The school bell rang, echoing through the empty hallway as Taehyung lingered near his locker. His fingers brushed over the edge of a small note he hadn’t dared open until now. His heart thumped—part curiosity, part fear.

“Taehyung?” a soft voice called, breaking his thoughts. Jungkook appeared, backpack slung lazily over one shoulder, hair a little messy from gym class.

“Uh… hey,” Taehyung stammered, stuffing the note into his pocket.

Jungkook’s eyes narrowed playfully. “You’ve been avoiding me since yesterday. What’s up? You’re acting weird.”

Taehyung’s face flushed. He wanted to tell him everything, but the words tangled in his throat. Instead, he shrugged, trying to act casual.

“Nothing. Just… tired,” he muttered.

Jungkook crossed his arms, leaning against the locker beside him. “Uh-huh. Sure, tired. You know, you can tell me stuff, you know. I’m not gonna bite.”

Taehyung swallowed hard, his mind flashing back to that night when Jungkook had stayed after practice to wait for him. The memory made his chest tighten.
