Lost Memories

Just then, Obelia feels something is wrong. A strange heaviness settles in her chest.

“Why… why can’t I speak properly? What is happening to my voice? Did that woman… did she cast some kind of spell on me?”

Her heartbeat speeds up as panic rises inside her. She lifts her hands — and freezes.

Her hands… were tiny. Small, soft, childlike.

“No… no, no, this can’t be true. This is impossible!”

Her voice trembles as she whispers to herself,

“Did that woman actually use the formation to transfer my soul into someone else’s body? Into this child’s body?”

For a moment, the shock is so deep that she can’t even breathe.

“Alright… forget all this. I need to think clearly.”

She looks around the tiny wooden house in the middle of the forest.

“But who would leave a small child all alone here? In the middle of a jungle? What kind of people do that?”

She tries to turn her neck a little, just to understand her surroundings better, and suddenly—

She notices three foxes sitting silently right next to her.

All three are staring at her with soft, warm eyes… as if waiting for her to wake up properly.

“What are you three doing here?” Obelia whispers.

“And why are you sitting so close? Fine… you stay here, I’m leaving from this place—”

Before she can stand up, the purple fox jumps down from the bed and, in an instant, transforms into a human girl with long hair and bright violet eyes.

“Stop acting so dramatic,” the girl says, folding her arms.

“You really don’t recognize us? Are you pretending?”

Obelia’s eyes widen. “N–No! Why would I pretend?”

The girl sighs as if she had expected this.

“Fine, let me introduce myself again. I’m Zuru.”

Then she points toward the pink fox, who also transforms — into a soft-looking girl with warm pinkish hair.

“And she is Ruru.”

Zuru continues, “Lady Celestia gave us to you in your first life. Now do you remember anything?”

Obelia’s mind goes blank for a moment. Old memories, buried deep inside her soul, suddenly begin to surface.

Her lips tremble.

“One… one second… You both… where have you been all these years?”

The realization hits her too fast, too painfully, and she suddenly breaks down.

Her small child-body shakes as she cries loudly.

“Where did you both go? Do you know how much I searched for you? How many nights I cried thinking I lost you forever?”

Zuru and Ruru both sit beside her quietly, letting her cry, as if they understand every drop of pain.

Then the truth unfolds.

These two fox beasts were given to Obelia — when she was Lenore in her first life — by her mother just before death. They were her protectors, her emotional support, her family.

But when Lenore entered the dungeon a few years later, the two fox beasts suddenly vanished without a trace.

Lenore searched everywhere, fought monsters, questioned people, but no one ever found them. And shortly after that… Lenore herself died too.

In her new life as Princess Obelia, she tried again to find them. She looked in every possible place, used magic, hired investigators — but nothing. Eventually, she accepted that they were gone forever. That maybe fate did not want them reunited.

But now… after so many years, when Obelia’s soul finally finds them again —

They have grown so much, matured so much, that Obelia didn’t even recognize them at first sight.

Yet her heart… her soul… remembered them.

And for the first time in years, she wasn’t alone anymore.
