Leaving this hell

Su Xiana’s words hung in the air like poison.

“Do you like him, sir? He isn’t very well-behaved, but he’ll agree to anything if you treat him kindly… or bribe him with food and sweets.”

Hao Jiwan didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he slowly walked closer.

Each step echoed in the silent room.

The guards instinctively stepped aside. Even Su Yang held his breath. No one dared interrupt him.

Hao Jiwan stopped directly in front of Wang Yi.

For a moment, he simply looked down at him.

Wang Yi’s face was pale, his lips dry from hunger, faint bruises decorating his skin. His thin wrists were wrapped in heavy chains, making the boy look fragile—almost like he might break if touched too roughly.

Yet his eyes…

His eyes were calm.

Too calm.

Not the eyes of someone who had been imprisoned and starved.

Hao Jiwan crouched down slowly until their faces were almost at the same level.

The room became even quieter.

Then he spoke.

“Look at me.”

His voice was low and commanding.

Wang Yi already had been looking at him.

Their eyes met.

For the first time, Hao Jiwan’s expression shifted slightly.

Most people trembled the moment they met his gaze.

But this boy didn’t.

There was no fear.

No hatred.

Only a strange… quiet curiosity.

Su Yang quickly tried to explain again.

“He’s very intelligent. Sometimes he acts strangely. But don’t worry, he’ll obey if you discipline him properly.”

Hao Jiwan ignored him.

Instead, he reached out his hand.

Everyone in the room stiffened.

His fingers gently grabbed Wang Yi’s chin, lifting his face a little higher.

Cold fingers against warm skin.

Wang Yi didn’t resist.

But inside his mind—

So this is Hao Jiwan…

The man who would one day destroy himself for love.

The man who had never learned how to love properly.

Wang Yi studied his face.

Sharp jawline.

Cold dark eyes.

An overwhelming presence that made everyone else look small.

He really does look like the kind of man who could destroy the world, Wang Yi thought.

Hao Jiwan suddenly spoke again.

“Why are you staring at me like that?”

His voice was calm.

But the question made the guards nervous.

No one had ever dared look at him like that.

Yet Wang Yi slowly spoke, his voice hoarse after days without food.

“…Because you’re handsome.”

The entire room froze.

Su Xiana almost choked.

Su Yang’s face turned pale.

The guards looked like they wanted to disappear.

Did this boy just casually flirt with the most dangerous man alive?

But Hao Jiwan…

Unexpectedly…

He chuckled.

A quiet, low sound.

It was so rare that everyone looked shocked.

Hao Jiwan’s grip on Wang Yi’s chin tightened slightly.

“Bold.”

Then his gaze moved down toward the chains.

“Why is he tied like an animal?”

Su Yang nervously laughed.

“Just a precaution. Like I said, he’s extremely intelligent. We couldn’t risk him escaping.”

Hao Jiwan stood up again.

His voice became cold.

“Remove them.”

Su Yang blinked in confusion.

“A-all of them?”

“Yes.”

The guards quickly moved forward and began unlocking the chains.

Metal clanked loudly as the restraints fell away.

For the first time in days, Wang Yi could move freely.

But the moment he tried to stand—

His body collapsed.

Three days without food had drained his strength.

Before he could hit the ground—

A strong arm caught him.

The room fell silent again.

Hao Jiwan was holding him.

Wang Yi blinked slightly.

His body was pressed against Hao Jiwan’s chest.

Strong.

Warm.

Completely different from the cold floor he had been sitting on.

Hao Jiwan frowned slightly.

“He’s too light.”

Su Xiana quickly laughed awkwardly.

“He’s been refusing to eat lately. Such a troublesome child.”

Wang Yi wanted to laugh.

Refusing?

They had literally starved him.

But he stayed silent.

Hao Jiwan looked down at him again.

“Do you want to come with me?”

It sounded less like a question…

And more like a command.

Wang Yi slowly looked up at him.

Their eyes met again.

Then Wang Yi smiled faintly.

“…Will you feed me?”

Another silence.

Su Yang looked like he might faint.

But Hao Jiwan answered without hesitation.

“Yes.”

Wang Yi’s smile became a little brighter.

“Then I’ll go.”

Inside his mind, he quietly added—

This time… I won’t let the story end in tragedy.

Meanwhile, Hao Jiwan was staring at the boy in his arms.

For some reason…

Something about Wang Yi felt dangerous.

Not physically.

But mentally.

It felt like this fragile boy could quietly crawl into someone’s heart…

And never leave.

Hao Jiwan turned toward Su Yang.

“The marriage contract.”

Su Yang quickly handed over the documents.

Hao Jiwan signed them immediately.

Just like that—

Wang Yi had officially become Hao Jiwan’s husband.

Hao Jiwan then looked at the guards.

“Prepare the car.”

He started walking toward the door, still carrying Wang Yi.

Wang Yi leaned weakly against him.

His eyes slowly closed.

But before he completely lost consciousness, he whispered very softly—

“Jiwan…”

Hao Jiwan paused.

That was the first time someone had called him that so naturally.

Not “Mr. Hao”.

Not “Chairman Hao”.

Just…

Jiwan.

Hao Jiwan looked down.

Wang Yi had already fainted.

But for some strange reason…

Hao Jiwan’s heartbeat felt slightly faster.

And he didn’t know why.
