Chapter 4

After her explanation to the Emperoror, she left the audience with him. The Courtiers and gaurds are visibly shaken. You could slightly hear the whispers of people saying “She spoke to the Emperoror!”. This was said with either fear or awe. However, some nobles questioned her audacity while some others fear offending her.

This only made Selena’s jealousy intensify of Elara, after noticing the shift in power, perception and her attention from the Emperor. So she had began hatching a plan to undermine fl again. She attempted to try to sabotage Elara by pretending to have tripped while holding a tray of holderves. She threw a tray at her, but Elara somehow caught the whole tray that was getting thrown at her, with her hands. The food bounced back on the tray, landing safely.

The chef comes in immediately from a kitchenen door. He went up to her and thanked her deeply for saving the food he and his team had worked hard to made. The chef was in tears. Elara told the chef that it was no big deal all at all, yet the chef still thanked her again. She knew that Selena did it on purpose, that it was all part of her new scheme to besmirch her. Well, too bad because it didn’t work.

Everyone went back to their business, but people talking about out the scene that had just at occurred can be sutlely heard in the background.

Now that she thought about it, she didn’t know why she never noticed Selene’s snake-like tendencies until she poisoned her before she got a second chance. It was more obvious that she realised. She questioned herself if she really is this naive to not ever notice Selena’s obvious, true colours.

She pushed that thought aside and started reflecting on what happened in the town where that man got taken away. Also how the Emperoror acted earlier today. Everyone seemed to fear him so much like he’s theirr biggest fear or something. He didn’t seem that scary to her. Acording to Elara’s thoughts, he just seemed serious, but not frightening as other people let on. But of course other people think otherwise.

As she moved around one the court the nobles, dukes, servants and guards. She recognised who fears the emperor the most From observingng peoplele’s stance, expressions and actions. She had figure out who might be manipulated by Selene. Then she spots Selene interacting with other fellow nobles. She clearly is pretending politeness, but is actually scheming something.

Other than that, Elara decided to study some court politics, which she thought might be in handy in the future. So as she got home with her father and Selena, she prompted started studying. She had to find away to protect her family too. Court politics can only get you so far. Protecting her family was at the top of her priorities. Only after that was taking revenge on Selene. Selene was definitely planning something, it’s like she could feel it in here bones.
