The city never slept, but tonight it felt alive with whispers of danger. Rain still drizzled over the streets, turning puddles into mirrors reflecting the flashing neon signs. Hana moved silently through the alleyways, her coat clinging to her, senses sharpened. Every shadow could hide an enemy. Every corner could be a trap.
The message from last night burned in her mind. Seven men dead. A warning scrawled in red: “Loyalty is worthless if it’s kept in your pocket.” Whoever did this had been waiting… watching.
Her phone buzzed. A single word appeared in a text message:
“Prove it. Midnight. Pier 17.”
Hana’s heart thudded—not from fear, but anticipation. She knew the pier was a known meeting spot for rival crews. And Kyung, the Iron Fang, had orchestrated it.
As she stepped onto the slick wooden docks, the scent of saltwater mixed with diesel and smoke. Shadows moved along the edges of the pier. Hana’s hand brushed the hilt of her knife, hidden beneath her coat. She didn’t trust anyone tonight—not even the supposed allies she had brought.
A voice sliced through the tension.
“Right on time.”
Kyung emerged from the shadows, tall and silent, his expression unreadable. But there was a weight in his gaze, a challenge. He didn’t carry a weapon, and yet the air around him felt lethal.
“You know why you’re here,” he said. “Tonight, I need to see if your loyalty is worth anything.”
Before Hana could respond, a sudden explosion ripped through the far side of the pier. Wooden crates splintered, fire and smoke filling the air. Screams echoed. Seven men, masked and armed, poured out from the wreckage—Kyung’s rivals.
Hana didn’t hesitate. She darted forward, knife flashing. She moved with precision, disarming and incapacitating two of the attackers before they even realized what had hit them. Adrenaline surged. This was her element—danger, strategy, survival.
Kyung watched silently, stepping between enemies with calm lethality, taking down two men with precise, brutal efficiency. His eyes flicked to Hana. No words—just acknowledgement. She understood: this was her test. Not just skill, but decision, loyalty, and nerve.
By the time the smoke cleared, only Hana and Kyung remained standing. The attackers lay scattered, groaning or unconscious. Hana’s chest heaved, drenched in rain and sweat. Kyung approached, his gaze sharp.
“You didn’t hesitate,” he said quietly. “Most would have faltered. Most would have died.”
Hana wiped her blade clean and met his gaze. “I told you. I survive myself.”
Kyung’s smirk was faint, almost approving. “Then maybe… you’re worth keeping around.”
The rain fell harder, masking the sound of distant sirens. Hana knew this was only the beginning. Loyalty had been tested tonight—and tomorrow, it would be tested again.
