The next morning, Aurora Creamery opened earlier than usual.
Arin Kael had barely slept.
The small shop was silent, the only sound coming from the machines behind the counter. Normally, he enjoyed the quiet. It gave him time to think, to experiment, to chase the impossible dream that had followed him for years.
But today was different.
Today, someone was coming to him for a miracle.
And Arin wasn’t sure he could give one.
He stood in front of the freezer, staring at the golden jar hidden inside.
A small amount of the ingredient remained.
The Essence Bloom.
A rare plant that only grew in areas untouched by technology. According to old records, it contained a unique energy that could repair damaged cells and restore the body’s natural balance.
Scientists called it useless.
Ancient healers called it a blessing.
Arin called it his last hope.
He carefully removed the jar and placed it on the counter.
“Come on,” he whispered. “Work this time.”
He began preparing the mixture.
Cream.
Sugar.
The essence.
A few drops of moonflower nectar.
Everything had to be perfect.
One mistake could destroy the entire recipe.
Arin watched the mixture spin inside the machine, his heartbeat matching its rhythm.
For years, he had tried hundreds of combinations.
Every failure taught him something.
Every mistake brought him closer.
But this time...
Someone’s life depended on it.
The bell above the door rang.
Arin looked up.
The same boy from yesterday entered, but this time he wasn’t alone.
A girl followed behind him.
She looked around eleven years old.
Her skin was pale, and she held onto her brother’s arm for support.
“This is my sister,” the boy said.
Arin stepped closer.
“What’s her name?”
The girl gave a weak smile.
“Lina.”
Arin noticed the faint blue marks along her hands.
A sign of Crystal Fever.
A disease that even the best hospitals struggled to treat.
His expression darkened.
It was worse than he expected.
The boy looked at him nervously.
“Can you help her?”
Arin didn’t answer immediately.
Because for the first time, he wasn’t just experimenting.
He wasn’t trying to prove himself.
He was holding someone’s future in his hands.
Finally, he nodded.
“I’ll do everything I can.”
He placed the finished ice cream into a small glass bowl.
Unlike ordinary ice cream, this one shimmered softly.
A golden glow moved through the creamy surface like sunlight trapped inside.
The girl stared at it.
“It’s beautiful.”
Arin smiled faintly.
“My mother used to say beautiful things always carry a little bit of hope.”
The girl picked up the spoon.
She hesitated.
Then she took the first bite.
Nothing happened.
One second.
Two.
Three.
Arin held his breath.
The boy looked worried.
“Is something wrong?”
Arin didn’t respond.
He was watching.
Waiting.
Then—
The glow inside the ice cream disappeared.
And the glow returned to the girl.
Her breathing became steady.
The blue marks on her hands slowly faded.
Her tired eyes became brighter.
She stood straighter.
The room went completely silent.
“Lina?” her brother whispered.
The girl looked at him.
Her voice was stronger.
“I feel…”
She touched her chest.
“I feel normal.”
The boy froze.
Then tears filled his eyes.
“She’s better?”
Arin walked closer and scanned her with his small medical device.
The results appeared.
He stared.
Impossible.
The disease markers were disappearing.
Not slowing.
Not weakening.
Disappearing.
Arin’s hands trembled.
After all these years...
He had finally done it.
A cure.
A real cure.
His dream wasn’t impossible.
But before he could celebrate, something else happened.
A small red light blinked on his wall.
Arin’s smile vanished.
The shop’s old security system had activated.
That wasn’t supposed to happen.
He walked toward the screen.
A message appeared.
HEALING ENERGY DETECTED.
Arin’s blood ran cold.
Another message followed.
SOURCE IDENTIFIED: AURORA CREAMERY.
The screen flickered.
Then a symbol appeared.
A silver tower surrounded by a circle.
The symbol of the most powerful organization in Eryndor.
The Pharma Guild.
Arin stared at it.
They knew.
Somewhere high above the city, inside the largest medical tower in the world, an alarm had started.
A scientist looked at the data with disbelief.
“Impossible.”
A second person turned.
“What is it?”
The scientist enlarged the reading.
A healing signature.
Natural.
Powerful.
Unknown.
“There’s something in the lower district.”
The room became silent.
Then a cold voice spoke.
“Find it.”
The scientist looked toward the speaker.
“Sir?”
The man in the white coat smiled.
A smile without warmth.
“Whatever created this…”
He looked at the image of Aurora Creamery.
“Bring it to me.”
---
Back in the shop, Arin looked at Lina and her brother.
They were smiling.
A miracle had happened.
But Arin already understood the truth.
The moment he created something that could cure the world...
The world would come looking for it.
And not everyone would come with good intentions.
