Elias’s POV
I don’t remember the walk home.
I don’t remember the streets, the streetlights, the way the night air cut against my skin. I don’t remember passing people, or cars, or sounds. It was as if my mind had shut down everything unnecessary, leaving only one thing behind
Pain.
All I remember is the sound of my heartbeat.
Heavy.
Loud.
Furious.
It pounded in my ears like war drums, each beat screaming the same truth over and over again.
You were fooled.
You were used.
You were never chosen.
I entered the house, yhe door slammed behind me with a force I didn’t realize I had. The echo rang through the house, sharp and violent, bouncing off walls that had never once protected me.
And then I saw him.
Alex.
Sitting in the living room like he belonged there. Like he always did. His hair was perfectly in place, his posture relaxed, his expression soft ,almost gentle.
Almost kind.
“Hey, Elias,” he said easily. “You’re back early...”
He smiled.
That smile.
The one people adored.
The one teachers melted for.
The one Max had kissed with love in his eyes.
The same smile that had ruined me.
Something inside my chest shattered completely.
It wasn’t a crack this time. It wasn’t a quiet breaking I could hide and swallow like I always had. It was violent. Explosive. Final.
My vision tunneled until the room disappeared, until there was nothing left but his face.
All the years of silence surged forward at once.
Being ignored.
Being second.
Being less.
The whispered comparisons.
The stolen glances.
The way love had always passed me by to land in his hands.
The tears I swallowed as a child.
The loneliness I learned to live with.
The belief that I was born to stand behind him forever.
And then Max.
Max’s hands.
Max’s lips.
Max’s lies.
Before I even realized I had moved, my arm was already in the air.
The slap landed with a sound so loud it seemed to split the world in two.
CRACK.
Alex staggered backward, disbelief flashing across his perfect face before he lost his balance and hit the floor hard. The golden boy everyone’s precious omega was on the ground, stunned, silent.
The house froze.
So did time.
I stared at my hand.
It was trembling.
Red.
Real.
I did that.
Alex slowly looked up at me, fingers brushing his cheek as if he couldn’t quite believe what had happened. His eyes were wide not with anger, not with hatred
But with horror.
“Elias…” he whispered. “What..?”
My body shook violently now, but it wasn’t fear.
It was power.
For the first time in my life, I wasn’t shrinking into myself. I wasn’t apologizing before anyone accused me. I wasn’t stepping aside to make room for him.
I stood over him.
“You knew,” I said. My voice didn’t sound like mine anymore. It was rough. Broken. Raw. “You knew the whole time.”
He swallowed.
“Every look,” I continued, my words shaking as they spilled out. “Every touch. Every lie.” A laugh tore out of me, hollow and jagged. “Was it fun? Watching me believe I was wanted?”
“I never meant for it to go so far,” he said quickly, scrambling to sit up. “Max and I,we were already together, yes, but..”
“But you let him touch me,” I cut in sharply.
My voice rose, cracking like glass under pressure.
“You let him kiss me. You let him hold my hand. You let him take everything from me” My chest burned. “While you stood there and waited for him to come back to you.”
Tears blurred my vision, hot and furious, but I refused to let them fall. I would not cry in front of him. Not now. Not ever again.
“I gave him my heart,” I whispered, stepping back as if Alex’s presence poisoned the air. “I gave him my body… and you both knew it was a lie.”
Alex pushed himself up, reaching out instinctively.
“Elias..”
I flinched violently, my skin crawling as if he had reached for me with fire.
“Don’t touch me,” I hissed. “Don’t even look at me.”
He froze.
The silence that followed was suffocating. Thick. Heavy. It pressed against my chest until breathing felt like a struggle.
Alex looked smaller like this on the floor, eyes filled with something that almost looked like regret. But it was too late.
Regret didn’t erase what they had done.
And then something strange happened inside me.
The storm didn’t disappear.
But it changed.
The rage, the humiliation, the grief they stopped tearing me apart and began to settle, sinking deeper, forming something dense and dangerous.
A calm.
Slow.
Cold.
Deadly.
For years, I had felt small.
Weak.
Invisible.
Replaceable.
I had lived my life apologizing for existing.
Now?
I felt like a storm finally seen.
I wasn’t the unwanted twin anymore.
I wasn’t the shadow standing quietly behind the light.
I was the one standing.
The pain was still there ,deep, aching, murderous but braided through it was something new. Something dark. Something unfamiliar.
Power.
Broken…
But powerful.
Alex stared up at me, and for the first time in his life, he looked afraid of me.
And I knew, with terrifying certainty, that whatever I had been before this moment was gone forever.
The world would never look at me the same again.
And neither would I.
