...Chapter 4: Da Shixiong and Xiao Shimei...
...----------------...
The Tian Xin Sect 's library was like a sea that accepted a hundred rivers.
The East and West Pavilion held more than ten thousand books on the first
floor alone. The way the books were displayed were like what You XiaoMo
expected. Tens upon hundreds of bookshelves with all sorts of books
separated by category, with clear signs.
You XiaoMo sighed heavily and shook his head. Perhaps it was because the
history of the Long Xiang Continent was too long, so he walked past
several bookshelves divided by widely ranging time periods. Some were
from ten thousand years ago, whereas some were from five thousand years
ago ... You XiaoMo had no interest in the Long Xiang Continent’s history
from long ago. What he needed to understand was the Long Xiang
Continent of today.
Walking to the last bookshelf, You XiaoMo finally caught sight of a label at
the top of the shelf: Geography of the Long Xiang Continent!
Standing on tiptoe , You XiaoMo reached up for a book when suddenly his
outstretched hand hit something. A sudden electric shock caused him to
immediately retract his hand, crying out in alarm. This unexpected event
scared him half to death because it was so supernatural . Calming down, he
reminded himself that he was now in the dimension of the Long Xiang
Continent, so he must adapt to these strange occurrences if he was to
survive here. Thinking further, You XiaoMo took out the seal-like object
from his chest pocket. The very thing that was thrown at him by the old
man guarding the library.
The clueless You Xiao Mo could only raise the seal to the bookshelf. In the
end, it looked like he had guessed right. The dark black seal gave out a
sudden flash of light, followed by a shift in the atmosphere. The seal pushed
towards both sides of the bookshelf, raising a few ripples. You XiaoMo
tentatively tapped the area a few times and after not feeling the electricshock, realized that he had succeeded. Quickly, You XiaoMo took down a
book from the bookshelf, and then brought down several books as fast as he
was able. He tried to grab mostly basic knowledge of the Long Xiang
Continent, bringing them down with him to take a look.
You XiaoMo found a little corner and sat down, picking up the top-most
book. Just when he was about to digest the contents, a taunting laugh came
from above his head. You XiaoMo quickly looked up to see a young man
dressed in a white robe sitting on a roof beam. Seeing You XiaoMo look up
at him, he grinned and leaped down, looking at You XiaoMo with scrutiny
and mockery. Obviously he had seen all of You XiaoMo's actions from
above.
He clicked his tongue, " Really, where did this country bumpkin come
from."
The young man circled around him, talking and showing extreme disdain.
You XiaoMo blinked but still felt that what he said was not without reason.
The him now was just like a village folk entering a big city. Who would
have guessed that seeing the lack of reaction from You XiaoMo, the young
man actually became displeased.
"Country Bumpkin, if you want to read, get away from here. By blocking
the passageway to the second floor, don't tell me you're hoping to get close
to Da Shixiong and Xiao Shimei. Let me tell you, you are unworthy no
matter what."
You XiaoMo stayed silent for a moment before getting up and brushing the
dirt off his butt. He went off obediently to find another spot. Seeing him act
so sensibly, the young man lost interest, and left with a grunt. Seeing him
leave, You XiaoMo heaved a sigh of relief. Who would have thought that
just coming to the library to look for books would result in him meeting
someone that loved to pick fights for nothing. He had never heard of Da
Shixiong or Xiao Shimei, let alone trying to get close to them.
But he never imagined that the random corner he chose would actually be
the passageway to the second floor. This library really had an ingenious architecture, not showing even a hint of the stairway. After uttering a few
curses, You XiaoMo finally calmed down and started to read his books.
Soon he discovered that the Long Xiang Continent was an extremely vast
land, several hundred and thousand times bigger than the Earth of his
previous existence. Furthermore, it was a continuous piece, but it appeared
to be more primitive compared to Earth. Continuous uninterrupted
mountain ranges, forests as far as the eye could see.
Most importantly this dimension was devoid of science and technology.
What it had were God defying practitioners. According to the historical
records, the Long Xiang Continent was not the only land in this dimension.
For example, across the endless seas, there was another world, and even in
the outer void, there were many other places. However, these books only
contained a few paltry sentences on those places, with no further
descriptions.
After two hours, You XiaoMo was more or less finished with the books,
having a rough idea of the Long Xiang Continent. After returning the
books, You XiaoMo stretched his stiff back. Just when he was about to
leave, he felt a slight vibration from behind. Turning around, he saw two
figures appearing out of thin air from the first corner where he was sitting.
A male and a female, presumably the Da Shixiong and Shimei that the
young man was talking about.
Da Shixiong had a handsome appearance with chiseled features, giving off
a look of maturity, stability and confidence at a glance. His somewhat cold
and thin lips were lightly pressed together. Without looking left or right he
headed straight out of the library. The celestial looking Shimei lightly
stamped her foot and chased after him, both seemingly unaware of You
XiaoMo's existence.
After coming out of the building, You XiaoMo took note of the color of the
sky. Feeling that it was still early, he headed to the East Pavilion. Due to the
fact that there were too many things he wanted to read, You XiaoMo
decided to take the books back to his room. Two books on medicinal herbs
and the other two on medical formulas, each of the most basic level.
