...Days later...
"Sarah, are you sure about the decision you're making?" Emilia questioned Sarah's choice to return to New York and meet with Miguel.
"I'm completely sure about this decision. I've thought it over again and again, and it's time for Miguel to know his children."
Sarah finished packing her son Marcelo's luggage.
Emilia let out a sigh. She didn't agree with Sarah's decision. So all she could say was:
"I hope you're not making a mistake this time... I know you, and I know you're not just going back for the children -- you're going back for yourself too. You still haven't been able to erase him from your heart."
Sarah stopped and lowered her gaze. She had tried to stop loving Miguel.
She had tried to forget him, to turn the love she felt into hatred, but no matter how hard she tried to hate him, the love she felt for him was simply too intense.
She still remembered the day Miguel had made her breakfast and helped her with her work. To most women, it might have seemed like nothing, but for Sarah, that day had been the most perfect of all.
"See, Sarah? You can't even hide it the slightest bit -- you're still in love with him."
"That's enough, Emilia."
"I don't want to talk about this anymore." Sarah pushed past Emilia and went to get the suitcase to pack her daughter Diana's things.
"Since you don't want to listen to me, I'm leaving," Emilia said.
"Okay..." Sarah whispered.
Without another word, Emilia left the children's room. She said goodbye to them and walked out of Sarah's house.
Once she was alone, Sarah couldn't help but cry. Everything Emilia had said was true. She was only going back to New York to reunite with Miguel.
She was still in love with him -- desperately so. After crying for a while, Sarah finished packing the luggage and went out to see her children.
"Mommy, where are we going? Auntie Emilia looked angry," Marcelo said.
Sarah went and sat down beside her children, opening her arms with love.
"Auntie Emilia got mad at me because I did something wrong," Sarah murmured.
"Mommy, stop making Auntie upset," Marcelo said.
Sarah hugged them both, forcing a smile.
"Let's get to bed. We're going on a trip tomorrow." Sarah stood up from the sofa and carried her children to bed.
After tucking them in, she went to work for a while. She was planning to propose a business deal to Antonio Madrigal, her former boss.
Sarah didn't just want to see Miguel -- she also wanted to grow her company, and there was no better partner than Antonio.
Antonio was renowned for his influence and his extraordinary talent for making any company thrive. Simply having him as a partner had turned her company into one of the most important on the global stage.
Antonio was working when he suddenly received an email from a company called "Harry Chey."
Although the company name didn't ring a bell, Antonio opened the email, only to discover it was from an Italian firm.
After reading a bit, Antonio raised his eyebrows. He initiated a direct video call. When Sarah saw that Antonio had accepted and started the call, she was overjoyed.
After five years, she would be face to face with her former boss again -- the man who had unwittingly taught her how to run a company.
Sarah accepted the link, coming face to face with Antonio on screen. When Antonio saw that the CEO of "Harry Chey" was his former secretary, he couldn't believe it.
"Good evening, Mr. Madrigal. Allow me to introduce myself -- Sarah Gonzales Paramo, President of the Harry Chey Group. It is an honor that you received my proposal and gave me the opportunity to speak with you through this medium."
Antonio was stunned for a moment. Sarah's physical transformation had taken him completely by surprise.
Nothing remained of the girl who had worked for him five years ago. Sarah had become an entirely different person -- even the way she spoke had changed.
"Sarah, is it really you?" Antonio couldn't help but ask, brimming with curiosity.
"It's me, Mr. Madrigal. It's wonderful to see you again," Sarah answered, forcing a nervous smile.
"From what I understand, you now own a small company," Antonio murmured.
"Yes, Mr. Madrigal. And I'd like for us to discuss business," Sarah said.
Antonio raised his eyebrows. His best pupil had become a true master. Sarah had learned a great deal from him during the time she had worked for him.
"Of course, but not over a call. If you want to talk business, it has to be in person."
Antonio had an idea. If Sarah wanted to do business with him, she would have to come back to the city. Once there, she could run into Miguel and clear up the misunderstanding from five years ago.
"That works perfectly, Mr. Madrigal. Just let me know the day and time you can see me at your office."
Antonio couldn't help but feel happy about Sarah's decision to return. It was exactly what Miguel needed right now. He wanted to see the look on his friend's face when he came face to face with the only woman he had ever loved.
"My secretary will reach out to you. She'll let you know the day and time I'm available."
"Very well, Mr. Madrigal. I appreciate you taking the time. It was truly an honor to have worked for you."
Sarah was about to end the video call when Diana suddenly came out of her room.
"Mommy, can you come? Marcelo is having nightmares."
Antonio saw and clearly heard what the little girl said. Diana bore a striking resemblance to Miguel, though she had inherited some of Sarah's features as well.
Flustered, Sarah ended the call. It wasn't time yet for Antonio to know about her children.
But Antonio was no fool. He quickly realized that Sarah hadn't had an abortion, as Miguel had believed all these years.
Sarah didn't have one child by his best friend -- she had two. Overcome with surprise, Antonio broke into a smile. He couldn't wait to see the look on Miguel's face when he found out he was the father of two children.
Especially when he had sworn he would never be a father.
