My Handsome Mafia

Chapter 1 – The Devil in the Shadows

Chapter 1 – The Devil in the Shadows

The city never slept. Neon lights flickered across rain-soaked streets, and behind every corner lurked whispers of power, money, and death. Tonight, the whispers belonged to one man—Xayn.

He entered the nightclub like a storm in a tailored black suit, his presence cutting through the heavy bass and smoke-filled air. Men straightened at his approach, women gasped under their breath, and the entire room seemed to bend around him. Handsome didn’t begin to describe him. Xayn was carved from danger itself—sharp jaw, piercing dark eyes, and the kind of smile that promised either sin or death.

From the bar, [Heroine’s Name] watched him. She had no reason to be here except a reckless dare and the ache of curiosity. She’d heard stories of the man who ruled the underworld—stories soaked in blood and fear. But seeing him in person was nothing like the rumors. He was magnetic, terrifying… beautiful.

Her gaze lingered too long.

And Xayn noticed.

His eyes locked on hers across the crowded room. For a moment, everything else disappeared—the music, the voices, the smoke. It was as if he’d stripped her bare with a single look, peeling away every wall she thought she had. Her heart pounded. She should look away. She should run.

But she didn’t.

Instead, she lifted her chin, challenging him without a word.

Xayn’s lips curved into the faintest smirk. Dangerous. Predatory. Promising. He moved, parting the crowd with the weight of his power, each step deliberate, each step drawing him closer.

By the time he reached her, the air was suffocating. His cologne—dark, intoxicating—wrapped around her like chains. He leaned close, his voice low enough that only she could hear.

“You’ve been staring,” he murmured, his tone smooth as silk but edged with threat. “Tell me, angel… are you brave? Or just foolish?”

Her breath caught, her pulse racing. She had stepped into the devil’s world—and Xayn had no intention of letting her go.

Marked by the Devil

The weight of his gaze pinned her in place. Her breath trembled, caught between fear and something far more dangerous—desire.

“I asked you a question,” Xayn said softly, though his tone carried the weight of a command. “Are you brave… or foolish?”

Her lips parted. Words struggled to form. “Maybe both.”

The corner of his mouth curved, not in amusement but in something darker. “I like both.”

Before she could process the meaning, a sudden disturbance shattered the moment. Across the room, glass broke, shouts erupted. A group of armed men stormed in—rivals. The air shifted instantly from seduction to bloodshed.

Xayn didn’t flinch. He simply turned his head, eyes narrowing. The men froze for a second too long, intimidated by the devil himself. And then, chaos.

Gunfire cracked through the club. Screams filled the air as people ducked for cover. She froze in terror, but Xayn’s hand was suddenly on her wrist—strong, unyielding.

“Stay down,” he growled, pulling her behind the bar just as bullets tore into the walls. He drew his gun in one swift, practiced motion, and the darkness in his eyes came alive. No longer just handsome, no longer just magnetic—Xayn was death incarnate.

She watched, trembling, as he fired with precision, each shot clean, lethal. Bodies dropped. Blood painted the floor. The club had become a battlefield, and yet… she couldn’t look away from him.

When the last rival fell, silence swallowed the chaos. Xayn stood tall, chest heaving, his suit stained with another man’s blood. Slowly, he turned to her.

His hand, still gripping his weapon, brushed her cheek instead—an odd contradiction of violence and tenderness. “Now you see,” he whispered. “This is my world. If you stay in it, angel… there’s no way back.”

Her heart thundered. She should run. She should scream. But instead, she whispered back—soft, trembling, yet defiant:

“Then maybe I don’t want to go back.”

Xayn’s smirk returned, sharper this time. Dangerous. Possessive. He leaned closer, his lips barely grazing her ear.

– The Devil’s Claim

The club still reeked of blood and smoke when Xayn took her hand. His grip was firm, not asking but commanding. She stumbled after him, her pulse still racing from the gunfire.

“Where are we going?” she asked breathlessly.

“Somewhere safe.” His tone left no room for argument.

But safety wasn’t what she felt when he led her through a private door and into the back corridors. The hallways were dimly lit, the walls lined with shadows. Everywhere he went, men stepped aside, bowing their heads in silent respect—or fear.

Xayn didn’t slow until they reached his private suite above the club. He pushed the door open, guiding her inside. The room was a contrast to the chaos below: dark leather, crystal glasses, and a massive window overlooking the city. A king’s den.

She turned to face him, her voice trembling. “People just died… and you act like it’s nothing.”

His sharp eyes cut into hers. “Because it is nothing. They were enemies. And in my world, enemies don’t live long.”

Her chest rose and fell, fear colliding with fascination. “And me? What am I to you, Xayn?”

He stepped closer, closing the distance until her back pressed against the cold glass. His hand lifted, tracing her jaw with a touch both gentle and possessive.

“You?” His voice dropped, dangerous and intoxicating. “You’re the mistake I shouldn’t want. The distraction I should burn out of my system. But instead…” His thumb brushed her lower lip. “I’m going to keep you.”

Her breath hitched. The room seemed to shrink around them, charged with a heat she couldn’t fight. His eyes burned into hers, promising ruin.

“You don’t get to walk away now, angel,” Xayn whispered. “The moment you looked at me like that, you became mine.”

The words were both a warning and a vow. And when his lips finally crashed against hers—hungry, demanding, consuming—she realized he wasn’t asking for her consent. He was claiming it.

And worse… she let him.
