Her Cold Eyes!
Silverbrook High buzzed as students flooded in, but the moment Raven Quinn walked through the gate, time seemed to pause. Heads turned. Conversations halted. Even the air shifted. At "17" , with piercing green eyes and hair like midnight silk, she was impossible to ignore.
But it wasn’t just her looks—it was her presence. Cold. Untouchable. Like she had seen the world, been broken by it, and built herself back into something steel.
Raven walked with purpose. She wasn’t new to Silverbrook. She had been here since she was ten, dropped into this town like a ghost in someone else’s story.
Her boots echoed down the hallway—until a familiar voice slithered into her ears.
“Well, if it isn’t Ice Queen Raven,” Tasha Daniels purred. Flanked by Kerry and Georgia, she wore her smugness like a designer bag.
Raven didn’t stop walking. “Move.”
Tasha stepped directly into her path. “Aw, don’t be so cold. We left you a little welcome gift.”
Raven’s eyes narrowed.
Turning toward her locker, her stomach twisted—banana peels, slime, wrappers. Her locker was smeared like a dumpster.
A slow breath escaped her lips as memories flashed behind her eyes— Nine years ago. Screams. Blood. Her parents’ screams and being murdered in front of her, the look in her mother's eyes. Her own terrified 9-year old self hiding, powerless. Her hands clenched. After the tragedy, her and distant uncle --- a man with secrets of his own sent her to Silverbrook, far from everything she once knew, he rarely checks on her.It ends with her uncle's voice:" You have to be strong now, Raven". She had buried the past deeply ..........
She held the locket around her neck firmly- it was given to her by her parents.
Tasha’s voice rang behind her, feigning innocence. “Oops. Looks like the garbage missed the bin and found its own kind.”
Kerry giggled. Georgia smirked.
Raven turned, eyes sharp as blades. “Wow. That must’ve taken real effort, Tasha. I didn’t know you could do anything without a script.”
Tasha’s smile faltered.
Raven stepped forward, lifted her water bottle—and *poured it all over* Tasha’s shoes and blouse in one sharp motion. The girl shrieked as cold water soaked her expensive fit.
Gasps echoed.
Raven tilted her head, deadly calm. “Consider that payment. We’re even now.”
Tasha’s eyes blazed, too shocked to speak.
Raven stepped back with a scoff. “Next time, keep your trash where it belongs. Far from me.” She made a mental note to request for a locker change.
She walked away, not sparing another glance.
In class, Maya glanced up as Raven sat beside her.
“Whoa. You look like you just fought a dragon.”
Raven shrugged, wiping her hands. “Tasha. She’s been busy.”
Maya blinked. “What’d she do this time?”
“Let’s just say... she brought garbage. And I returned it—liquid edition.”
Maya grinned, shaking her head. “One day, that girl’s gonna lose her mind trying to get to you.”
Raven smirked. “Let her try.”
