I quickly left my books in my locker, just like everyone else, and started to run. “Oh no, I’m going to be late for my job!” I muttered under my breath, my heartbeat picking up with every step. The streets passed by in a blur, but the crowd of students slowed me down. Then suddenly, an idea struck me—I should take a shortcut. If I climbed over the wall near the back path, I could reach the shop much quicker.
Without stopping, I turned into a narrow alley, my eyes fixed on the wall ahead. I adjusted my shirt a little so it wouldn’t be ripped apart by that.then threw my backpack to the other side. I started climbing. Peeking over the top with my little head, I began to pull myself up… and froze.
Elijah was standing there with someone. My surprise hit me instantly. Looking down, I realized the side I had climbed from wasn’t too high, but the other side… it was much taller. Jumping down in this smaller body wouldn’t be easy. I hesitated, sitting awkwardly on the wall, glancing between the ground and Elijah below. A quiet thought settled in—I might have rushed into this without thinking.
Just then, Elijah stopped talking mid-sentence, his cold green eyes shifting toward me. Sharp, unreadable… they pinned me in place. My confidence slipped, and I froze, sitting awkwardly on the wall. Slowly, I met his gaze, giving him a hesitant, almost pleading look. The situation was beyond embarrassing.
“E-Elijah… help me,” I said awkwardly, my voice quieter than I intended.
He didn’t move at first, just stared at me, his expression cold, unreadable, as if deciding whether to help—or watch.
He slowly stepped forward and held out his hands. “Grip it,” he said. I reached out, but I lost my balance and started to fall. I thought I would be falling on the ground and I would be in pain but
In the blink of an eye, he caught me. I ended up falling on top of him, and before I could react, our lips accidentally touched.
I froze, my heart pounding, not knowing what to do. Elijah looked at me, his green eyes wide, but he didn’t move away right away. The moment felt strange, awkward, and completely unexpected.
I abruptly pushed myself up and started to run, my feet pounding the ground. I didn’t dare look back. My mind raced—he’s probably going to be angry with me…
So I kept my eyes forward and ran as fast as I could, deciding not to risk seeing his expression. My chest heaved with each step, and my heart wouldn’t stop pounding, but I didn’t slow down. Running as fast as I can.
