Chapter 5: Wasting is shameful.

A small yogurt cup was quickly finished, even the bottom was rinsed with hot water and drunk clean.

Waste is shameful.

Placing the empty cup on the coffee table, Hua Jin lay comfortably on the sofa for a while, noticing it was getting late, she prepared to go out.

The timing was just right, as soon as Hua Jin stepped out, the front door of the house rang, signifying that her parents had returned.

Hua Jin quickly opened the door to greet them.

She was then embraced by the dust-covered old lady Hua who smothered her with loving inquiries.

Since they had breakfast late, there was naturally no lunch, but Mrs. Qi still cooked a pot of sweet soup to replenish everyone's energy.

The main house of the Hua family has three rooms, spaciously built. The walls are a mixture of bricks and mud, and the roof tiles are complete, making it one of the few good houses in the village.

The rooms on both sides of the central hall are occupied by old lady Hua's couple and the son's couple.

Besides, there are three rooms on the east and west wings, and a kitchen and woodshed, etc.

"My Jin'er is just so sweet, but there's no rush, once we're fully recovered you can help grandma again." The old lady Hua looked at her granddaughter's scar at the back of her head with deep heartache, not wanting the child to work.

The grandmother and granddaughter had just stepped out of the main door when they heard loud knocking on the big gate accompanied by the voices of young lads.

"Grandma, open up, your grandsons are back."

These words made the old lady Hua immediately grin, showing her mouth missing a lower tooth, yet her mouth was merciless as she shouted, "Coming, little brats, keep rushing, and I'll have trouble holding the door bolt!"

The brothers outside the gate chuckled, clearly not taking grandma's threats seriously.

Grandma's bark was always worse than her bite, if she really had to hit, she'd be reluctant.

Hua Jin smiled at the gate, choosing not to compete with her grandma over opening it. Though her head was mostly healed, moving quickly would still cause slight discomfort.

To be frank, she was incredibly lucky with an almost miraculous fate, having rolled down such a high slope with just the back of her head injured; other than a few scrapes and bruises, her arms and legs were intact. Otherwise, she'd be even more distressed.

But seriously, how did she end up rolling down the slope?

Her mom's puzzlement was hers too.

Though the wound had mostly healed, her brain still hadn't fully recovered, and thinking hard caused discomfort.

Could it have truly been a mere accident?

"Little sister,"

"Little sister,"

The two brothers entered with sycophantic smiles towards the old lady, but upon spotting Hua Jin in the yard, they immediately forgot about her.

"Little sister, you can be out here?"

Hua Yunxiang quickly ran to his sister, even Hua Yunao, who usually behaved more sensibly, briskly walked over to support his sister on either side.

"Little sister, how can you stand in the yard by yourself? Does your head not feel dizzy anymore? Does it still hurt?" The second brother disapproved of seeing his little sister like this, but the worry in his eyes was real.

"Your second brother is right, little sister, your body just started recovering, especially since it's a head injury, you shouldn't expose it to the wind, better if you refrain from going outside when you can." The eldest brother also looked at his sister with furrowed brows, full of concern.

Seeing the two brothers caring for their sister, Hua Jin felt both envious of the original owner and warm in her heart.

Having been alone since her teens, deep down she longed for familial affection and especially hoped for siblings.

Thinking about those years of loneliness by herself and then looking at her two brothers, Hua Jin's smile deepened and became more genuine.

Being in this family doesn't seem that bad.

So she smiled and said, "Big brother, Second brother, I'm already fine, you've forgotten? The doctor said I could walk around moderately, it's okay, my head doesn't hurt at all, and I just came out, if you don't believe me, ask grandma?"

The two brothers believed their sister, knowing that with grandma's presence, she wouldn't act willfully. Though their hearts were calm, they still continued walking her straight into the central hall.

Hua Jin could only wryly smile at her two brothers, but she did enjoy their affection.

After all, they meant well, and she wasn't ungrateful.

"Regardless, little sister, it's better to be cautious."

"I got it, big brother," not wanting to be lectured, Hua Jin could only nod, knowing they wouldn't be able to manage her when they weren't home during the day.

It was only during dinner that Hua Jin realized she had been too presumptuous.

The Hua family didn't have rules against talking during meals, quite the opposite, to not waste time the two sons had for studying, the dining table naturally became a place for the Hua father and sons to interact with their children.

When she heard her brothers mention that they'd be starting their farming holiday from the next day, Hua Jin suddenly realized how she forgot about the farming holiday period, which likely meant more people would be around to watch over her.
