The evening sun painted the streets in gold as Caleb spotted Callisto heading toward his sleek black car. Heart racing, Caleb grabbed his skateboard. Destiny’s giving me another chance… I can’t waste it.
He skated down recklessly, trying to catch up, and crashed dramatically near the car. Dust flew, skateboard skidding to a stop inches from the tires.
Callisto stormed out of his car, towering over Caleb, eyes sharp and piercing.
Are you f*cking crazy? Do you want to die or what?!” he barked.
Caleb, cheeks flaming, grinned nervbalanceWe… we meet again… wow. Sorry about that—I lost my balance…
Callisto pinched the bridge of his nose. “Tch… who are you, kid? I don’t remember seeing you before.”
Caleb’s grin widened. You don’t remember? We almost crashed into each other a few days ago!
Callisto’s sharp gaze softened into a scowl. “You’re that reckless kiddo? Well, kiddo… if you want to die, then find someone else’s car. Stop trying to die in front of mine!”
Caleb laughed, flustered. “So mean…”
Trying to salvage the moment, Caleb asked shyly, “Uh… can I… know your name?”
Callisto didn’t answer. He simply got back into his car, started the engine, and drove off, leaving Caleb standing there, heart pounding, cheeks flushed, and completely smitten.
Max, who had been hiding nearby, groaned. “You are insane. Absolutely insane.”
Caleb just grinned after watching Callisto disappear down the street. Grumpy, intimidating… and perfect. Destiny really is on my side.
After Callisto’s car disappeared down the street, Caleb leaned on his skateboard, cheeks still burning.
“Ugh… why is he so… perfect?!” Caleb muttered under his breath.
Max groaned, dragging Caleb away. “Come on, Mr. Lover Boy. You’re obsessing too hard. Let’s hit the skate park before you start planning a second suicide attempt in front of another car.”
Caleb rolled his eyes but followed, his skateboard under his arm. “Yeah… yeah… I just… need to clear my head. Can’t stop thinking about him.”
The streets were quiet as they skated toward the local park. The sound of wheels against pavement and the wind rushing past helped Caleb focus… at least a little. He tried tricks, ollies, and flips, all while Max practiced nearby, occasionally laughing at Caleb’s clumsy attempts.
“Come on, you were supposed to be good at this!” Max called, executing a perfect grind.
Caleb huffed, frustrated, but couldn’t help glancing up every now and then, imagining what Callisto would think if he saw him now—flailing around on a skateboard. Would he scold me? Or… laugh? No… he wouldn’t laugh… he’s too grumpy…
Max noticed Caleb spacing out mid-trick. “Earth to Caleb! You’re staring at nothing again. Who’s haunting your brain now?”
Caleb smirked sheepishly. “Uh… just… someone I’m destined to meet again. Don’t worry about it.”
Max groaned, shaking his head. “Destiny again? Man… you’re hopeless. But fine, keep dreaming, Mr. Lover Boy. Just don’t wipe out in front of anyone important.”
Caleb laughed, feeling slightly better as he skated. The park, the tricks, and Max’s endless teasing helped him push Callisto to the back of his mind… for now. But deep down, he knew this was only the beginning.
Destiny wasn’t done with us yet… Caleb thought, gripping his skateboard tighter.
