly, to which Prisha shrugged and nodded excitedly.

The next day, Aira had booked an appointment with the Ceo of Dixit enterprises. She was surely set on getting the deal back but only if she knew that knocking into Dixit's life would get her life into a spiral of unnecessary drama, she would have wished not making a deal with him.
