SIGN-IN TO BECOME GOD

SIGN-IN TO BECOME GOD

CHAPTER 1: The First Sign-In

The night was soaked in thunder.

Mount Qinglan’s sky bled with storm clouds, each flash of lightning splitting the heavens like an angry god’s roar. Rain fell in relentless sheets, flooding the cracked stones of the Qinglan Outer Sect courtyard. Amid the chaos stood a lone figure—barefoot, blood-soaked, and barely alive.

Li Yan’s chest rose and fell in ragged breaths. His vision blurred, but the pale outlines of armored disciples surrounding him remained unmistakable. They had once been his brothers. Now their eyes burned with greed.

“Li Yan,” drawled Elder Zhou, stepping forward through the rain. His golden robe shimmered faintly beneath the storm light, spiritual energy rippling around him. “Hand over your master’s inheritance, and maybe I’ll let you keep your miserable life.”

Li Yan steadied himself against the ruined gatepost. His arm burned where a sword gash dripped crimson onto the stones, but his gaze remained fierce. “My master’s inheritance,” he rasped, “was never meant… for cowards like you.”

A cruel smile twisted Zhou’s lips. “Then you can die with it.”

The disciples encircled him, blades glowing faintly with blue qi. They advanced step by step. Li Yan gritted his teeth, reaching into his torn robe. His fingers brushed against a small bronze token—the only thing his master ever gave him. It bore strange runes shaped like lightning trapped mid-strike. The day he received it, his master said, “When your conviction surpasses despair, this token will answer.”

“Let’s see if you can answer now,” Li Yan muttered under his breath.

He gripped the token so tightly his knuckles turned white.

The courtyard exploded in light.

Thunder screamed as if the heavens themselves took offense. A spear of lightning split the skies and struck the courtyard, tearing through stone, flesh, and bone. The world became a swirl of silver flames and shattered screams.

Then—silence.

When Li Yan’s consciousness returned, the storm was gone. The rain had stopped. The world was a dim void filled with shimmering motes of light drifting lazily in every direction, infinite and silent. He stood on nothing, yet he did not fall.

His pulse quickened. “Where… am I?”

A voice, neither human nor divine, yet echoing in ancient cadence, spoke inside his mind.

[Initializing Sign-In System.]

Li Yan froze.

[Host detected.]

[First Sign-In Location: Mount Qinglan—The Descent Point. Reward: Fragment of Divine Essence + One-Time Healing Pill.]

A surge of warmth enveloped him, flowing through every inch of his body like molten light. The pain disappeared instantly. His wound vanished, replaced by a clarity so pure that his spirit trembled. His dantian swelled with energy, and his cultivation root—which had been crippled a year ago—reignited.

He gasped, falling to his knees. Divine energy… this is real…

The bronze token floated before him, now glowing softly, its edges lined in celestial gold.

“Sign-In System,” he whispered, tasting each word as if it were forbidden. “What are you?”

[Daily Sign-Ins permitted once every twenty-four hours. Each sign-in location resonates with different levels of divine essence.]

[Warning: Sign-In points may be occupied or guarded by higher entities.]

The words etched themselves into his mind like commandments. Slowly, a golden script appeared before his eyes:

[Choose Your Path:]

[1. Continue the Path of Mortals.]

[2. Begin the Ascent to Godhood.]

Li Yan stared at the glowing letters for a long time. The mortal path had given him only betrayal, mockery, and loss. The sect he protected slaughtered his master and branded him a cripple. Now they wanted to strip even his last memory.

His fingers tightened. The air around him began to hum, the faint pulse of awakening power trembling through space.

His choice had already been made the moment lightning struck.

With a voice trembling between awe and defiance, he said, “System… I choose godhood.”

The light flared. The void quaked. Stars flickered, then bent toward him as though bowing to a newborn sun. Somewhere beyond the farthest realm, something ancient opened an eye—and the heavens whispered his name for the first time.

Li Yan, the Mortal who Signed In Against Heaven.

And thus, the story of the first human to defy the divine began beneath a storm that refused to die.
