Shadows In The Mirror

FADE IN:

EXT. HALE ESTATE – NIGHT

The moon rises above the estate, casting long, silvery shadows across the lawn. The air is still—unnaturally so—as if nature itself holds its breath.

CUT TO:

INT. HALE FAMILY LOUNGE – NIGHT

A fire crackles in the grand fireplace as Victor sits alone, a glass of amber whiskey swirling in his hand. His face is carved from stone—jaw clenched, eyes fixed on the flames.

On the wall behind him: a massive portrait of the Hale family taken ten years ago.

Five figures then.

Four now.

One erased—but not forgotten.

His phone buzzes silently on mahogany table.

A notification:

> **Footage Retrieved — "Project Phoenix" Drive Recovered**

> Location tagged: East Garden Foliage — Human silhouette detected (1 person). Identity unconfirmed.

Victor’s grip tightens around his glass.

He doesn’t flinch.

Doesn’t blink.

Just mutters under breath—

VICTOR

“He wouldn’t be this stupid.”

(pause)

“Or he wants us to know.”

CUT TO:

INT . SECURITY ROOM – CONTINUOUS

Two guards stand at attention over monitors as live feeds cycle through property angles.

Guard #1 zooms into east garden footage—the cloaked figure gone now—but footprints remain in wet soil after last night's rain.

Tracks lead toward cliffs... but then vanish near edge… like vanishing into thin air?

Guard #2 leans forward squinting at another screen—

GUARD #2

“Wait—run thermal again.”

Thermal imaging activates across outer zones…

And there it is—a faint heat signature moving fast

Not outside anymore

Inside

Basement level corridor A7

Near old servant tunnels sealed decades ago

GUARD #2 (whispers)

“That area’s not on blueprints anymore…”

But someone just walked through it

Cut to black:

Only sound—a slow drip… drip… drip…

Like water?

No…

Blood?

DISSOLVE INTO:

INT . LILA’S BEDROOM – LATER THAT NIGHT

Lila lies awake staring at ceiling when suddenly her closet door creaks open by itself? No wind—windows closed

Her heart races

She grabs phone ready to text UNKNOWN NUMBER again

But then—a soft knock

Three taps

Pause

Two more taps

Their childhood signal

Door swings gently—

KAEL steps out from shadows cloak down revealing face fully for first time since return

Lila gasps—not from fear—but shock that he's real standing before her eyes after years believed dead or mad

LILA

“You’re alive…”

Tears flood instantly

“No one told me…”

“I know.”

Voice rough with emotion

“I couldn't reach you until now.”

He kneels beside bed carefully pulling out small drive shaped like vintage film reel

“This has everything,” he says lowly

“The lies”

“The experiments”

“The truth about what they did to me—and why.”

“And Mom?”

“She knew?”

KAEL looks away briefly before meeting her eyes again

“All of it.”

Silence stretches between them

Then softly she asks

“What do we do?”

Kael touches her hand gently —older brother protecting younger sister once more

“We make them watch,” he whispers

“A movie about their own sins."

Pause

"And when they see who I really am…"

Almost smiling

“They won’t look away—they’ll have no choice but to face me."

Outside window lightning flashes without thunder

As if fate just sealed something irreversible
