“The Game Begins”

The morning sun barely pierced through the thick curtains of the Jeon mansion. The storm from last night had left the city slick and glistening, reflecting the cold glint of skyscrapers and the distant hum of traffic.

Taehyung sat at the edge of his bed, hands clasped together, heart still racing. Three years ago, he had died at this very mansion, in front of the man he loved, betrayed by lies he never deserved.

Now he was back. Alive. Whole. With memories sharper than ever.

He stood slowly, stretching, the muscles in his body remembering strength he had forgotten. This time, he wouldn’t be weak. This time, he wouldn’t be a pawn in Jungkook’s empire—or anyone else’s game.

The sound of footsteps echoed outside the door. Taehyung turned slightly. Jungkook entered, impeccably dressed as always. His dark hair slightly tousled, his expression unreadable, yet unmistakably dangerous.

“You’re awake early,” Jungkook said, leaning against the doorframe. “Breakfast is ready. We have a board meeting in two hours.”

Taehyung’s gaze didn’t flinch. “I’ll eat later. I have work to do.”

Jungkook arched a brow. “Work? You fainted yesterday. Are you sure you’re not overexerting yourself?”

Taehyung’s lips curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. “I can handle myself, Mr. Jeon. You should focus on your own empire.”

The words were polite, yet the tone carried a subtle warning. Jungkook stiffened. He had never heard Taehyung speak this way—not in three years of marriage.

“I see,” he said slowly. “You’re… acting differently.”

Taehyung walked past him, calm and composed. “I’m awake, and I know the truth now. I won’t be your obedient husband anymore. That’s all you need to know.”

For the first time, Jungkook felt something unfamiliar—unease. The man who once clung to him, who loved him blindly, was now untouchable, sharp, and distant. And Jungkook didn’t like it.

By mid-morning, the Jeon Empire boardroom buzzed with activity. Executives shuffled papers, whispered rumors floated, and the city’s elite awaited the CEO’s decisions.

Taehyung entered silently, observing everything. He noticed security cameras, guard rotations, subtle tensions in the staff. He had learned quickly in his past life where betrayals had hidden themselves.

And this time, he would not be caught off guard.

Jungkook’s gaze met his as he approached the main table. His eyes darkened slightly—not anger, not annoyance—but something closer to obsession. He remembered the faintest hint of fear and respect in Taehyung’s stance.

“You’re early,” Jungkook said quietly, almost to himself.

“Professional,” Taehyung replied smoothly. “I intend to learn everything about your empire… for my own safety.”

Jungkook’s jaw tightened. There was a challenge in those words, one he hadn’t seen before.

The board meeting began. Discussions about mergers, acquisitions, and corporate espionage filled the room. Taehyung’s mind worked faster than anyone else’s. He noticed every weakness in the staff, every hint of betrayal.

And one name caught his attention: Seo mafia branch.

The same branch that had framed him, that had caused his death in the previous life.

Taehyung’s fingers tightened around his pen. This time, I won’t fall for their traps.

After the meeting, Jungkook approached him privately. “You’re changing fast. Be careful. You’re stepping into dangerous territory.”

Taehyung’s eyes met his. Cold. Controlled. Calculating. “I’m aware. I’ve survived worse. And Mr. Jeon… I suggest you keep your hands off me this time.”

The words hung in the air like a challenge.

Jungkook’s dark gaze lingered on him. The faintest smirk tugged at the corner of Taehyung’s lips. For the first time, he felt a surge of excitement.

Let the game begin.
