Selene
We were in the living room. I was busy on my laptop tracking Emmanuel’s location, while Francis was calmly cleaning his sniper.
Then I noticed the sniper pointed straight at me and he was looking at me through the scope.
“What are you doing?” I asked, confused. I mean, who wouldn’t react if a gun was pointed at them?
“Nothing. Just checking if my scope still works,” he said, lowering the gun like it was nothing.
“And?” I asked, still confused. Of all the targets… he tests it on me? Is he insane?
“It still works. My scope never betrays me. You’re still gorgeous,” he said casually before continuing to wipe the sniper.
I choked on my own saliva and looked away. Why would he say that so casually?
My face immediately heated up. Did he say that on purpose?
“Don’t tell me you used that sniper to stalk me before?” I asked. How long has he even been watching me?
“Not really stalking more like catching a glimpse of you. But even without this, I already fell for you… love at first sight,” he said with a grin.
Good grief. Why did I even ask?
My face burned even more. I just hoped he wouldn’t look at me to see how red I was.
“Did you track him already?” he asked and of course, we made eye contact. Perfect timing. I looked back at my laptop.
“Still trying. I already did everything just to locate him but nothing’s showing,” I sighed. I tried another method, and finally information appeared. Took him forever to track.
“He’s in… Spain?” I muttered. What is he even doing there?
“Let me see,” he said, sitting beside me. I pointed at the red dot on the map.
“This guy really loves making our job difficult. Obviously business-related,” he said, rubbing his chin.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “So this is what it looks like working with a veteran?”
“What’s so funny?” he asked, frowning.
“You rubbing your chin you look like some movie detective trying to solve a case,” I said, trying not to laugh.
“Oh wow. Funny,” he laughed sarcastically which only made me laugh harder.
“My bad… so what’s the plan now?” I asked, wiping tears from laughing.
“Book a flight to Spain. Business class,” he said, going back to cleaning his sniper.
“Do you even have money for business class?” I asked. Why business class? Regular seats exist! We’re just flying to Spain, not the moon.
“I do. Do you? Or not?” he shot back.
“What are you implying? That I can’t afford it?” I said. Of course, I can pay. Who does he think I am?
“I was just asking! You asked me first, so I asked back,” he defended.
“Well I thought you were mocking me,” I shrugged. I checked online, but the business class seats were already sold out.
“They’re sold out, so…” I looked at him, hoping he’d suggest another option.
“Wait. I’ll call my friend maybe we can borrow his private plane,” he said, walking outside with his phone.
Minutes later, he came back clearly annoyed.
“He agreed. But there’s a catch.”
“What catch?” I asked.
“He wants to meet you,” he said, brows furrowed.
“And what did you say?”
“Of course I refused. So we’re booking a flight again,” he said proudly.
My jaw dropped.
“Are you out of your mind? That’s our best option,” I said, massaging my temples.
“Well, I already refused,” he said, avoiding my eyes.
I swear, this man will be the death of me.
“Call him again,” I ordered.
“No.”
“One,” I started counting, and he immediately grabbed his phone and stormed outside.
He came back still annoyed. “Happy now?” he said irritably before dropping on the seat.
I sighed. Deeply. For patience. Or else I might really end up in jail.
We’re currently on leave, ordered by our boss, so we can focus entirely on this mission.
Even flying to Spain, she has no idea. I honestly don’t even remember what a day off feels like anymore.
“What’s with your face? Can you stop acting like a kid?” I said.
“And can you stop invalidating my feelings?” he snapped, raising a brow.
Feelings, my ass.
“Oh, you want me to baby you? Wait, I’ll make you some milk,” I said sarcastically.
“What milk? You already have some ready-made,” he smirked eyes dropping to my chest.
I threw the mouse at him. Idiot dodged it.
“Pervert!”
“What? Isn’t it true? Aren’t they artificial?” he asked seriously.
I groaned. “Lord, if this was the mission you warned me about, I would’ve avoided it.”
“But even if they’re artificial… we can still work with that,” he added.
“The audacity you have to say that! I really hate you!” I snapped.
