Chapter 4

"I feel guilty. I didn't save Sunbai because of the kindness in my heart. I saved him because it reminds me of when I first met Evan. everything about Sunbai reminds me of Evan.”

*flash back*

Two years ago…  

“I'm sorry but I don't feel the same way. i'm already with Sammy.”

Evan gives him a bitter smile.

“But do you love her? I know that you felt what I felt, why else would you have kissed me. If you tell me you love her, and you really don't want to be with me I'll walk away, but I want you to know that I really do like you .

“You know why I can't be with you Evan. I- I can't take the pressure you or anybody else puts on me. I'm sorry but I have to go. I hope we don't meet again.” he walks inside the school he never turned back to, not even to take a second look at what he's lost. Evan went to a party with his friend Hugo. he went to distract himself from his unrequited love. “Stop thinking about him. Even if he had agreed to stay with you he would have kept you a secret it's better to end it now then later it would have hurt more.” Evan nods, “Your right. But it still hurts.

Toka was also attending the party. He attended every party not because he wanted to but because that was the only place he could go when his dad was home. Evan had got really drunk. He had one after another. 

“Hey Evan you see that guy over there?” Hugo points at Toka. “he's been checking you out this whole time, you should go talk to him.”

“I don't know Hugo, he looks light, he's glaring at me.” Hugo laughs “he's not glaring at you, it just looks that way because you don't have your glasses on.” Hugo pushes Evan towards Toka, “Don't come back over here until you get his number.”

Evan walks toward Toka. “I shouldn't be so hard he's by himself so he looks a bit easier to approach. Evan walks up to Toka. “excuse me but can i have your number?”

Before Toka smiles and walks close to him. “Do you know who I am?”

“No but you look pretty handsome from close up. It's okay I knew the answer was going to be no anyways. Sorry for wasting your time.”  

Toka grabs Evan's hand and pulls him up close. "Who says I was gonna say no? I was only surprised." Toka releases Evan. "Give me your phone."

"Huh? You can't have my phone, this is the only one I got." Toka reaches out and flicks Evan in the head. Evan covers his forehead and looks at Toka. He starts pouting. "What'd you do that for?"

"Just hand me your phone and you'll get it back." Evan reaches in his pocket and grabs his phone. He hands it to Toka. Toka takes the phone and begins typing. "Here. My name is Toka don't forget."

"Oh ok my names Evan."

"I gotta go Evan so see you later."

"Wait! Where are you going?"

Toka turns to look at Evan once more "I'm going somewhere dangerous. A little kitten has no business going." He turns around and keeps walking.

"Stop calling me kitten! My name is Evan!" 

Toka laughs and continues to leave. Evan thought it would be the last time he would meet with me again but we ended up meeting the very next day.

*The next day* 

I was ditching school again like I did on most days. It wasn't really anything new going on. It was a sunny day, a perfect day to go to the beach. I didn't really have friends so I was planning on going alone.

I saw Evan sitting outside alone, crying. I unconsciously went over to him. I pinched his face.

"Why the long face kitten?"

Evan looks up at me. His face was red from the crying. His eyes were puffy, his nose was all snotty. I couldn't help but laugh. "Pfft hahaha… You should see your face." I look at him and see how pitiful and sad he looks. I start to feel a pain in my chest. Why do I feel this way?

"Hey I'm sorry that was very rude" I put my hand on his head and rub it. "I'm not really good with tending to people's feelings I never have been.

Evan grabs me and hugs me tightly. I couldn't push him off. It felt weird. This feels like something new to me.

"Hey I'm going to the beach right now. Your welcome to come might make you feel better."

Evan let's go. "Sorry I got tears on your shirt." He tries to wipe it with his jacket. "It's fine. I was gonna end up taking it off anyway."

Toka grabs Evan's hand. "You wanna go have some fun?"
